Personality:

Gnarzus is a bit of a wildcard. While he's not as malicious as the typical Kobold, he's lost none of their opportunistic tendencies, and his life above ground has made him more adventurous than a warren Kobold. He's not above stealing to get by or breaking into places to get what he's after, but his time among people (and away from a spiteful and bickering warren) has kept him from developing the directionless grudge of a cramped warren.

Background:

Gnarzus was an adventurer before he even hatched from his egg. As his mother's warren was raided and destroyed, she spirited his egg away from the slaughter, stowing it away in a chicken coop. Thus Gnarzus hatched one day in the hands of a very confused farmer's son. The lad immediately mistook his wings, tail, and scaly features for a baby dragon.

Being raised in secret in a chicken coop may not have been the most practical of upbringings, but Gnarzus grew quickly, feasting on fresh eggs daily, much to the bewilderment of the farmer. Once he found a taste for the hens themselves, however, things went sour, and the little kobold had to make a hasty exit at the point of a pitchfork.

From the chicken coop to the streets of Magnimar, Gnarzus took his chances where he could find them. Life was a whirlwind of experiences and challenges; every new skill he picked up opened doors for him, in both senses of the term. He learned to be quiet and quick, both in success and in failure. More than once he was caught stealing to survive, but holding him proved to be as difficult as catching him.

Life took a sharp turn one day as Gnarzus spotted a thief during his daily rounds; the man was carrying something shiny wrapped in cloth, and he was in a hurry to escape the angry guards chasing him. Intent on taking the prize for himself, Gnarzus put a small crossbow bolt in the thief's leg, disabling him. As he swooped down to snatch his prize, he was met by a dangerous-looking stranger who had arrived before the guard. Quick as his wits could carry him, Gnarzus offered the shiny gem to the stranger, who thanked him, called off the guard, and invited him to visit the Pathfinder Lodge.

Once again, doors have opened for Gnarzus...
