At the age of seventeen, Galyth Kallios had everything a young nobleman of Taldor could ask for. A stable family, friends, a pending commission with the military and betrothal to a beautiful noblewoman.

He ran away instead, leaving it all behind.

Away from home, Galyth found that the world away from his family's estate was considerably less kind. On the mornings when he woke up in a gutter with a headache and considerably less coin, he sometimes wondered why he left in the first place. He liked to think that he had rejected a stale life full of planned but tame successes in return for a true shot at glory. In more honest moments, he had to admit that the truth was rather more muddled than that. Most likely, he had left home in a spurt of sudden yet mundane rebelliousness.

In any case, Galyth's life was considerably less comfortable now. And rather poorer. At the same time, he treasured the lessons life outside the staid confines of his parents' plans had taught him and kept his eyes open for his big chance.

His path eventually took him to Isger, where he served for a time as a mercenary supplementing the local guard, together with a small group of rowdy but good-hearted adventurers. There, he was introduced to the faith of Cayden Cailean and eventually converted. Matters came to a head after a Chelaxian inspector came through the area and demanded that the mercenaries swear loyalty to House Thrune. Galyth chose instead to leave (under breach of contract according to the local magistrate), paid his fines and traveled south to Andoran.

When the call came from the Bountiful Venture Company came, Galyth was ready.

* Galyth has worked for Alba Divenvaar before as a scout and a guard on an expedition into the Chitterwood that finished uneventfully. They're not good friends, but when Galyth learned that Alba was joining the expedition, he asked her to put in a good word for him. He isn't certain whether she did.

* Raerg and Galyth got into a fight in a dock tavern back in Absalom two years ago (Galyth lost). The half-orc seems to have recognized him, but hasn't addressed the issue.

* Galyth knows of Harcourt Carrolby only by reputation, through business dealings the man had with his family. He's concerned that the noble might recognize him and send word back to Taldor, and has been avoiding Harcourt during the voyage.
