Khonnir looks quite surprised at the news of a power relay in town. Surprised and more lively than before.

"Oh? I must admit, I never would have imagined something like that would turn up in town--"

He wrinkles his nose, and sniffs the air. "Er... what's that coppery smell?"

GM Rolls:
Knowledge (Engineering): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25

Khonnir listens to his daughter's explanation, his expression turning pensive. "This is troubling news indeed... but I do believe I know the piece of technology you speak of."

"You'll need an insulated connector to bridge the two wires you need together--especially if the wires are live. If we had the time, I'd make one myself, but as it stands..." He looks down at his legs and grimaces. "...no pun intended--I can't yet walk."

"I do know of someone in town that deals in technology--his name is Sanvil Trett. He has a stall in the Torch marketplace--perhaps he'll be of help."

Khonnir's room is sparsely decorated, but clean. The man is sitting up in his cot, eating a bowl of rice and being careful not to spill a single grain. He looks up when Sarona leads the group to him, his eyes brightening when he sees Sialea.

He swallows his rice. "My little girl. And her friends."

Sialea

Khonnir's grip relaxes on you and Val, and he lies back on his cot. He looks down at his motionless legs, his expression trying to remain even and calm.

Val turns to you and takes a breath. "Your egg's doing alright. The heat lamp and some blankets are keeping it warm."

Val, without a word, comes up next to Sia and looks upon her father with a mixture of shock, fear, and relief. Her body is trembling, her eyes watering with unshed tears. She blinks several times, wiping her eyes with the back of a dirty hand. "Dad?"

Khonnir takes hold of Sia's hand and, with some effort, sits up on the cot. His eyes fall on Val, and he reaches out a hand for her as well. He pulls the two girls into a hug, his shoulders shaking as tears start falling from his eyes.

Val starts quietly sobbing against his shoulder.

Khonnir doesn't resist as Edynn scoops him out of his torture pod and starts clinging to her back, his hands visibly trembling.

Sialea's Mind:
There's a pause as you send your thoughts his way.

Then an affirmative. An image of the temple crosses your mind, followed by an image of him clinging to Edynn's back as she swims through the Weeping Pond. His legs aren't moving, his eyes shut tight and his breath held tightly in his chest against the fouled waters.

There's nothing in his thoughts that suggests he knows of another way out. Only memories of pacifying the skulk village, passing through the first sterilization chamber into the dome, and a jumble of fuzzy memories, all with an undercurrent of panic.

Khonnir's eyes widen and he grunts in supposed agreement.

Sialea's Mind:
You see images of the Temple of Brigh, and feel a desperate need to get there. Khonnir appears to be quite intent on leaving this place as soon as possible.

Celen's healing magic does wonders for the party's wounds, closing them smoothly.

Some colour returns to Khonnir's face as the healing takes place, and he gobbles down the rations Celen offers him with gusto. He doesn't seem surprised by the giant android in the room with them.

Khonnir nods his head at Sialea twice. He holds his arms out, gesturing for someone to help him up, or carry him.

Inlé's Perception Roll:
Your search of the room doesn't yield anything useful--the tech in here is either low enough that they wouldn't make a difference, or outright malfunctioning. Some of the beds in here have multiple mechanical limbs with sharp tools attached to them--odds are, they'll be as trustworthy as the robots you just scrapped.

Khonnir grabs the waterskin Sia offers and starts drinking desperately from it, spilling some on his robes.

He grunts again in response to her question...

Sialea's Mind:
Though he cannot speak, you can see the images in your mind's eye clearly enough.

An ambush by skeletal, four-armed beasts. Escaping them, only to blunder into this gods-forsaken place.

A pale, spider-like robot ambushing him as a gold-plated robot lays into his comrades. Fluid being forced into his veins.

Awakening in the pod you found him in. Needles. Needles. Driving into his head. Pain. Pain. Pain.

Needles driving into his legs. Pain. Pain pain pain agony. Then numbness. They cannot be moved.

Pain in his head. Something--some kind of machines so small even a fly would dwarf it--roiling through his head. Eating away at everything. Magic. Memories. Memories of you and Val.

Despair.

There's a *beep-beep-beeping* noise as the machine reads the card, and a little *chirp* as the card is ejected from the slot.

The lights on the pod blink for several moments before the pod's doors slide open. Lying against the interior of the pod is a man in once-fine wizard robes, his long black hair beginning to grey at the temples. His blue cloak is frayed at the hem, and his trousers are filthy and tattered, revealing trembling red legs beneath. His palms shake as the doors open, and when he sees who's come to rescue him, his terrified expression relaxes slightly.

He opens his mouth and gestures to Sialea, and unintelligible grunts of relief come from his mouth in a torrent.
