I need some help. I am trying to design a midsea comnat and the kraken is almost the perfect monster but its CR 18 and i need a cr 15. Is there an effective way to scale it down that far? I have seen the young template but that is only -1 CR.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I know you are done with this guide so I'm not even sure you will see this but, I am about to do the Mokmurian fight and i was looking over his stat block.
I noticed he has True Name but nothing really says what he could summon if he had to.
I'm just wondering because i want to tweak him and his bodyguards to be more like bodyguards and not just trip machines and need to swap some feats around.
But, if True Name could be more useful I would keep that instead

How i handled it with my group was he put a point into linguistics and the i had him make a linguistics check to see if he learned it. He didn't think of doing it until level 6-7 and was a replacement character with little exposure to the language so i started the DC at 30 and as he travel and saw more and more i lowered it to 25 then 20. until he learned it. And to keep it fairer for him if he failed he could learn another language instead so he didn't "waste" the point

Can someone clarify this interaction for me?. If you ready an attack with the trigger of when the enemy casts a spell but they cast defensively, do you still can to make that attack? If so, do they have to succeed on two concentration checks now? One for the damage and one for the defensive cast.

When I am describing a room that has enemies in it my group (particularly my sorcerer) immediately wants to cast a fireball into the room and initiate combat like that. I've started to have them roll initiative anytime they walk into a room with enemies but that doesn't allow for things like the BBEG from doing his big speech before he start having to fight.

Has anyone else had groups like this and what have you done about it?

Spoilers if you have reached Magnimar yet.

So when my group got to foxglove manor, they tried to break down door and ended up getting themselves arrested.

Now I need help deciding what to do with them. The way I see it Justice Ironbriar would use the opportunity to have them all killed but I don't want to do that.

If anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears. Best i have so far is Ironbriar brings them to the sawmill to be sacrificed.

So i have run a game in another system but I've never really run a campaign in PF. I am going to start Rise of the Runelords and as I was reading through the book i was wondering, When its says things along the lines of "Succeeding a DC 15 Knowledge (X)" Do I ask the players to make the roll or do I only bring it up if they say they are going to make a roll for it?
