The group moves toward the truck and the headless corpse.

Dagon says:
Dagon moves closer jogging across the dunes. "I observed them using a targeter, I suspect they were a spotter or at least a scout."

Dromichaetes says:
"We speed our advance to seize the initiative."

Dromichaetes will have to go prone to find hard cover or move beside the burning truck (your sensors suggest you don't do this). Finding enough cover for a marine is going to be difficult in this landscape.

Lorg says
"What they dare target me. I will flay them alive"

You move closer and closer to the site of the downed man. The twisted pieces of their destroyed targeter can be seen strewn about where a small tripod stood supporting it minutes ago. Their cloths are plain and their camo was just a cloak of the right colour.

On the body itself you find a well made lasgun. Definitely of Imperial design but sporting nothing suggest reverence to any God of the Machine.

In a combat vest you find megre bottle of water and hardly half a days rations. In the vest there is a cable coiling away from a standard power pack towards where the head used to be.

The body is male and you are alone under the harsh sun.

Tracks lead away from the area.

Dagon Says:
"Contact" Dagon raises his combi bolter and levels it swiftly at the new target. He smiled inside his helm, he was pleased at the new scope. He sends the shot straight at the spotters head "Right there, but not alone I think."

He is not surprised but does not try to dodge.

The spotter's head explodes as the bolt goes straight through the targeter into his skull.

You are out of combat but a clock may be running.

Please roll awareness as you move closer.

The group slowly moves forward taking in an appraisal of the burning 14 wheeler truck.

Dromichaetes says:
"The ground is too hot to touch safely. And the radiation levels are lower, but not to safe levels. I do not yet recommend removing your helmets."

Dromichaetes:
You detect nothing of interest within the 50m range of your Embedded Auspex. You may want to stop using it outdoors.

Lorg does not have a hand free to count the treasure if he's carry the armour.

Unseen actions:

Spotter's awareness: 1d100 ⇒ 16
Spotter's Fear test: 1d100 ⇒ 36
Spotter's shock: 1d100 ⇒ 37
Fear grips the character and he begins to shake and tremble. He is at a –10 penalty on all tests for the rest of the Encounter
unless he can recover his wits

Dagon:
You spot a lonely individual lying prone & camouflaged on a sand dune. He is currently 120m away and he is aiming a targeter directly at your position.

Initiative rolls:

Dagon's initiative: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 131d10 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14 14
Dromichaetes' initiative: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 13
Korg's initiative: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 51d10 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 10
Lorg's initiative: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14 14
Spotter's initiative: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 14

Both Dagon and the Spotter have a surprise round.

The group moves towards the smoke.

Lorg says:
"We should go towards the smoke, there's bound to be someone to eat there"

Dagon says:
"That settles any doubts as to whethers its warp influence. Perhaps we are on some charming daemon world... or wretched little Imperial backwater. Either way unknown opportunities await."

"The smoke makes sense. Given the radiation in the last area it might be best to forgo the bodies flesh if fresh opportunities beckon ahead but if someone wants to indulge in their portion by all means... assumingn the radiation is lower here?"

Dromichaetes says:
"Even with assistance, this container resists my intrusion measures. I will tackle it in a more secure area."

Dromichaetes:
The radiation levels are lower but not by much. The group is too hot to touch with bare flesh.

"A more pristine world I have not visited in some time. And that was to burn it. Towards the smoke indeed."

Korg says:
"Let's head that way so. In the mean time is it safe to remove our helmets once more?"

Lorg says:
"I'm sure it's completely safe for you to take your helmet off."

Korg says:
"Ha ha yes, joking is good to maintain morale. Especially considering how long we were stuck in that damned room eh? I like you Lorg."

As you move the source of the smoke comes into view. Ahead of you is the burning remains of a large 14 wheeler truck.

Please roll awareness if you wish to move closer.

The group makes a decision.

Dagon says:
"Very well. I have interest in the chestplate, recoil supresion or repair cement might be of some use to me. My own suit has an enhanced chestplate but the gorgets seem to be a useful design element."

"Let's move towards the spec of light. It would be more enticing to fresh meat."

Dromichaetes says:
"That is a logical point, Dagon. Let us do so."

Dromichaetes finds an Arms Coffer concealed behind broken bricks in a wall. Security -30 and a few minutes to attempt to open.

