Gerhardt was raised on tales of battle and his father's view of conflict. When he was thirteen his father gave him a sword and helm and said, "Gorum will provide, if you fight for your life." With that he took the boy to war. By the next spring, Gerhardt was a capable warrior, skilled with his arms, but feeling something missing. He could feel Gorum's will in his heart, Gorum's strength in his arms, and Gorum's power in his soul. A true devotee, Gerhardt means to minister War and crush the enemies before him.
What does this mean to him now? The fight is everything; the purpose is an illusion. Fight for gold, fight for freedom, it's all the same. Gerhardt is looking for a fight. A big fight. One worthy of Gorum; one big enough to draw men to the Lord in Iron.
