Prank War Map

The students and fey are happy to talk about their work. Cass declares with pride that she is glad how the party encouraged her, else she would have been completely taken off guard as the battle happened. "I might not be trained in pie-throwing, but the element of surprise allowed me to catch many off guard!"

J listens to Kit and considers it a moment before stating, "the school will be let out after this event, so there isn't an immediate rush. We should tend to that. I'll stand by my promise though that the students will take care of the rest of the clean up."

I've just sent out chronicle sheets. Let me know if there needs to be any corrections.

Once again thank you all again for letting me run for you. It was my pleasure.

Prank War Map

You can redirect healing pretty easily.

"There be a bit of give and take with pranks especially with the spontaneous decision to be here. Many others would have treated this war like Numblekin did. The caravan is delighted with this event, no small part to your efforts." Nodding to J he notes, "I would like to discuss with you about if you plan to repeat this event. If that is the case we may be curious to a proper invitation and planning to going according to that."

J is open to that idea and beings working out arrangements with Pappy for the next year. Some of the students can be seen conspiring with fey for pranks they might accomplish for the next year.

Assuming the party's decision stands, Duaro is able to claim the medal for themselves and the students who worked on the project. Students and fey alike congratulate Duaro for their planning, especially noting their exceptional mirror placement and working in plant-life into the maze. The other students also get attention as the work students put into their pranks are given their due.

At the end of the day the event has gone swimmingly. A call from the kitchen to the party notes there is plenty of pies left.

Thank you all for playing. It was great to be able to run for all of you!

If people want to make checks for their downtime they may do so!

Prank War Map

And Shayna's expertly guided spell ends the conflict.

Things settle down quite quickly as students are gathered outside by teachers. J checks to make sure your group is well.

Pappy also joins, offering a tip of his hat to the group. "I'm glad to see you all and well. I wish I could have punished Numblekin myself, but you did good for yourselves and the wee ones."

Turning to J, he gives another bow, "I see those spirits have found a home here. I'm glad for it, I think they do much better with a house to tend."

J responds, "we are glad to have them. Despite the unexpected nature of this and, some overly aggressive pranks, this has been a good learning experience for the students."

"Aye. Glad this the caravan headed this way, but wondering if this could have gone a might worse. I've seen and heard bits from others you did working things. I like to know how you got to thinking to working things out the way you did. Not just with Numblekin, but the spirits, sprites, and well lit firestarter."

The group can make a Diplomacy check to Make an Impression with Pappy.

Despite his speed, the wounds slow his reaction as he tries to pivot away from Jinglemane. The delay is enough for Jinglemane being able to strike a mortal blow because of those cold iron teeth.

Numblekin is down only leaving the Jinkin

Shayna, Aella, Kit, and Doven can act.

Prank War Map

Numblekin grins jagged teeth at Doven as he seems to dodge the flail, but with a motion the flail comes about and scores a devastating hit on the fey.

He is left cursing as he stomps his boots in fury and cracking the wooden floor boards under his boots. Rivulets trickle down from his blood-soaked cap, a mixture of his own as well as the creatures he has harmed. He recovers some vitality as someone recovers from Doven's blow.

"You think you know pranks better than Numblekin? That you can hit harder than Numblekin? Heal faster than Numblekin?"

Scythe Attack at Jinglemane: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (2) + 15 = 17
Slashing Damage: 1d10 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12

He swings his scythe at Jinglemane, but it misses and hacks away at a bit of the door frame.

Scythe Attack at Doven: 1d20 + 15 - 5 ⇒ (1) + 15 - 5 = 11
Slashing Damage: 1d10 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14

Pulling back he swings it at Doven, but he loses his balance and the powerful swing catches only air. He struggles a moment before he makes distance, running to the other side of the stage. His breath heavy as he struggles to recover.

Jinkin Deception vs Aella Perception DC: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

Jinkin Sword Attack vs Aella: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
Piercing Damage: 1d6 - 2 ⇒ (4) - 2 = 2

On the other side of the stage, the small fey cackles tries, and fails, to trick Aella with swordplay and then misses the blow.

Jinkin [Green]

Everyone is up!

Prank War Map

Jinglemane's esoteric lore wasn't able to get that information on that action. He is fairly certain though it isn't regeneration as the other, similar, fey hasn't gotten up after Jinglemane's bite. Meanwhile, Numblekin vitality is recovering, even after Jinglemane's blow.

Anyone can try to Recall Knowledge (with Nature, Esoteric Lore or a ) to learn more about Numblekin's healing.

