I'll be starting the adventure path tomorrow with 6 players. The issue I found was that I did not like the that the characters were all in Wati and familiar with each other standing amongst the crowd waiting for the lottery to start. The hook that came up with was that the characters were all in their respective towns and heard the Town Crier announcing information about the Necropolis being opened up. The PC's started out all north of the inner sea and when we finally sit down to start play they will have found themselves in the port city of Almas trying to book passage on a ship (which I name Babbling Wench). The catch is that the ship is fashioned after an old Tea Clipper will be carrying a large sum of money being transferred from Almas's central bank to the Absalom central bank (6 chests of 120K Lion coins or PP). The characters will not have the money and find themselves press ganged into working as a security detail for the quartermaster and Captain who are the only ones that know of the contents of the cargo. the first morning at sea a Pirate Brigantine will be sighted breaching a fog bank with the weather gauge to try and catch the players ship before it can turn around. I feel like this will be what binds the characters together as I did not want to go with the overplayed bar fight. Lots of Wisdom, fortitude, strength and dexterity checks will be made. After that encounter they will get to Absalom, then onto Sothis and finally onto Wati via a caravan of merchants. Should be lots of Fun!!!!

Ok so I am GM'ing the Mummy's Mask Adventure path and while I am overall very pleased with the layout and general progression with the 1st module I have observed that the total XP count for the first part of 3 for the Half-Dead City gives about 7500 XP. Part 2 is worse giving out only a total of 12800. If I want the PC's to have any chance of hitting 3rd level by part 3 I have to have about 30K XP available to me in Part 2 which is simply not there. While this would not be a problem for a small party of 3-4 players I have 6 in my campaign. So, as a result I am having to retool the encounters so that I can be sure the PC's are keeping pace with the adventure path. Kind of a pain in the arse but what else is there to do!

OYEH....OYEH....OYEH.....Greetings to you all from the realm of Osirion!!!

As a GM about to embark on the Mummy's Mask I was wondering if anyone knows where I could get my hands on a map for the city of Sothis. I think it would add some great flare and provide some fun while between adventures or while my PC's are out on subplots. I am really quite excited about starting this path and rather than start my players out in Wati I am going to start them out in Almas with them trying to book passage on a ship bound first for Absalom then to Sothis. If they don't make their diplomacy checks then it will be off to where the Caravan's pull into town to try and join up with a caravan to earn some money while en-route to Oppara. If they get on the ship then they will find something waiting not so pleasant in Absalom to start them off. Either way they will eventually find their way to Sothis which is why having a map will be helpful.