The group emerges from the underground canal into blinding day light. As your eyes adjust you are greeted by barren landscape. The sky is dominated by a great yellow sun and crisscrossed by green lightning.

You can see smoke rising from just over the horizon.

The group discusses divvying the loot as Dromichaetes leads the way.

Dromichaetes says:
"I would have the magnetised boot soles, when the time comes. This way."

Lorg stuffs the helmet with treasure before replacing it and throwing the whole suit of armour on his back.

Lorg says:
"Of course I saw the door close, Dagon. I'll take the autosenses in his helmet, I used mine up making Screams"

Dromichaetes is able to lead the group out of the vast echoing chamber into smaller but equally unwelcoming passages. After a few hours the group stumbles upon an empty canal.

In one direction to canal goes towards a dull speck of light.

In another it goes towards the distant rumbling you heard earlier.

Which do you choose?

If you are moving on, can one person roll Navigate (Surface). Others may assist.

Also someone will need to carry the suit of armour in their arms.

Korg steps back from his murderous quest to destroy loot and the group's first domestic ends.

Dagon says:
"Likely the subsystems can be divided up. The combiscope does lend towards my speciality. It would seem reasonable if that if I claimed that I would be forth in the order of choosing remaining functioning subsystems. Each chooses one then we start again."

"Ammo is easy to divide evenly. The bolter and combat knife... could be useful for trade."

Korg says:
"Ah excellent, we should be able to get a good amount of food from this poor chap. Strange pauldrons though eh?" Korg says cheerfully

"Apologies for the outburst lads, hunger got the better of me. We should try stock up on some in the future"

Lorg says:
"First lets find out how he died."

Lorg:
It appears he died of starvation. His muscle mass is severely reduced and he was likely severely dehydrated at the point of death. It's like the idiot just waited here until he died.

The door behind you shuts.

The domestic incident continues.

Dagon keeps his eyes on Korg's back.

Dagon says:
"I'll keep an eye out for any trouble. Korg if you want to kill yourself with radiation exposure I wont stop you but don't go hacking to pieces some useful gear perhaps we'll claim the replacement parts from your own. World Eater or not you're a Legionnaire show some discipline."

GM:
Readied action, if Korg makes a move for Dagon he'll fly straight up.

Dagon, Dromichaetes and Lorg:

Dagon opens a frequency to Lorg and Dromicaetes without Korg...

Dagon says:
<Korg's impulse control is getting a little concerning. I suggest if his hunger gets the better of him and he attacks any of us we have an accord in place. Not if someone baits him but we can carve him for gear and food to satiate our own hungers if he gives in?>

Dromicaetes says:
<Agreed. On all counts.>

Lorg says:
<I get his head. I need a replacement for the one he broke>

Dromicaetes says:
<I do not object, should it come to pass.>

Dromicaetes says:
"Deadly radiation levels, Korg. If you remove your helmet to feed, you will soon be a corpse too. And not in glorious combat either. If you still wish to feed-"

Dromichaetes pops out and removes the helmet as he speaks.

"-then I will more efficiently remove the armour first. The head is already visible so you can start on that. Should you still wish to eat here and now."

Lorg says:
"You b!#&&. I wanted to be the one to kill him."

Lorg manages to salvage Scream's rifle.

Initiative: Korg, Dagon, Dromichaetes & Lorg.

Initiative:

Dagon: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 111d10 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Dromichaetes: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Lorg: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Dagon, Dromichaetes, Lorg and Korg.

Korg is last because he has just walked over to the corpse. Initiate started when he announced his intention.

Dromichaetes and Korg are standing over the corpse. Dagon and Lorg are 8m away.

Dagon is armed because his Bolter is always in his hands. Lorg's hands are full of treasure (He still needs to explain how he's going to carry this). Dromichaetes isn't armed as he just examined the corpse. Korg is armed.

The group has a domestic incident.

Lorg looks down distracted by the treasure on the floor. He grabs as much as he can.

You will need to explain how you are carrying this.

Korg kills Screams, rending the servo skull into a cloud of broken parts, visceral and brain.

Dromichaetes speaks before Lorg can react to the death of his minion.

Dromichaetes says:
"Both of you, cease your foolishness. I detect planetary gravity. Escape - or our end - nears. Background radiation levels are deadly, so do not remove your helmets. And to the north, there is a dead astartes. I will investigate."