DC 20 Nature or Esoteric Lore:
Numblekin's healing, and strength, is connected to his blood soaked cap. Removing or destroying the cap would stop it, although removing the hat would be as difficult as removing any piece of equipment from someone.

Kit and Jinglemane's blows are just short of dealing out critical hits to Numblekin. They strikes are taking a toll though as they rapidly outpace his ability to recover. Despite the blow Jinglemane deals being greater, Numblekin sneers more as Kit focuses her holy symbol on him.

Numblekin Fortitude vs Frostbite: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30

Unfortunately he stands firm against the cold. "Numblekin can weather any weather you throw whether you like it or not!"

The battering of missiles quiets him as he suffers the strikes.

Doven can act.

Prank War Map

Jinglemane bite tears at Daglin and ends his attack. He slumps over as the cold iron digs into him.

While Daglin's body bleeds on the ground, Numblekin's body heals very quickly as it nearly mends the damage taken from Doven and Shayna. "Daglin never could keep his eyes on the prize."

Numblekin vs Doven: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (18) + 15 = 33 Barely a critical hit.
Slashing Damage: 1d10 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Deadly Damage: 1d10 ⇒ 8
30 damage in total. 25 if you want to shield block.

Numblekin vs Doven: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
Slashing Damage: 1d10 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
Deadly Damage: 1d10 ⇒ 5

Sweeping his scythe into Doven deals a devastating blow. Numblekin attempts to make a swing to bring down Doven, but the finishing blow fails to connect. "Numblekin is not going to sit about and let myself be finished off. You all will be torn bit by bit until I have my prize!" He runs off behind the curtain around the crates and curtain as he readies for his next attack.

Jinkin Shortsword Attack vs Aella: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
Piercing Damage: 1d6 - 2 ⇒ (5) - 2 = 3

The jinkin rushes into the melee with the cackling glee. His blade strikes Aella before he scampers off after his successful strike.

The evacuation proceeds as J directs students to the door. Many of the fey follow, not wanting to get pulled into this combat.

Courageous Anthem: +1 attack and damage. Ends start of round 4.

Doven nearly deals a critical hit on Numblekin. Numblekin is just able to guard against the devastating blow, even though it still deals some damage.

Kit has trouble pulling Daglin down. The whip pulls at the whip and he tries to pull Kit down. Kit is able to keep up thankfully and her spiritual whip lashes at the iron booted fey.

Jinglemane Exploit Vulnerability

Numblekin or Daglin DC 20:
These two have a weakness to cold iron 5.

If Critical Success

Spoiler:
These creatures have a revulsion for religious symbols.
If someone takes an Interact action to brandish a holy symbol, they will need to make a will save to avoid being frightened. Regardless of their success, they will be immune to this action for 10 minutes.

Jinkin DC 15:
This creature has a weakness to cold iron 2.

If Critical Success

Spoiler:
None

Prank War Map

No problem about the delay. Hopefully that you are all good now!
I could be wrong, but it looks like the burst is not on an intersection and I think can only hit one of the jinkins.

Numblekin Fortitude vs Sound Burst: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20 Success
Jinkin White Fortitude vs Sound Burst: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 Failure

Numblekin is rocked by the sudden burst of noise and is barely able to hold firm. The jinkin however is unprepared as it was ready to deal out pain, not bolstered against magic. It falls to the ground dead before it can inflict more pain itself.

"Numblekin got to put on his prank, but I barely got to anything! I think it is time Daglin left his mark!" The other fey stomps forward and kicks at Aella hard with his boots as he run past toward Shayna.

Boot Attack vs Aella: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20
Piercing Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

The spiked boot lands and leaves a minor injury. He then swings his scythe at Shayna declaring, "I should have had dealt first blood! No one remembers second blood!"

Scythe Attack vs Shayna: 1d20 + 13 - 5 ⇒ (16) + 13 - 5 = 24
Slashing Damage: 1d10 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13 8 damage after Doven's liberating step. Shayna may Step as a free action.

He cackles a bit as he scores a hit against Shayna. "Faster than Numblekin I am!"

Kit, Jinglemane, and Doven are able to act.

Prank War Map

You did need to move to target without concealment.

Numblekin Reflex vs Heat Metal: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 29

Numblekin is quick to notice his shoe begin to heat up and moves quickly to ward himself against the magic. "Yes! And it is a shame you won't get to see my magnificent work!"

Prank War Map

A hero point to Jinglemane for the prompt action that helped ensure Student #19 was brought down quickly.

As you announce the winner, the audience cheers and applauds. Duaro gives a wave and they have a smile on their face as they head to the stage with those that assisted.

