If you take massive damage, is it possible to spend a hero point to prevent the death? This 'Almost' came up in our last session where our level 1 druid took 28 points of damage from a crit. Luckily she had a buckler raised and didn't realize it has a hardness since it wasn't expressing that in Hero Labs. Luckily I looked it up for her. Anyway wanted to check if she could of used a hero point to keep herself alive. We have read the rules and it seems to express preventing character death, but it also seems to stipulate that the character requires the dying condition to do this. We are not reading anything that Massive Damage begins or adds the dying condition before you would be dead. Thank you.

Hello,

I was wondering what the reason is for the new Alignment changes for clerics and gods?

I've noticed some clerics have as little as one alignment choice, while some have been opened up to four alignment choices for their god.

What is the reason for this?

It seems odd to have some with a lot of opinions while some have none.

Thank you,

Ya nothing out right states you can't have a GMed Chronicle and a player chronicle.

Just wondering if there was anything more clear stating it.

I've been looking for this answer for a while, I see it here on the Forum and have recently heard it from others... But where can I find it written?

I'm just curious to know where this information is.

I'm using fast with my group.

But it's hard to say how well it works since they got side tracked in town and had a whole adventure dealing with one of the threats lurking about the townfolk.

Also my group are not min/max players so they can get in trouble more often than other groups. With that in mind I decided to throw more at them in town to boost their level so they don't get murdered easily in the Spire.

Hello everyone,

I have a different question on a Kineticist defense talent, Flesh of Stone.

From what I can tell it defense talents seems to be always active unless stated otherwise, but I wanted to make sure about this. With the Flesh of Stone talent it does not state that it needs to be activated. It does talk about when the earth kineticist accepts burn the DR of the power increases by 1 until the burn is removed (by resting). So this seems to show that it is a continually active power.

Anyone have a clarification? I just want to make sure I'm using the talent correctly.

So I have recently made a Tetori Monk and saw the Grabbing Style.

It would seem at first that the Tetori Monk and Grabbing style go hand and hand but it seems that only Brawler's furry and Monks with Furry of Blows can take this style.

Does anyone know if the Tetori archetype replacement ability " Graceful grappler" would count as Furry of Blows for the prerequisite for taking the Grabbing style feat?

If not has anyone heard if this will be part of an errata?

I've been reading this thread since it started and have noticed some interesting points aside from the changing of Crane Wing.

It seems many people are looking at builds as if they were looking at the Matrix Code!

We all know this is a game that involves numbers, and that game mechanics allow a steady flow and progress to the game play. But it seems many forget that is also a Role-playing game.

By this I mean it's not just about numbers and what you can do, but about the feel and style as well.

Some builds, characters, feats, or powers maybe more powerful than others in many scenarios, yet many of the feats and builds are not there to just be better or more powerful than the last. It's to create flavor for each and every character that is brought to life by a player.

My flavor, for example, is a Barbarian I play in PFS. He is currently level 7 and I have him wearing +1 Hide armor and his Dex is 16 (with a belt of Dex +2). Now I know I could go get me some nice shiny mitheral full-plate and have a much better AC (It's currently 20 with his armor dex, a amulet of +1 Nat armor, and a ring of protection +1), but that would not give the roleplaying flavor of this character.

Sometimes it's about the style and flavor over the mechanics and numbers.

As for Crane Wing I feel the change is fine. At least it still fits the flavor of the Style it was intending to express.

I think this a good thing, I was in a game with a player that was a monk/druid. He had Crane wing and he just couldn't be touched. We were playing the Way of the Kiran Tor scenrio an and it was a little crazy. The Oracle at the end of the game could not touch him at all.

The one that is mostly in question is Crystalline special marterial, It's from the Underdark Adventure guide. (Which is third party)

Well the question is the thread name. I'm always thought that all weapons or armor made out of special materials had to be master work. Most of the material given in the Players handbook state that they must be masterwork because of the cost. I would also think that because your working with a rare or hard to use material they had to be made at high quality.

I was reading summon swarm spell and noticed that is states,

"If no living creatures are within its area, the swarm attacks or pursues the nearest creature as best it can."

Does this also include undead? I know undead are not living creatures, but they are also not really dead. Has there been any clarification on this?

So I was reading up on the Low Templar prestige class since this is the year of the Demon in Society. I read the Damnation/Redemption ability that is gained at level 10 ( so you would be level 16 when you get it) and noticed that the Templar gains a planar cohort as if they had the leadership feat.

I was wondering if this was allowed in Society play, so I checked the player resource and did not see any alteration to Low Templar. But I also noticed that it didn't clerify that Low Templar was legal. It only lists hell knight and low Templar after prestige classes. So I wanted to also know if they were legal as well.

So I am making a Cleric/Wizard/Mystic Theuge and had a question about what powers increase when leveling as Mystic Theuge. After reading a bit I have found that things that are based on caster level continue to increase with levels of Mystic Theuge like Domain spells.

I was wondering about Arcane School powers; as you level as Mystic Theuge do you continue to gain the powers of your selected Arcane School?

MMM, I like that. I have never liked it being named Lawful since it has caused confusion and misunderstanding in the past for some of my players. Order would be a much better term and I may just change that in my own games.

Thanks for the question.

I understand how Touch AC can seem really low. I had a player that was using the new gun rules and it was almost impossible for him to miss the touch of the stone giants. The one thing I did notice is that the base damage of guns dropped with ranged touch gun rules. Depending on what powers they are using with each shot, it should be about the same as arrows. Make sure he is reloading as well. Even with rapid reload feat check how he is going about doing it and look over the rules when it comes to reloading a gun.

I do agree with more monsters! I have a friend that just won't learn to use more monster rather than just one big powerful one. At higher levels your party of 4 to 6 is going to get about 7-11 attacks to 12-20 a round vs one monster.

Also make sure they are keeping track of ammo. Guns are not all that common and unless he has lots of materials on hand to made the bullets he will have to go buy them.

Make spells that protect against arrows also protect against bullets! Simple and fair.

As for the Alchemist he will have a shorter range than the others. Use that! Also spells that can mess with his potions that he tosses can help too. Shatter is wonder if used as a quickened reaction against them!
