Gilfroy double moves forward, losing concentration on the elemental when his sight line is blocked by the rock pillar.

But it hangs around anyway.

Gilfroy tries again to hypnotize the priest.

Rocky, the silent earth elemental, glides 5 feet over and fails to push the priest into the water (but now Claire can move to flank with Vrald).

Gilfroy the gnome attempts another hypnotism spell (full round casting).

Gilfroy pulls out his crossbow and let's the bolt fly at the singer, hoping to disrupt his casting. His aim is about as good as he's capable of doing.

Attack: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 2 - 4 = 16
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5

I'm on my phone, so can't move him, but he would have had to step a bit forward two rounds ago to cast his illusion, so he should be able to see.

I'm afraid it has to be a no for another game at this time. I'm having to cut my PBP schedule back to almost nothing for the foreseeable future.

Thanks for the games all.

The earth elemental continues to flail at the cultist while Gilfroy begins to chant and sway, while the shadows around his hands and face writhe hypnotically.

Casting hypnotism...1round casting time.

Gilfroy casts silent image, and a small earth elemental rises out of the rock next to the man and tries but fails to push him into the water.

Without even thinking, Gilfroy hauls out some rations and hands them over.

Gilfroy lays out their story, their arrival at the monastery, their trials, and the people they met.

With the Knights so far away, Gilfroy takes a 5-foot step up and left and tries something he's never done before...

...whips his crossbow off his back and fires at the yellow-socked knight.

Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

...and the crossbow, having had a bolt loaded and cocked since his very first mission, barely fires and flings the bolt haphazardly off to the side.

"No, Hubert!! Quick. Throw us the diamonds!!"

Hubert pulls a small pouch from his belt and attempts to toss the bag of valuable jewels at the group.

Then he casts a spell and Vrald vanishes.

Vrald, you're invisible (or at least you were). No need to distract. :)

Which means the monk shouldn't have gotten that AoO unless she can detect him well enough with some other means.

Gilfroy speaks gibberish to the illusion and mines pushing, and the illusory elemental attempts to shove the monk off the spire, but the nimble monk moves so well, the elemental doesn't even get a stony paw on her.

For his part, he casts a spell and touches Vrald, who vanishes!

"I'll summon an earth elemental to help," Gilfroy says, casting silent image. The stone spire bulges once again, and a gnome-sized man creature of rock and stone slides up out of the spire. Will DC 18 to disbelieve.

Gilfroy starts to climb up. After about two minutes and an ascent of three feet, he pauses for breath, limbs splayed, and asks, "Am I almost there? Is the air getting a bit thin up here?"

Then he slips and doesn't even get out a yell before his backside hits the ground. Looking up at the others climbing the stone, he calls out, "You guys go ahead. I'll be fine here."

"I'm sure it's a matter of the degree, Vrald. There's a difference between being curious and being nosy. However, since they put us in a study room means that they have study rooms, which means they value knowledge and its pursuit, which means showing these good people that we aren't heathen ignoramuses--or is it ignorami?--can only help us."

"However, like I said, we don't have to act any differently than normal. There's no need to put on airs or false personae. I'm sure that we are people of good enough character that just showing them who we truly are will be sufficient. And if an illusionist and devout lay priest of Sivanah tells you you don't have to hide anything, you can take that seriously!"

Gilfroy looks at the open book.

"From what I've read, trials like these can be anything, and not always announced. We should assume starting now that the trials have started and that anything and everything could be a test."

He pauses and smiles. "In fact, the trials probably began from the moment we arrived. There really shouldn't be anything to worry about. If these tests are designed to test our character, if shouldn't be a problem, since all of us are honourable people."

"Thank you for your greeting. We have been made to feel so welcome, I am confident we can establish a strong and long-lasting relationship, no matter the outcome of our quest for the relic. As a token of that friendship, we at the Society heard of your recent troubles and crop failures. It warms my heart to see that you have recovered so well, but your storehouses must be nearly bare. Despite all that, you feasted us as guests. Please accept this small token, and I pray that it's bounty will help you through this lean season."

Gilfroy walks along with Helg.

"This is rather embarrassing, good sir. When we were contemplating an appropriate choice of gift offering for the monastery, we had heard that you had had a poor harvest, and thought the grain a practical, yet thoughtful and considerate choice. However, looking around, your fields seem to be thriving. I hope we do not offend."

Gilfroy, realizing that his typical fake monk outfit would be and idea this time, and uses the sleeves to adopt a simple craftsman outfit.

"We would also like to extend the thanks and appreciation of the Pathfinder Society for opening your doors to us," Gilfroy says, and unless Claire makes a frantic gesture to wave him off, continues, "Please accept this token of the Society's esteem and wishes for a positive and fruitful relationship." He gestures toward the sack of grain.

My understanding of "this should help you get off on the right foot in negotiations" is that the grain is a gift to encourage good will, and not the expected form of payment for the relic, but if others got a different impression, feel free to save this with some sort of "assuming we can come to an equitable arrangement" comment.

I had always thought those were single-use items, but it doesn't actually say that anywhere in the description. The popular opinion on the messageboards is that they are reusable, but there is considerable disagreement on whether or not the sleeves actually change your garments (into things that can give you bonuses on skill checks or saves), or just illusory versions that don't give any benefits. Either way, these are right up Gilfroy's alley, so he'll get a set, too, if that's allowed.

One of the papers Vrald was perusing floats into the air and hovers over the Venture-Captain's desk. A small, disembodied voice calls out from the air three feet up, "We'll probably also want desert gear, too, if we're going to Osirion. Hot in the desert, cold in the mountains. What fun!"

"Greetings. We don't know it, and before you start trying to blast us with your lightnings, let me explain our purpose here, and perhaps you'll want to help us out. I am Lord Gilfroy Fezziwig, son of the third Earl of Fezziwig of Taldor. My noble father and your mistress of the veil have done much lucrative business over the years; however, two days ago, my father was unable to contact her, so I and my retinue were dispatched by teleportation to this island to ascertain her fate, and ensure that none of my lord father's interests had been violated. We arrived to learn from those scum of a dog gnolls that their chief Chau had run her off from her own fortification, perhaps having killed and eaten her in the wilderness, so we have come to determine the truth of this, which has led us here. If you were to see fit to let us pass, we would be happy to swear to you that we will see through to justice for your mistress, whatever her fate."
