Male Human Knight 1
Galen steps forward to speak to the leader of the guards.
Knowledge (nobility) 7+3=10
"I am Sir Galen Kranath, and yes, I am of the Swordstars. I met my large friend here, in the wild on my way to Mema-Nova, and he was in need of assistance. I was honor bound to lend it. The two men and the halfling I met outside the city gates, and they were in search of the same thing as Scarrd. Namely, work. So I agreed to escort them all to a place where they could find it. Unfortunately, we ran afoul of a thief. We had him cornered in this shop here, but he refused to surrender. He was offered the chance to leave peacefully, as well, but chose instead to attack with cowardice the young lady here, so we tried again to prevent his escape. We were, unfortunately, unsuccessful.
Scarrd, you do need to lower your weapon. This is a city of laws, and the watch is the enforcer of those laws."
Diplomacy check 14+2=16
Male Human Knight 1
Galen steps out of the way of the newly small thief (5' step), and readies an action. As soon as Bri is out of reach of the thief, he will run out of the store and order Filaren to attack. If the thief runs, Galen will give chase.
Male Human Knight 1
Initiative 12+1=13
"You may be able to walk out of this store, but you won't be able to flee for long." Galen is trying to stall for time for the city watch to arrive.
Male Human Knight 1
Galen will go by the laws of the city. If the thief can return the money and be set free, so be it. If not, he will still attempt to apprehend him. What does the law say?
Male Human Knight 1
"You had to shrink him, didn't you?"
Not really blaming you of course, but it fits the situation.
Male Human Knight 1
Galen executes a fast dismount 12+10-1(Armor Check Penalty)=21 and runs into the store after the thief. He takes a swing at the thief, yelling "I warned you!"
Attack 5+4=9
And proceeds to swing right over the head of the now shorter thief.
Male Human Knight 1
15+4+1-4=16 8+3=11 hp nonlethal damage
"Stop or with the next swing you will feel the edge of my blade, not the flat!"
Intimidate check 17+6=23
For the sake of the good rolls I'm getting here, I hope this isn't a random encounter
Male Human Knight 1
Galen's Ride check should be good enough to get him to the thief with no more than a double move (120' for a light warhorse). Upon reaching the thief, he attacks. 18-4 (non-lethal damage with the sword) +1 (higher ground) +4=19. If this hits, roll 5+3=8 points of nonlethal damage
Male Human Knight 1
Initiative 6+1=7. My first action will be the ride through the streets. 19+10=29 for my ride check, assuming the take ten was for the quick mount. If that counts for the ride check, too, then it would be 20.
Male Human Knight 1
Galen starts scanning the crowd for the man she describes.
Spot check 18-1=17. If I see him, then Ride check take 10+10=20 to mount up and ride after him through the street.
Male Human Knight 1
Galen looks down at the little girl.
"I'm not too good to talk to you, young lady, but how hard can it be to get to the Giant's Skull? I don't think we need a lot of help with navigation. But if you need to earn a few coppers..."
Galen presses 3cp in her hand.
Male Human Knight 1
Male Human Knight 1
"She's a long ways off. I'm from the village of Vod, and if you've never heard of it, I'm not surprised. It's a little ranching village about 20 miles south of Mema-Nova. A good days walk from that city. I wasn't planning on getting there tonight, in any case."
Male Human Knight 1
I can't access the map from here (the work web filters block it), but Galen is from a ranching village just south of Mema-Nova, so however far away that is.
Male Human Knight 1
Galen's smile broadens.
"I would be happy for the company. Do not feel bad about the delay, I'm sure she's fine. I just miss her, and have not had word of her in some time."
Male Human Knight 1
"They are more than the city guards. They are a knightly order dedicated to the safety of the city. To that end they support the city watch, to be sure. But they also patrol the area around the city, protect the outlying farms, and especially the road between here and Millvale. It is an order that requires dedication and training to join." Galen puffs up a little with this last.
"And once you do join, you are a member for life. But my time of enlistment was up, and I felt the need to go home to check on my sister. She is the only family I have left. I was on my way there when I met Scardd, and abandoning those in need is not part of my ethos. I just did not expect to be back in the city so soon. And certainly not heading for Demons Gate!"
