I've been thinking about a sacred servant paladin with high Cha that went with the charm (sub:love) domain. Two questions: would the adoration power of the love subdomain be usable 3+ cha modifier since i have a different ability tied to spellcasting than a cleric? I'm assuming the save on this will be 10+cha mod+ 1(spl level of sanctuary)just as if i had cast sanctuary. If i use the charming smile power that charm domain clerics get at 8th level it should be 10 + 1/2 cleric level equivalent+cha mod right? The powers are totally useless to me if the ability that it is tied to doesnt change to cha, but it seems possible to me that it doesnt change and stays tied to wis.
In the APG there is a replacement half orc trait that gives a bite attack in trade for the half orcs ferocity ability. It says It does a d4 and is primary. My question is do you apply strength to this roll? The razortusk feat lets you add half strength if used as a secondary attack with a full attack action. Seems to me this is the intent, to be treated as a secondary attack if used with a full attack and also it seems i should be getting full strength as a primary and half str as a secondary attack. Was thinking about a half orc paladin that gets an extra attack that adds paladin level to damage while smiting, but dont want to spend a feat picking up razortusk. Ferocity isnt needed it seems since I'll get the 1st level spell that allows you to use lay on hands if you drop below zero hp as an immediate action. Oh and I know half orc paladins are rare, but they do exist.
Can a rage power such as knockback be used if someone casts the rage spell on the barbarian and he doesn't use his actual rage? How about clarity of mind? I know the furious weapon enchant out of APG works with the spell but didn't see anything in the spell description indicating either way as far as rage feats/ powers. Anyone have a link to where this is covered on the messageboards?
I play society and am currently making a new first level PC. I have a couple characters getting into the higher tiers and have noticed that in season two the higher teir adventures really bring the heat, so I'm trying to make a character that can actually be effective later on, instead of making one that is built for getting his behind kicked. I only mention this because the purpose of this thread isn't to get threadjacked and have people start talking about the virtues of roleplaying vs. powergaming, I don't want your opinion on this matter, I'm the greatest roleplayer this side of the Mississippi river. =) (just kidding of course, but seriously don't threadjack me) Anyways here goes:
Dwarf -Favored class: Ranger-
1. Barb1 (Brutal Pugalist/Drunken Brute-APG-) - 1st lev feat:Toughness
Traits are: the one that gives +3 rounds of rage (can't remember the name of it) and Indomidable faith (+1 will save) str 17
Perks of the build : Double dmg on first hit with two hander. if using a reach weapon threatens 10' away and close range at the same time. 16 rounds of rage at level 3, 18 rounds at 7th level assuming I don't buy an item to increase Con. Loads of hp, even more while raging. two weapon fighting while using a two hander using spiked armor(this is legal right?). if i use a shield and one handed weapon i can still use two weapon fighting because of the spiked armor(also legal?). plus eventually a bite and horns attack. +2 to attack and dmg of all attacks on the boss of your choice, 2 bosses at 9th level. is all this legal? A big concern I have for this build is whether I can use my overhand chop to get double strength damage on the first swing (an attack action) and then choose to full attack with 1.5 strength on the following swings (.5 strength on the natural attacks of course and 1.0 strength on the spiked armor attacks). The core rulebook states the following: pg 187: "Deciding between an attack or full attack: After your first attack, you can decide to take a move action instead of making your remaining attacks, depending on how the first attack turns out and assuming you have not already taken a move action this round." To help decide on this read up on action types on page 181 of core. My interpretation of the combat section says that you make an attack, then you can decide to make a full attack or move. The two handed fighter gets double strength on a "single attack (with the attack action or charge)" which to my knowledge would entail your first attack before deciding whether or not to use the full attack action. Thanks for taking the time to read all this guys, and thank you for your help in advance. Cheers!
So I was reading about the feat empower spell, and it says that it increases variable numeric effects. In the Healing domain for clerics there is a power called Healer's Blessing. It says "all of you cure spells are treated as if they were empowered, increasing the amount of damage healed by half (+50%)." So are the variable numeric effects empowered only or are healing spells special and they just get +50% total (7th level cleric with healing domain casting cure moderate would be ((2d8 + 7) *1.5) or ((2d8 * 1.5) + 7). My interpretation leans towards the latter, but I've had this discusion with a few of my peers and noone seems to agree. My apologies if this question has been covered, I'm new to the messageboards and was hoping to get a quick answer instead of having to search through everything to see if the answer I'm seeking is already here. |
