I... I never knew I had it in me.

Oh my... what's this?

Quick as lightning, Gold Rush is on its feet again. "CONFLICT IS NEITHER PROFITABLE NOR NECESSARY. SURRENDER WOULD BE MOST WISE," it says, before launching into a series of blows that move so fast its fists are only visible as golden sparkles.

Strike (1d20+10=27)
If that hits, damage save DC is 23, and the Weather Witch must also make a DC 18 Fortude save or be stunned.

GM: Do I need to make another check to stand up?

Strength check (1d20=8)

Strength save? Strength check or something-else save?

Gold Rush sweeps its gaze across the revealed enemies, looking for weapons or visible signs that would indicate what powers they possess. It selects the one that looks most likely to harm any remaining bystanders, and undertakes its namesake, attempting to slam into him or her with enough force to knock them off-balance.

Flavor text for a move and unarmed strike.
unarmed attack (1d20+10=14)

Does Gold Rush recognize any of these figures?
Intelligence check (if needed) (1d20+7=19)

As soon as the doors are open, Gold Rush moves to begin rescuing hostages.

Gold Rush's built-in receiver is short-range only, and I didn't buy him a standard transmitter. It would have to be a high-powered transmission for him to pick up on it.

Gold Rush addresses Maddicks. "GREETINGS, COMMISSIONER. THE VANGUARDS OF LIBERTY ARE ON THEIR WAY. WHAT IS YOUR STATUS HERE?"

"I WILL MEET YOU THERE AND BEGIN COLLECTING DATA ON THE SITUATION," Gold Rush tells the others. He pauses long enough to allow an objection from someone if there is one, then assuming no one says anything blurs away, a golden streak moving just below the speed of sound toward the boardwalk. In seconds, he has arrived at the Paradise Casino, and stands before Maddicks.

"LAURENCE," Gold Rush greets him, "HELLO. I HAVE JUST INVITED MARK TO A PARTY I AM HOSTING HERE IN THE HALL NEXT WEDNESDAY. I WOULD LIKE TO EXTEND THE SAME INVITATION TO YOU, AND TO ANY SUITABLE COMPANION YOU CHOOSE TO HAVE ACCOMPANY YOU. THE INVITEES ARE MEMBERS OF THE SUPERHERO COMMUNITY, SO YOU NEED NOT CONCERN YOURSELF WITH THE SECRECY OF YOUR CIVILIAN IDENTITY." He tilts his head slightly. "WILL YOU COME?"

Gold Rush doesn't imply anything - if he wants something to get communicated, he says it - but it would totally make sense for him to get misinterpreted like that anyway. ;)

"THAT WILL NOT BE NECESSARY," Gold Rush replies, "AS THE INVITEES ARE ALL TO BE MEMBERS OF THE SUPERHERO COMMUNITY. IT WILL BE A 'MASKED' BALL, ACCORDING TO JOHNNY ROCKET, WHO SEEMED TO FIND THE CONCEPT AMUSING IN SOME FASHION."

Present day.

Perfect.

As they are working together on Pulse's energy harness, Gold Rush suddenly says, "I AM HOSTING A SOCIAL GATHERING NEXT WEDNESDAY. I WOULD APPRECIATE IT IF YOU WOULD ATTEND. YOU MAY BRING A SUITABLE COMPANION IF YOU SO DESIRE."

Did we determine what year this is for certain?

Pulse:

Spoiler:
I hadn't realized you're a techie, but I'm glad you are. Gold Rush normally uses Quickness to repair himself when he taks damage, but he has no built-in repair capabilities - if he gets knocked out, someone else has to put Humpty-Dumpty back together again! Wanna volunteer?

Gold Rush observes the electrical blast that Pulse has just fired into the wall, comparing it to a series of graphs on the screens along the wall. "ACCURACY IMPROVED SEVEN POINT THREE THREE PERCENT OVER PREVIOUS MODEL, MARK. HOWEVER, ENERGY DRAIN IN SECONDARY SYSTEMS IS ALSO UP FIVE POINT TWO NINE PERCENT." He pulls up a prior iteration of the suit design on the holographic monitor, highlighting a series of power relays. "I SUGGEST REINCORPORATING THIS RELAY SERIES TO REDUCE THE DRAIN TO THE ARTICULATION SERVOMOTORS."

For the record, I agree with Chris about the passivity of "councils" versus other types of groups, but not enough to make an issue out of it since it seems to be okay with most everyone else.

Our designation is irrelevant, so long as it remains unambiguous.

Added background as well.

A note on the idea of the group coming together after the Terminus Invasion - at this point, that was 16 years ago. If we've been together that long, I'm not sure we qualify as "upstart" or "up and coming" anymore, you know?

Here's the first draft of my character.

Tweaks or suggestions welcome, background (which is actually fairly long, if not terribly complicated) forthcoming.