The marines armour is black. His right shoulder pad is that of the crimson fist but his left is something else entirely. You remember seeing this emblem on the large vault back on the ship. His armour appears to be a complete suit of Mark VIII Errant Power Armour. His Bolter is well maintained but he's down to just a full clip in the gun. The Bolter has a combi-scope (Telescopic and RedDot combined). The marine had no supplies remaining other than armour cement and his combat knife. There are markings chalked into the column above his head.

FL (Adeptus Astartes) -40:

It's Deathwatch. You know they are made up of squads drawn from multiple chapters and fight Xenos for the Inquisition.

FL (Adeptus Astartes):

The markings are marine codex wayfinding marks pointing to a tunnel to the north.

Korg starts moving toward the body after Dromichaetes finishes looking over it.

Korg
"more food you say? Excellent"

Roll initiative.

Dagon's Awareness 66: 1d100 ⇒ 90

The group has now gone 3 days without resupply.

You exit the sphere into a vast echoing chamber, illuminated only by the systems in your helmets.

The ground is littered with all manner of gold coins, gems, and trinkets.

While the air is hot and humid.

The ceiling is hundreds of metres above you suspending on giant columns.

Auspex with Tech-Use:

The background radiation levels are extremely high. Without the protection of your suits you would be dead within hours.

You do not detect any threats within the 50ft range of the auspex.

You do detect signs of planetary gravity. :)

Awareness:

You are alone.

There is a deep rumbling sound coming from the east.

To the north you can see a large pillar with the body of a black armored space marine slumped against it. Still holding his Bolter.

You will need to move closer to examine the scene.

The sphere is right behind you to the south. About 50m from the column.

The group enters the black wrapped corridor.

Lorg is in front as he moves to open the other door.

He is followed in order by Korg, Dagon, Dromichaetes and Screams.

Dromichaetes says:
"No anomalous electromagnetic radiation detected. Proceed."

Lorg says:
"Haha gaze in wonder at Lorg revealer of ways. Screams stay here and guard me."

The moment Lorg touches the door, the previous one closes and the corridor gets very very dark.

A long moment passes - and then again and again and again.

Two days later as he group was starting to get a little testy. The way forward opens.

You have successfully completed the introduction to the campaign in record time the narrator says. "But where in the universe have you escaped to?" he adds before awarding the group XP and fading out.

everyone get's 1000xp, +6 Infamy, +3 Corruption success. The game will continue once all character sheets have been updated.

Dromichaetes' scan confirmed the visual shape of the corridor. Nothing happened on the electromagnetic spectrum when it opened.

The group watches as Lorg touches the door.

Dagon says:
"There are some minute glyphs here but I don't know their meaning, perhaps someone else has knowledge of them."

Dromichaetes says:
"I say cut away, Korg. I will have auspex readings from the response, if any."

Dagon moves back with his bolter in hand ready to provide covering fire.

Dagon says:
"I'll cover you if an enemy comes forth."

Lorg says:
"Wait before you do I have an idea."

Lorg does not interface with the sphere so his corruption attempt is being ignored, but he did touch the door.

The door opens when Lorg touches it. Revealing a corridor inside with another similar door at the end. The walls and floor of the corridor are jet black.

Dromichaetes' scan confirms the visual shape of the corridor.

Dagon and Korg approach the door as the group watches from the start of the catwalk.

Dagon is unable to find any visible means of opening the door. He discovers a ring of completely unintelligible characters barely a millimetre high around the door. He is not able to learn anything about their meaning.

Korg will need to roll awareness on the check in this post if he wants to check for enemies.

Korg says:
"Ye want me to cut into this too chaps?"

The groups takes in the big shiny ball.

Dromichaetes says:
"Basic technomat tools. Dead servitors. The Sphere is solid, impenetrable to standard auspex. The local stellar radiation cannot be detected here. It is unclear whether this blockage is the intended function of the sphere, or a byproduct of its true function."

Lorg lectures Screams:
"Don't talk back to me. I made you and I can unmake you."

Lorg says:
"This is clearly not standard imperial tech. I shall preform some experiments."

He picks up a tool and throws it at the sphere. It strikes the sphere and drops straight to the ground, silently and without any theatrics. As if all momentum was absorbed. A moment passes and you can hear the sound of the tool slapping off every beam on the way down.

Dagon says:
"It could be something they salvaged and couldn't handle... those reactions are typical for the unknown."

Dagon leads the way as the groups moves into the unsealed corridor putting aside their current goal for a time.

