Got it!

Thanks for running the game, that last fight was pretty harrowing.

Grabshanks will cautiously look inside the cave. Hopefully there are survivors in there. He’ll also call out.

”Maybe someone should try to flag down an official? This seems like something worth stopping the race over.”

Little known fact: 2e bard song adds to all damage rolls, including all spell damage rolls

Inspire courage wrote:

So magic missiles do +1 damage!

Does the bear have a 50 foot move speed? Because even if he crit succeeded on the balance check, that's 25 feet he moved over difficult terrain by my count. Probably does, he's a nasty monster.

Vigilant Seal

Male Goblin, HP 21/32|AC 19 (21 with shield)| Fort+7/Ref+9/Will +6|Speed 25 Monk

Well, since it has been several days since I asked our GM a question in discussions, and gotten no response, I'll just say Grabshanks plays dead, and hope the bear prioritizes the two actively flinging rocks and sticks at it over the mauled, prone, goblin who is currently putting up no resistance.

@GM ARe you going to make me roll a deception check to stay down, or is the creature going to stop attacking me because a goblin laying down not doing anything is less of a threat than the ones activly pelting it with arrows? This will affect my decision.

This is the discussion thread.

And before you heal me. I think the best thing to do is not heal me.

If you do, he's going to attack me, grab, and throw me, and kill me. Just as simple as that. If you try to lure him out on to the ice, then you can heal me next round and we can continue to pelt him with ranged attacks. He can't move super fast over the ice, probably has no ranged attacks, and if we hit him there's a chance he falls down. I have a boon that lets me survive one more round if I fail my stabilization check.

@ Lewdvik I think you forgot we still have badsong still active through lingering performance. Gives you a +1 to hit and damage. Maybe that would let you hit the bear.

Vigilant Seal

Male Goblin, HP 21/32|AC 19 (21 with shield)| Fort+7/Ref+9/Will +6|Speed 25 Monk

You're frustrated?

If I get healed and stand up to get away, he op attacks me and I die.
If I get healed, he full attacks me and I die
If I don't get healed, I bleed out and die.

98% guaranteed character death. Fun.

Hate to be that annoying guy bringing up rules, but if the monster has the standard grab rules, it isn’t automatic, it requires an action. Unless his AoO allows him to grab for free (which it might, I don’t know his stats.) I know that has tripped out local gaming group several times before we drilled it into our heads.

You sure it’s my turn again? The others don’t get any actions? I’m pretty sure I only get stabilization rolls at the start of my turn.

@GM I clearly said I Stepped closer, which usually does not provoke. I did not say stride closer, which does. I specifically did that in case he did have AoOs.

Waiting for Jord to resolve his movement. If he does end movement adjacent to me I can use my Goblin Scuttle reaction to STEP adjacent to the Bear and not need to use up an action this round.

Vigilant Seal

Male Goblin, HP 21/32|AC 19 (21 with shield)| Fort+7/Ref+9/Will +6|Speed 25 Monk

Point of order, the balance action includes movement. You don’t have to spend an action to balance THEN move, you instead balance and, if you succeed, you get to move for free.

Secondly, can I stand on the bit of land that is directly south of Jord? It is half ice, half land so I don’t know if it is uneaven terrain or not.

Grabshanks is willing to slowly scootch across the ice on his belly to spread out his (small) weight, then either use his his dagger or tiger style to chip away at the base of the ice and bring back the entire icicle.

Let me know what skill checks I need to roll

Not being particularly stealthy or perceptive, Grabshanks hangs back and waits to see if the rest of the team makes it, if they don’t, he’ll try.

Vigilant Seal

Male Goblin, HP 21/32|AC 19 (21 with shield)| Fort+7/Ref+9/Will +6|Speed 25 Monk

At this point Grabshanks will forgo making friend with the other guys and just go about trying to be nice to a random other team, bringing them firewood and tinder and doing other domestic tasks, trying to help out.

When they all reconvine, Grabshanks will mention to the group" "Seems the best way to do the first part of the race is to just do a straight shot to the first checkpoint. It may look easier to veer north or south to avoid what looks like difficult terrain, but those areas usually get swampy and hard to move through under the snow. That's what I heard at least."

Grabshanks will go and talk to the group that seems most predisposed to talking to a bunch of goblin bankers.

"Hello my good sirs. Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Grabshanks of clan Moneymaker. We've been roped into this trek, though it seems like a good workout. And I suppose getting to know another culture and their laws is always welcome. There seems to be be some consternation at our team though, have we done something to offend? Have we violated some law?"

Grabshanks buys as many sets of winter clothes as needed (I asked who needed said clothes earlier but no one responded, I assume it got lost in the chaff. I’ll get them to pay me back or pay me before I shop) I’ll also buy 4 weeks of rations and get everyone to chip in unless there’s a problem. Then 100 feet of rope, and a crafting kit if no one has one already (again, asked earlier, no one answered.). And also a handaxe I guess.

Does anyone have a crafting kit and medicine kit already? I guess I said I go pick up winter clothes so that's what I'm doing for the first hour. If everyone gives me money I'll buy enough clothes for the rest of us so that we all don't have to spend an hour to buy one set of clothes each. I'm willing to buy the rope, tent, and rations.

He turns to the others and says in Goblin ”<<Sorry to jump in without consulting you, but I don’t thing these guys appreciate a lot of hemming and hawing. Plus, y’know, branding and free advertising. Good for the bank. Hope that’s okay with you guys.>>”

After buying winter clothes, does it look like we’ll need to buy anything else for the trek? Another Sled? Food? Blankets? Dog chow, or is all of that covered for us?”

”What can you recommend to avoid such a fate?” Grabshanks asks trying to sound jovial at the ribbing. He then finishes putting on the rest of his winter clothes. ”Lessie, Do we have enough dog chow? Food for ourselves? Some spare parts for repair? Hmmm, Dogs. Not a problem for me, do the rest of you guys have an issue?”. Grabshanks asks his team mates as he checks to make sure that the Pathfinder sled is packed with the stuff they might need.