Male Human Knight 1
Galen takes the lead, pausing only slightly at the edge of Demon's Gate. He feels a thrill entering this previously taboo part of the city, but it passes into watchfulness as he navigates the streets to the Firehole. As they walk, he relates the halfling's information to Tuon.
"...so probably not someone you want to go to for employment, but her status bears keeping in mind if someone offers you a bounty on goblin ears. You don't want to hunt her cousin for sport."
Male Human Knight 1
Galen nods and heads back inside, getting the shopkeeps attention.
"Good morning, my small friend. I am recently returned to this fair city, and I have seen a sight I found most curious."
He goes on to describe the goblin and the two ogres he saw in Demon's Gate, and asks the shopkeep if he has heard anything about this trio.
Male Human Knight 1
Galen walks over to Tuon.
"You seem to be expecting some trouble, my friend. Is there something I should know about?"
Male Human Knight 1
Galen leans to Scardd and says, "Luck is with you, my friend. You seem to have met more than one person of chivalry during your trials. And I know you will return the favor when the day for that arrives."
Boo-yah DM
Male Human Knight 1
"Scardd seems to be enjoying his meal with gusto. It seems losing one's memory doesn't interfere with appetite."
Galen pays for his and Scardd's meal.
"Whenever we're all ready, we can head for Giant's Skull."
Male Human Knight 1
Following the introductions, Galen replies to the woman.
"I'm sure I'll miss the Swordstars as well, but it was time to start for home. Of course, I find myself back in Keepers Dale sooner than I had ever expected. My companions are indeed hungry, and have pledged to maintain civility. They were on thier way to Giant's Skull for breakfast and to find work, but I thought they shouldn't be risking thier lives on their first meal."
Male Human Knight 1
"Look around you. This city is a trading crossroads, and we get all kinds of folk here. I've even heard rumors of half-fiends from the Demon Wastes living in the city, although I've never seen one myself. There shouldn't be a problem based on how you look. Keep it civilized, and you ought to be all right."
Male Human Knight 1
"Most of the temples are found in Wellhall, so I would look there first. I do believe there is a temple to Kord there, and they occasionally put on displays in the city park nearby. Wrestling, displays of strength, that sort of thing, mostly during festival days."
For DM:

Male Human Knight 1
Galen heads off through the city, describing points of interest along the way, mostly sticking to the military history of the city.
"These new walls were improved after the major goblin attack 17 years ago. At the time they were able to breach the walls fairly early in the siege, and many townsfolk were slain.
That well over there? It's actually a passage to the Underdark. See all the guardposts around? It was the site of a drow incursion shortly after the founding of Keepers Dale. Sealing it off didn't seem to make much sense, since a new tunnel could be dug anywhere. Instead, a memorial to those who died was built in the form of a well, and it's used as a way to get to the guardposts down below.
Ths here is where a Demon from the peak came all the way into the city, before a pair of Pelorian clerics sacrificed themselves, allowing the city watch to finish them off. That's why they call it Demon's Gate."
And with that they arrive at their destination
"Giant's Skull is a couple of blocks down that way. But we'll eat breakfast here at the Lion's Head. Not the poshest of inn's, but the food is solid, and Marune is good company. As soldiers, we weren't allowed through the Demon's Gate in our off-duty time, but some of us would come down here just as a way to see how far we could push things. This was about it."
Male Human Knight 1
"Well met. I am Sir Galen Kranath. It appears you had some trouble on the journey. Not any more than usual, I trust. If it's breakfast you desire, I know of places far more suitable than the Giant's Skull. We can head there after our meal. Your friends look like thye could use a meal as well."
As he points to Bri and Tuon, Galen whispers to the half-orc, "Your meal will be taken care of, have no worries about scrubbing dishes your first day in Keepers Dale."
Male Human Knight 1
Listen check 13-1=12
"I know of the Giant's Skull. I was never allowed to go there. Let me put on something less conspicuous. A swordstar wouldn't really be welcome there, and I wouldn't want to go in proclaiming it. Since it seems those folks are looking for the same place, I can guide all of you there."
Galen goes to the three adventurers in line at the city gates.
"I couldn't help but overhear. Would you like a guide to the Giants Skull? It's a rough neighborhood, and there's safety in numbers."
Male Human Knight 1
Galen observes the caravan with a knowing eye.
