Previous Command: Before being promoted to the upper command ranks Jim Kimes was the commander of an airborn company.
Having started out as an officer in a Drop Sentinel squadron, patterned after the Elysian drop troops, Kimes quickly made a name for himself as a commander of the oft out of communication Sentinel Squadrons. Over several years, and many backwater wars which never made the history books, Kimes found himself in command of an entire Company of drop troops. While he rarely got to pilot a Sentinel anymore, one of the many burdens of command, he continued to pull off well executed drops against everything from Ork uprisings on planets which had seen a Waagh in centuries past to Civil disputes that grew to the size of drawing Imperial Army attention.
New to the upper command he is unsure how he will handle not being in the field as much. First having given up piloting a Sentinel and now being confined to a war room, at least in his view, he simply trusts in the Emperor to see him through.
Flaw: Kimes is often prone to violent outbursts, specifically resulting from a feeling of helplessness. He isn't well adjusted to the upper command yet, and it clearly shows. Sargent Major Ericson, who has always been by James' side since he first took control of a Sentinel squadron, does his best to keep his commanding officer calm. Rumor has it that Ericson has seen to it that a Sentinel is set aside purely for Kime's use, so that he may work out his frustrations away from the War table.
