Grats path to the Pathfinder Society was pretty simple. Goblins destroyed his farm and his livelihood but in the process he learned that he was pretty good at killing the little buggers. He also learned that the tone that kept his mule moving really put the fear of Cailean into them.
He knows he is not the greatest warrior but his farm strength and ability to intimidate enemies has done well for him so far.