The overbuilt and slab construction of the ships corridors give way to a network of large beams and reinforced scaffolding. You are no longer inside an Imperial Starship instead it's as if you are walking towards a large chamber concealed deep inside an Imperial Starship.

After a time the chamber opens up revealing a large sphere suspending in the centre and joined to you by a catwalk.

The sphere is shimmering and undecorated accept for a round door at the end of the catwalk.

From you where you stand the sphere is bigger than your field of vision.

The area is unnaturally dark and quiet.

Awareness:

You are alone and there is nothing to be found other than basic technomat's tools and several long dead labour servitors.

Forbidden Lore (Xenos) -40:

Please don't read spoilers. If Dagon passes this test, I'll post info.

Augur Array with Tech-Use +20:

The sphere appears completely solid to your sensors. As you move closer you can no longer feel the radiation of the star you're orbiting.

Screams does not detect anything warp related. If asked he will casually mention the group members themselves. While being passive aggressive towards Lorg.

The group stands idle as Dagon walks for forward.

Dagon says:
"I have the measure of its construction now. I'll not damage my chainsword."

Damage:

Damage pen 3: 1d10 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20
Damage pen 3: 1d10 + 13 ⇒ (10) + 13 = 23
Damage pen 3: 1d10 + 13 ⇒ (9) + 13 = 22

Dagon proceeds to through the wall in seconds with his Legion Chainsword.

Korg decides to take care of the cutting as the Dagon finishes the job.

Korg says:
"Khorne almighty! I guess I'll do it so"

Dromichaetes is not able to provide any useful advice as his auspex scan did not provide any information on weak points

The group may enter the unsealed corridor but the place will remain vapid and undescribed until the GM gets home from work and has access to his notes.

Dagon steps up as the group watches.

After a minute of stabbing at the wall he is unable to break through or inflict any real damage.

The group makes their first attempt to breach the corridor wall.

Dromichaetes says:
"20cm thick - with a void behind that section. Melta cutting will be most efficient here."

Lorg says"
"That's it. I can't take it anymore, die wall!"

Lorg fails to overcome the hardness of the wall.

Marine close combat weapons will make the job very easy.

Dromichaetes and Dagon notice the unpainted section of corridor wall suggesting a sealed entrance.

Dromichaetes says:
"A more recent construction. Long after this structure was built. There may be a useful shortcut or resource behind it."

"Any efficient means of breaking this barrier would be useful. Brute force is in the form of a shoulder charge is a reasonable default."

Lorg says:
"Hmm your right. Does anyone have any cutting equipment. I'd rather do this quietly"

Dagon says:
"I can use my combi melta but depending on the nature of the other side that might not be a good idea. If we strike at the join using our combat knives to make enough of a gap for us to pull it down? If our technical skills are insufficient."

Dromichaetes says:
"A promising first tactic, Dagon. Let us try that."

Dromichaetes does not find any weak points. He is able to confirm the corridor wall is up to 20cm thick and there is a void behind the unpainted section.

Awareness with the augur array would have given you the same result.

The rest of the group follow Dagon into the airlock.

Dromichaetes says:
"Come. We have spent long enough staring at the outside of this airlock. I have a notion to hack down a lying trader."

Lorg says:
"Let us continue. I can make a new minion from that fools skull."

Dagon triggers the cycle and after 8 minutes the door opens to the other side and the group can continue on.

You journey through the leaking deck is uneventful.

Awareness -30:
You spot a section of wall, that's unpainted and looks to be of more recent construction that the surrounding corridor. Suggesting a section was sealed in the distant past when this ship was in use.

If no one passes this Awareness check it you'll arrive at the entrance barracks in short order.

Dagon steps into the airlock. He finds nothing of note. He will have to close the airlock behind him before he can cycle the airlock and open the door to the other side.

The rest of the group stands idle.

Dromichaetes opens the airlock.

Dromichaetes says
"The airlock appears normal. I imagine that any treachery is either incredibly well concealed - or simply not via the airlock door itself. I am opening it now."

The airlock takes 8 minutes to cycle before the door opens. The space inside is large enough to fit the group comfortably.

The group assesses the airlock.

First Dagon walks forward while Lorg has a domestic with his servo skull. Dagon is unable to access the control module beyond basic functionality.

Dagon says:
"This infernal machinery was repaired by a madman, I can't see reason to it. We are quite far into the ship now and this construction is new. We could try and force our way through."

