Aerys ignores Kalis, growing neither angrier nor more subdued. When Petry returns, she pours her full attention to the map he's sharing. "Yes. I think the hill is best. There will be no ships passing on the north side of the island - at least purposefully - so there is no benefit to being on the beach. Being on the hill is defensible and having a source of fresh water and the potential for fish is ideal. I am sure Ishirou will concur."

Please note, Jask managed to recover 8 rations during his hunt today.

Again, Aerys turns angry. "You think I don't know that? You think I am a fool? Yes. I need the drink. But I don't need to explain myself to you. We will find more drink or I will no longer need it. It is that simple. Now, let's talk of something else or nothing at all."

Aerys looks down to the ground when Petry speaks. She lifts her head and says softly, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to snap." She smiles slightly at his joke, but seems intent on staring into the fire. At his question, she raises her head and says, "That damned flask I threw in there. I don't see it any longer, though I am surprised it would have burnt so quickly."

As Petry moves around camp, taking care of some tasks, Aerys emerges from her tent. She looks sullen. When Petry asks who's caring for the goats, she snaps, "I am caring for them. Do you think I am capable of nothing?" Most of the time she is peering into the fire, as if she's looking for something.

At the mention of the captain, Aerys stands, draws her longbow and notches an arrow in the blink of an eye. It's almost as if she thinks you've brought him back with you. "Where is the bastard?" she asks. "I desire to have a word with him."

Aerys smiles weakly at Allia's words. "Thank you. I haven't been myself since landing here. The wreck has shaken me more than I would care to admit to most others." She pauses, then continues. [b]"I am not gifted musically. I am...well...I...no. I am not gifted creatively. Period." She turns away.

Aerys' attitude has improved to Indifferent.

Hearing her name, Aerys peeks her head out of the tent. "I said nothing of the sort, gnome," she says. [b]"I don't believe I ever used the word 'dumb.' There's a significant difference, I think."

She steps out of the tent, looking to the ground. To the group gathered, she says, "You lot seem to be able to handle yourself quite well. I am...grateful...to have you here." She takes a seat near the fire, saying nothing more.

Aerys' eyes grow wide and the hint of a smile slowly creeps across her face as Meraxes whispers to her. She simply nods and begins and unpacking her things.

Aerys doesn't stop packing to listen to Meraxes' words. As he finishes speaking, she slowly stops packing. She chuckles a little at the jab at Kalis. "Your words are true - though I hate to hear them. I shall stay. For now."

Aerys' attitude shifts back to Unfriendly. Kalis, you take a -4 penalty for any diplomacy checks with Aerys in the future.

Aerys looks at Kalis without saying anything for a moment. Then, her face turns angry. "You think that I'm stupid? That I'm some foolish girl who thinks good things fall from the sky? Of course not." She stands and begins gathering her things. "I suppose all of you think I'm just a foolish girl. Well, I won't bother you any longer. I'll find my own way off of this damnable island." With that, she goes to work gathering up her gear.

Aerys' attitude shifts to Hostile. One person will have one shot at keeping her in camp, if you want to take it.

Allia:

Your spell detects nothing.

"I don't suppose you managed to pilfer any rum in your pack before the wreck, did you?" Aerys asks wryly.

At Allia's question about knowing how a ship works, Aerys looked up from her crying, but says nothing.

Every time Aerys drinks from her flask of water she grimaces. Turning to Allia she asks, "I don't suppose your little cold water trick could make this water brandy, could it?" She doesn't sound like she's joking.

A few moments later she begins to cry. Her head is buried in her hands as she quietly sobs.

Aerys is growing impatient as well. "Oh, just free the man. He's a harmless old cleric. Now, was there any rum left on board? It would help...calm my nerves."

"I spoke with the first mate yesterday. I've been sailing all of my life. I knew our heading was worrying. He assured me it was going to be fine. The captain is not a fool. He has made this trip many times. He is well aware of The Shiv. How could this have happened?"

At Kalis' words, Aerys grows angry. "You may need water. I need a drink." In an instant, the anger turns to despair. "No...booze? No...rum? Maybe...the ship?"

"Thank you. I will go look for him there." As she turns to leave, you catch the unmistakeable scent of alcohol.

Aerys comes up from the belly of the ship and squints in the sunlight. She says, to no one in particular, "My Gods, the sun is bright today." She walks over the group gathered. This is one of the first times she has approached anyone other than crew. "Have any of you seen the captain? I'd like to speak with him about...well, regardless, have you seen him?"
