I thought there was a small mirror for shaving that came in the mess kit. Looking at it, Paizo classifies a mess kit as eating utensils. Hmmm I guess I should have read more about that when I created the character. If you will allow, I would have purchased a small mirror specifically for shaving. It wouldn't be the mirror listed in the guide. It is a very small mirror that would let you see your face, possibly not even all of your face. Like I said it is for shaving. If not then.... I don't have a mirror!

Trying to think of what a fairy would consider a treasure, Grautak wonders if they are as fascinated by themselves as humans seemed to be. He rummages through his saddlebags for a few minutes and then pulls out a small mirror.

Keeping his voice low in case the fairies are nearby, Grautak speaks softly with Gird.

Grautak removes his crap-covered boots and begins to wash his feet."Gird, would you mind cleansing my boots as well?" Looking around at the group, Grautak realizes Gird may be correct. Although his dealings with fairies was limited, he thought he did remember something about them liking shiny objects.

"Alright everyone, empty out your pockets and let's see what we can offer as a gift to our fairy friends."

"Gird, would you mind telling your friends we mean them no harm." Grautak thinks for a few seconds before continuing in a hushed voice. "Perhaps these fairies know a bit about the forest and its... inhabitants. Maybe we could persuade them to share what information they have."

Unfortunately we'll have to rely on the Dandy for this one. I hope he is as good as he thinks he is with these fairy folk.

Smiling mischievously, Grautak responds to Durnim's last comment. "Does that offer include trumpets and tubas? Har, har, har! Welcome aboard Hornblower, we'll be glad to have you."

Grautak then stands up from the table and walks over to Oleg & Svetlana.

Oleg:
Grautak walks toward Oleg & Svetlana with a smile on his face. "Oleg, Svetlana, I want to thank you for everything you have done for our little band. In particular, I want to thank you for your treatment of me and my brother. As you can guess, most people don't accept us and would rather spit in our face than offer a handshake. The two of you have done much more and for that I thank you. To help the two of you get back on your feet I would like to do more than just clear out this area. I am going to give you my share of any of the equipment I don't plan on using myself that we find while we are out. That includes weapons, armor, animals, camping gear and other things I haven't thought of at this time. Do me a favor and don't tell the others. The last thing I need is for them to think I'm soft." He turns to go back to the stables and check on Whisper, but then pauses, turns his head and says, "Oh and Ms. Svetlana, that was some mighty fine soup. I can't wait to see what else you got cooking. Me and Dagru ain't eat this good for a long time." And with that said Grautak continues to the stable and Whisper.

Moving forward, Grautak will make sure to take his portion of the treasure, rather than add it to party gold. Any mundane equipment he will give to Oleg & Svetlana for free. All actual gold and jewelry he will keep for himself and any gear he plans on using himself he will keep. If you need additional clarification, PM me.

This message is for all of my PBPs- I apologize for not posting over the past few days. Unfortunately my Grandmother passed away and I have been helping to take care of some of the details. "Ahh Svetlana, this is the feast we've been dreaming of while out in the woods! We'll have to keep an eye out for more radishes during our next expedition." Grautak, surprisingly, was not exaggerating. The soup was quite delicious and the ale very refreshing. Glancing at his brother he could see Dagru felt the same about the food. This trading post had a lot going for it. Grautak and Dagru would need to make sure Oleg & Svetlana remained safe.

Grautak takes a pensive minute to examine the two newcomers to Oleg's. The Dwarf seemed typical of that race. He stank and already he was suspicious of Grautak and Dagru.... figures. "Well I was wrong about the Dandy, so maybe I'll be wrong about the dwarf." The priest looked a bit out of place. It seemed a bit strange that a priest would arrive at the trading post with no real reason for being there or wandering in this part of the country.

Ignoring the priest for later, let the others figure his story out, Grautak instead decided to take the measure of the dwarf.

"So you're a smith, Hornblower? What's your specialty, trumpets? Har har, har! Did you hear that, Dagru? Trumpets?! Har, har, har!" Grautak takes a very big gulp of ale, tosses a hunk of venison over his shoulder toward Whisper, and waits to see the dwarf's reaction.

If the group was amenable, he thought they might be able to accrue a fair bit of cash from the wanted posters and they should focus their attention on those tasks.. Grautak felt that should be a priority. He also wanted to know more about this... Tuskgutter he had heard about from some of the trappers at Oleg's. It was always wise to have multiple mounts ready for action. He expected to be riding Whisper for quite some time, but this Tuskgutter sounded like the kind of beast he preferred and would make a great replacement in the event Whisper fell wounded or dead.

Wiping the blood from his blade, Grautak looks over the "offering" from the kobolds and sniffs in derision. "Looks like more fodder for Oleg. Let's pack it up." Glancing around the clearing, Grautak sees the berries and takes a closer look. "Brother, are these the berries the crazy man was looking for?" He gives Dagru a handful of the berries for inspection.

Did my AC change? I have a 20 AC so I didn't think they hit me with a 13. Whisper's is normally 14 so he definitely was hit.

Grautak did share the info with the entire party. FFR, I will always spoiler or PM stuff I want private, which won't be too many things. Once Grautak accepts someone, they are good... unless they doublecross him, in which case it's bad... very bad...

Grautak motions Dagru to the left to sneak out wide and enter the clearing from a different angle to flank any potential enemies or discover any possible ambushes. He and Whisper then move to the right. If anyone has guidance, please cast it on Grautak/Whisper before they move off into the woods. "Keep moving forward. Dagru and I will come in from the sides and surprise them if this ends up being an ambush. Be ready for anything."

Sorry my posting has lagged a bit all. We had three employees walk out last month, so in addition to interviewing and hiring new employees, I have had to pick up all of the receptionist's job duties. Many many long days at work this past month. Things are starting to slow down a bit so I should be back to normal within a week or two.

Also I have military duty from May 1st through the 15th. I will have my ipad and my phone with me but I have no idea what service will be available. Although his brother's voice sounded at ease, Grautak still felt slightly paranoid. As the rest of the group moved to the small hut, Grautak and Whisper sauntered off behind a tree, keeping the hut in plain sight while observing the rest of the forest for possible ambush.

Horses should be able to graze. Gird, since you are tracking party treasure, do you mind also tracking rations? I will keep track of mapping and associated quests. I am considering picking up a level or two of ranger at some point after exploring. I think it fits thematically and that will help with the survival aspects of the campaign.

I am also considering hiring a cartographer at some point to accurately map what we explore. Whether this individual comes with us or not will depend on the hireling. I am thinking a henchman of some sort but that won't be for a few levels. I do plan on taking the Leadership feat at 6th level so it may be one of those henchman.

Yes, journey out to the hexes closest to Oleg's in an east to west pattern, moving out from there. So the first hexes we would explore would all be adjacent to Oleg's. And then move out to the next row and so on. This ensures an ever growing "security" zone surrounding Oleg's and gives us a safer passage than if we just went to random hexes.

Thinking about the journey ahead, Grautak wonders if Oleg may be able to acquire higher quality items. If they encountered more bandit camps or worse then the group was going to need much better equipment. Before the Brevoy houses ran them off, the Numerian Hammer had the best equipment. Grautak wandered over to Oleg to see what could be done.

Sorry for the brief and few postings this past week. We had three employees resign and so I have been picking up the slack as well as performing the interviewing process at work. Has made for some very long days.

We have hired one replacement but until I hire a new receptionist, my workload is doubled. After this week I should be back to normal, although I of course, will still post everyday.