"All of the fresh goods in the city mean you should be able to find what you need, and probably won't get gouged too badly. The people of Keepers Dale are pretty tolerant in general, but not everyone will treat a half-orc with respect. I'll take you to some of the more reputable shops in town. Do you have money, or will you be looking for work here?"
Spot check 2-1=1. Not noticing anything special about those three over by the caravan, nosiree.
Male Human Knight 1
Galen pulls another javelin from behind his back, takes aim at a large tree, and throws.
attack roll 20 + 2=22
I wasted a natural 20 on a TREE!! (Insert inappropriate words here)
"I use them as a way to keep enemies at bay. But here, let me show you."
He pulls padding from his pack to cover the weapons and begins some basic attack and defense drills with the half-orc, hoping muscle memory will come into play.
Male Human Knight 1
After an hour of quiet travel, Galen begins to speak.
"So is there anything you do remember about your past? You said you wished to find weapons. Are these anything you could use?"
Galen produces a pair of javelins and hands them to the half-orc.
Male Human Knight 1
"I joined the Giledean army as a way to seek my fortune, so I could help my sister and myself get away from where we where. Don't get me wrong, I am thankful that Ordell took us in, but I had more in mind for my life than being a stableboy, and my sister deserves more than a life as a serving wench. And I suppose I am still a Knight, but I don't feel comfortable proclaiming it. I left the service to head home, and once you join the Swordstars you do so for life. Leaving was not an easy decision, but I wish to know what has happened at home. Uggh, this isn't making any sense. It's complicated.
The goblins around here have been a problem for years, but the city militia usually keeps the roads fairly safe. I am surprised to see two attacks so close to one another. I will help you get your answers. My friends in the knighthood can help there. But I still feel the need to go home soon."
Male Human Knight 1
Galen shrugs and follows the half-orc, whistling the Follow command to Filaren.
Handle Animal, if necessary...Take 10+8=18
"So tell me more of this battle with the goblins. If the dwarf healed you, and it still looks like that, you must have sustained a horrific wound."
Male Human Knight 1
"You mentioned a Dwarf champion, but you don't know where he is. Perhaps we should try to find this champion before we go to Keepers Dale."
Male Human Knight 1
"Tis not my road to allow or disallow. But if you wish to travel to the city in the South, I know the way, and would be glad to escort you. The city is called Keepers Dale, by the way. What say you, shall we travel together?"
Galen dismounts.
"I am Sir Galen Kranath. What is your name?"
Male Human Knight 1
"You needn't fear me."
Galen displays his surcoat, which still displays the emblem of the Gileadan Swordstars.
"I am...was a Swordstar Knight, and we do not attack those who cannot defend themselves. I do not say this as an slight to your fighting prowess, for your scars show you to be one who does not shy from battle. Rather, I say this to allay your aprehension. I will not attack you without just cause, and not until you are ready to face me in honorable battle. You do not seem to be an enemy, and I thank you for your warning of those who may be. Is it your intention to face them, or to warn others who may be traveling this way?"
Male Human Knight 1
Galen spins Filaren around on the trail, hand instinctively reaching for his sword until he sees the unarmed and ragged half-orc. Still wary of the danger that seemed to creep up from nowhere, he asks, "How do you know of the evil that lies ahead? Are they allies of yours, or enemies you have escaped?"
Male Human Knight 1
Galen stops and stares at the spot in the bushes where his horse is looking. Search check 11+1=12. "Nothing there," he mutters to himself, and spurs the horse along the patrol route. Ride Check take 10+10=20. Or Handle Animal 19+8=27.
I seem to be fitting right in with this group and the luck of the dice. Using the WoTC Dice Roller might not be the best idea
Male Human Knight 1
Spot check 12-1=11. "Hmmm," Galen thinks to himself, "there seems to be a bit of dirt on my saddle." He is polishing the saddle.
Probably to the wonderment of a certain half-orc, who may just wet himself laughing at the oblivious human
Male Human Knight 1
Listen check 5-1=4
Galen is listening to the comfortingly familiar sounds of the hoofsteps Filaren is making, still used to the idea of company scouts warning of danger, should there be any.

Galen is ready to go. Post away and I will reply within 12. Also, should I read the full PbP up to this point, or would you rather I not?
Male Human Knight 1
Here is Sir Galen Kranath. Dreamweaver, take a look and let me know if this is ready to go, or if you need any more information.