Next Lorg walks forward having left the last word to his servo skull. He is able pull the diagnostic logs from the airlock's control module.

Lorg says:
"This door was installed a week ago, we should open it carefully to avoid explosive decompression and proceed"

40 minutes has passed when an impatient Dromichaetes walks forward demanding compliance. He invades the control module with a tendril from his wrist MIU. He is able to pull the diagnostic logs from the control module after a short 5 minutes.

Dromichaetes says:
"I seek control, and any maps available."

None of you find anything that would prevent you operating the airlock normally and passing through.

Lorg's servo skull takes his master's feedback under advisement.

"You have my thanks master. We will take your feedback under advisement. If you require further assistance let us know. We are always happy to help."

Lorg's servo skull responds in Low Gothic with a little contempt.

"My apologies master but I haven't found anything. Please forgive my abilities for I am only as good as my maker could make me."

Possible rolls.

Tech Use +20 & 20 minutes time:

You are able to pull diagnostic logs out of the airlock's control module.

It was installed less than a week ago.

The atmosphere beyond seems to be leaking out of the ship at a steady rate.

It's not a vacuum but it's not ideal without protection.

Navigate(Surface):

This is a bit far into the ship.

After negotiating your way forward for a time you find the corridor ahead blocked. You're standing in front of an airlock spanning the corridor. It looks to have been recently installed with clean weld lines left unpainted.

You don't recall this being mentioned in the directions given to you by Signaller Jobe.

The airlock is powered and continually reminds you of it's presence.

""beep ... beep ... beep"

Everyone gets 600xp, 1 CP success and 2 Infamy.
The summary post will hopefully be up this week.
People should also pick up the ammo that's left scattered around on the ground.
I'm going to be assuming everyone is up on the catwalk ready to move once the summary is up.

Lorg gets a response.

"This is signaller Jobe again, if you leave the cargo bay the way we left and continue on you'll walk right into the upper section of the ships barracks. There is a vented lighter bay beneath it. The enginerium is sign posted from there. Ping me if you need directions. Goodluck my lords."

Dromichaetes cannot recall anything about the dynasty, he's sure he's never heard of them.

Lorg click here:

"Oh would that it were a little problem. I believe we should meet to discuss an arrangement. Can you make your way to the reactor control room?"

His tone is a little sarcastic.

Lorg click here:

"You have my sincere apologizes for the delay. The natives are a little violent and need tending too.

So I think we both have a common problem. Are you familiar with the nuance surrounding genestealer cults?"

Lorg click here:

You get a response on the vox.

"This is Lord Anisan, Master of Arms on the Last cry of the Dammed. Thank you for your assistance. Question my lord have you ever heard the old proverb the enemy of my enemy is my friend?"

The man points at the great doors of the shuttle bay.

"We came through there my lord, I don't get it there was hundreds of men here yesterday." He babbles out.

"Even some of the command were on board. How does this happen? My lord."

The mans mind is starting to break.

The salvage team try to response to Dromichaetes but starting to become a babbling mess at the sign of the altar of skulls.

You can roll charm or intimidate to avoid them going into shock.

Dagon climbs the wall with ease with a minute (check not required).

Lorg gets a response.

"I find that highly unlikely my lord, my commander will address you in a moment. Our prey is just being a little enthusiastic about living. Thank you for your patience."

You can hear the sound of a chain weapon cutting through flesh but the general sounds of combat have died off.

Lorg gets another response.

"Sorry my lord, my commander is currently hunting, he will be with you in a moment. Thank you for your patience."

In the background he can hear the sounds of combat.

Lorg gets a response after he reaches out on the frequency using his vox-caster.

"This is signaller Jobe, a moment my lord I'm putting my commander on the line. Thank you for your patience."

From the test you know they are somewhere in the general direction of where they left the shuttle bay from.

Lorg & Dromichaetes click here:

The range of this pattern of micro bead is severely hampered within the metallic structure of the star ship.

The device has basic encryption but nothing advanced.

There is nothing to track without a continuous signal and you would need to use a more advanced vox system.

You will find the plasma guns to be operating as desired.

The members of the salvage team will pipe up.

"Sirs, is the way clear?"

Dromichaetes receives no response.

Dromichaetes receives no response.

He hears nothing but static but he notes the preset frequency.

Dromichaetes will find a microbead wrapped in a torn shirt.
