The childhood dream of Hannibal Krupt was shared by all his friends in the upper class district of Eledar. To join the Sargavan navy, sail all over the world and defend his home. What made Hannibal different from the other kids was that he pursued it while his friends settle for a life of city dwelling. The youngling could never picture himself managing the family farms at the head of Krupt Trade.CO and spending the rest of his live among livestock or sitting at a desk in Eledar watching the sun rise and set through a window. Gellius and Gollor, his young brothers, could very well take care of that. For him life was only worth it if he could be with his true love, the blue oceans.
To quench his craving of the open sea he devised a plan. Using his family influence with the temple of Iomedae he applied for a paladinhood. That got a light censure from Rutilus and Eleonor Krupt, his parents. While they were pious people and from a very progressive family (his grandmother was an Elf!). They expected their oldest son to take care of the family business. When he used his apprentice status to get an officer position at the sargavan navy his parents were outraged. They parted ways with harsh words and hurted feelings. He told himself he didn't care anymore. He finally had his one true love, the sea, and that made him the happiest man in Sargava.
He served aboard the warship Crown's Fist for a full year until it got sunk on one of the periodic power struggles between the government and the free captains. On the after match of the combat he was captured and press ganged into service as slave labor aboard the pirate ship The Hook.
As the years went by he crawled his way into a full crew member position and later on became first mate earning a reputation as a ruthless knave that usually killed everything he couldn't sweet talk. Hannibal Krupt is no more. Galego Hans hardly remembers the name and the bleached memories that seem to belong to somebody else. But not everything of the old paladin apprentice died, the pirate kept his sense of honor in a twisted way.
Deep down Hans could never forget his years as a slave on the holds of The Hook and hated his captain with a passion. After a failed mutiny attempt One-Handed Markus, the captain, made him walk the plank with his legs chained to an spare anchor believing that would be the end of him. Using the elven magic in his blood, that he always kept secret, Hans managed to escape the chains and swim to the surface. Adrift for days he lost his right foot to a shark attack only surviving thanks to his outwordly "gifts". He was finally rescued by a passing ship and currently resides in Port Peril healing his wounds and plotting vengeance.
