The door from the outside soundly secured, Gareth steps through the crowd, his bastard sword still resting in his hand. Standing over the beaten, mad halfling, he let's his blade come to a rest just to the side of her head. Staring down at Johanna coldly, a dark growl utters forth from his voice. "We put ourselves at risk to dispose of the corpse of the fallen... to protect all of us. You saw fit to betray us while we were trying to protect you. Perhaps you are a bit nieve, but I serve Ragathiel, the god of Vengeance, slayer of Betrayers. Give me a good reason why I should not remove your head right now?"

As the dwarf warrior and the hulking man move to split in opposing directions, Gareth posts up midway between, ready to lend his response to whichever needs his aid. "Gentlemen, one whistle if you get the door open. TWo if you need aid. Got it?"

Coming out of the barn Gareth is relieved to see the gate repaired and secure, only to realize the fence is in danger of coming down. Twisting is direction, the large man continues driving the cart forward, intent to hit the point in the fence that was bending in and hopefully knock back the walking dead while also reinforcing that section of Fence. "Kunala, coming up from behind!"

In the Barn:

Gareth hurries toward the small buggy, grabbing a barrel of grain as he goes. Heaving the barrel up and into the small cart, he pulls the buggy away from the wall and leans into it hard, pushing it toward the door of the barn, hoping he can get it out in time.

If I remember correctly, I believe the building I am standing against is the barn/stable? Assuming so...

Gareth ducks inside the stables, hoping to find something to reinforce the gate with...

Turning from the fallen corpse, he looks over to his companion at the gate and to the creatures beyond. "This just keeps getting better..." he utters as he glasses around the inn's yard, his mind racing. 'There has to be something we can barricade against the gate. A wagon, some crates, anything, damnit.'

No worries, my confusion was just on expectation of posting frequency. I totally get you were just trying to get things moving on. I figured the others would wait for me to act, thereby preventing a bunch of non-stealthy characters from blowing my chance to take out the lone zombie before it became aware of us. I actually think its kind of fitting as there are often 'growing pains' when people begin to learn to work together.

minor adjustment to my scripted action: given it's position as my deity's favored weapon and my background, I would've drawn my bastard sword.

The element of surprised ruined by his overeager companions, Gareth spits to the side as he charges, swinging his hefty blade two-handed at the shambling corpse's head.

Damn, would've liked to play out my action myself, as my direction to my allies was for them to wait for me to do my action before they moved at all. I was planning to post this evening, but was hoping for a response from at least one of the dwarves before posting. I guess I find myself a little confused by posting protocol on this game.

'Damnit.' It's the first thought that solidifies in Gareth's head as he sees the shambling corpse. Turning to the others and he feels them begin to lower the body of their dead comrade, he gingerly helps lower the heavy load before holding up a hand for the others to stop. With a single finger he taps his chest, then holds it up straight against his lips. Moving finger from his lips, he then crouches a little which pointing at the zombie. Finally, he swings his hand down into his other palm, then points the two dwarves toward the gate, and the large man over toward the zombie. Gareth nods, then seems to await a sense of understanding from his comrades.

"I am quiet. I will sneak over there and attack, then you two dwarves get the gate and Kunala follows after me for support."

M HP: 42 || AC:|| CMD: || Fort:+ Refl:+ Will:+ || Init:+ || Perception:+, darkvision

Gareth had been walking cautiously, scanning the surrounding when the horrid screech broke their silence. 'Damn it all to the nine hells, that cursed shutter.'

As the others discuss the outer gate, Gareth lends his thoughts. "I agree, we should get the outer gate closed, but let's deal with Angar's corpse first. Then the dwarves can head back to the inn, while you go for the gate and I cover your retreat. Sound good?"

M HP: 42 || AC:|| CMD: || Fort:+ Refl:+ Will:+ || Init:+ || Perception:+, darkvision

"When we head out, we move together and quickly. Let's get this dealt with." Never one to trust another's eyes, Gareth leans forward out the door, scanning for the vile walking dead.

