As a GM I would say you would be able to put your Greatsword into one-hand as a free action. Using a full-attack still allows you to use the 5-foot step as well as 1 or 2 free actions. There are also reasonable limits on what you can do as free actions and it is up to the discretion of the GM. As for the counter-attack, I'm not sure, I'd have to double check the book for that.

Can a sorcerer wear Bracers of Armor (+1 to +8) without incurring an arcane spell failure chance. I've read the description of BoA and I understand that it surrounds the wearer with an invisible but tangible field of force. It also continues to state that it grants a bonus of +1 to +8, just as though he were wearing armor. Under the assumption of common sense and the description it gives for BoA, it sounds like this is not traditional armor but "acts" like armor, which means that a sorcerer should be able to wear these without chance of spell failure. Is that the case? Or does someone believe different?