With his sword in one hand and the blanket in the other, he steps cautiously through the door...

M HP: 42 || AC:|| CMD: || Fort:+ Refl:+ Will:+ || Init:+ || Perception:+, darkvision

Gareth places a hand on the large man's shoulder as he apologizes about the blanket. "None of us are thinking completely clearly right now, its okay." He assists the warrior in moving the mutilated corpse onto the blanket. Waiting for the two dwarves to get the backend of their makeshift stretcher, he gets his sword out and at the ready for when they make it through the door.

M HP: 42 || AC:|| CMD: || Fort:+ Refl:+ Will:+ || Init:+ || Perception:+, darkvision

Gareth looks to his companions. Not the lot of fifteen, but the three that, like him, have been working to defend this place. "Agreed, let's deal with the body then prepare for the next step. Perhaps we leave the others here while we go for the stock of water, then come back and get them as we move for the food then out of the town. Krukhaut, you coming?"

He moves for the stairs, making sure his bastard sword is loose in its sheath before the descending. 'No idea how fast things are coming back...' He thinks to himself as he turns the corner down the steps.

M HP: 42 || AC:|| CMD: || Fort:+ Refl:+ Will:+ || Init:+ || Perception:+, darkvision

The darkly pale figure stared out the window. To the others in the room, his flesh likely looked more akin to the corpses outside them like each other. He knew it. But it didn't bother him. As the others talked, he continued to watch the shambling dead beyond. 'There has to be an opportunity to slip by. These houses and stores likely hold plentiful supplies. We just need to be quiet recovering it. Then we go.'

Turning toward the others lost in morbid debate, Gareth steps forward. "Yes, we are all going to die. But not now, and not here. Damn this all if it is one bad nightmare, but it's not. So we have to think on our feet, and move with a purpose. Staying here, we all die of starvation. I have no desire to be torn down by those, and it would be a cruel death to be sure. But starvation? That's weeks of suffering. I am definitely not going out like that either. So, we move. We gather what we can as we work to escape this town and head somewhere else. Hopefully out of this cursed undead horde's reach. Are you up for it?"

I feel like appliances only ever break down when other chaos is already going on in your life. Curses

M HP: 42 || AC:|| CMD: || Fort:+ Refl:+ Will:+ || Init:+ || Perception:+, darkvision

Our barbarian avoided getting eaten by the zombie horde!! at least not yet anyway....

M HP: 42 || AC:|| CMD: || Fort:+ Refl:+ Will:+ || Init:+ || Perception:+, darkvision

Damn, so it looks like Kunala the Barbarian and Herb the Hermit have both backed out (Kunala back on the 28th, Herb after you announced the selections). I don't want to see this game die off, @RizzenMagnus, hopefully some of the other candidates might fit?

Glad to hear your wife is okay. Having both severely pulled muscles around my ribs and fractured my ribs, I can concur that such things can be incredibly painful and strange in experience.

Excited to get into the nitty gritty!

So sorry to hear about your wife's troubles. Please know that all our thoughts are with you and her, and hopefully Friday's appointment leads to some resolution or treatment.

My full background has been added to my profile.

Best of luck to all applicants!

This is wanderer82's submission. Crunch, personality, and appearance up, background to be uploaded shortly.

Best of luck to all to all selected. May the Prince of Lies grant your evil endeavors foul yet successful fortune!

@Jing, should any spots open up, I hope you will consider me!

Just wanted to touch back in and state that my Half-Orc Inquisitor of Asmodeus, Gareth Felbranche, is complete (lengthy story with some potential connections along with crunch). Happy to receive any feedback, and wishing everyone luck in this recruitment!

Okay, this is the crunch for Wanderer82's submission. I think I settled on the inquisitor, but am now spinning the concept to merge with the ranger/piracy background. Hoping to get the Fluff, which is currently as swirling cloud of insanity in my brain, typed up and down sometime tomorrow. As for now, a bit of sleep.

Also, I marked any bonuses (archetypes, feats, skills, traits) gained as part of the campaign with a **.