Before they get to the stage though, the sound of ripping tears through the curtains behind you.

From behind the backstage curtain a long sharp blade has emerged and slices a long gash.

A gravely, hate filled voice cuts through the air as the blade slices the fabric. "What a waste, to give so high an award to such a lowly prank!"

"Did you not see the blood Numblekin spilt? Or hear the fear in the screams we caused?"

"You didn't even fine the possum I slew! I left you the dead possum body because I thought you'd laugh, but you. Didn't. Even. Notice!"

From the shadowy wings of the stage, manic giggles expressing something much darker than mirth ripple from flitting shapes and smaller blades eviscerate the curtain, slicing it to ribbons.

A small, wizened old man with a long beard peeks through the sliced curtain, his dark red hat glistening wetly. "Fine then, one last prank from Numblekin and his merry band of miscreants—we're going to steal the medal! Stop us if you can!"

There are a small array of fey with scythes and blades. Two are tiny, one of the kind you fought in the library. Numblekin and another are geared with scythes and wear blood red hats and are clad with heavy iron boots that stomp the floor. Numblekin is the largest of the floor and his blade is stained with blood still.

J is acting to make sure the students are safe, directing them out the exits. Numblekin and his cohorts focus entirely on you.

Initiative:

Kit's Initiative Using Detect Magic: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18

Shayna
Aella
Daglin (Blue)
Kit
Jinglemane
Doven
Numblekin (Red)
Jinkins (White) (Green)

Shayna and Aella can act.

The curtain is ripped to shreds and does nothing to bar movement. The curtain still does inhibit vision though so creatures on the opposite side of the curtain from you are concealed.

Prank War Map

Aella likely can maintain some control over the opossums, once in a more manageable size. It would be at least enough to control them to get them to safety before your announcement of the winners.

The party are soon standing in front of a gathering of teachers, fey and students. Attention is called and attention is given to the party as J directs all pay attention to your party so that the announcement of the winners may be heard and celebrated.

Prank War Map

After a bit of jostling from the door, the headmaster pops out of the cabinet. She looks disheveled as even her halfling stature didn't suffer well in the confines of the laboratory desk. "Thank goodness you came! This entire day was a bit of a shock. I thought I would need to just defend myself against the unruly students, but then those giant creatures chased me through the halls!"

She is entirely fine thankfully, and the opossums soon shrink to their typical size. The chimes signal the end of the hour and the event. Outside in the halls there is the sounds of laughter as fey and the students congregate together.

J looks at the group and stands on top a chair to get everyone's attention. He calls out to everyone, fey and student alike, "thank you for celebrating this event. I would ask that all cross the street to the assembly hall so that winners may be properly announced."

The students cheer as teachers attempt to start wrangling the groups over.

Talking to your group J says, "I'll leave it to you all to decide the winner. However you have already make sure this unexpected event was handled with grace. Take a some time to get cleaned up, it will certain take a bit to get everyone over."

You have 10 minutes to recover as the assembly is gathered.

Prank War Map

A lash of the whip seems to bring the creature down again. A few more long moments and inspections make it seem as both of the opossums are down for the count.

The voice from the cabinet says, "is it safe out there? Are they gone?"

Prank War Map

You are right that I do need Doven and Aella still on the sign up sheet. We are a just a bit from the ending, so I'll need that in the next few days.

I have also dealt with that mysterious 17 in the initiative and opened up the rest of the round.

Prank War Map

Shayna, Kit's not is accurate. It appeared to be knocked out, but seems to have been feigning death after taking that last blow from Shayna.

You can spend an action to Seek (Perception) or Recall Knowledge (Medicine) to determine if the other opossum is faking as well.

Seek or Recall Knowledge, Perception or Medicine DC 16:
The other opossum is completely knocked out.

The opossum staggers as Doven hits. It can barely remain standing!

From inside the cabinet the woman's voice calls out, "Hello? Help! Don't let the opossums get me!"

Round 5
Shayna (frightened 1)
Doven (13 damage; wounded 1)
Kit
Aella (frightened 1)
Round 6
Jinglemane (7 damage)
Opossums
. Blue (23 damage)

Kit, Aella, and and Jinglemane can act!

Prank War Map

Kit removes the frightened condition at end of turn because of critical success.

Kit is able to move into position, but as she push past the unconscious opossum it bites at her leg as it seems to have been feigning death!

Opossum Will vs Fear: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Opossum Jaws vs Kit, Frightened 1, Prone: 1d20 + 8 - 1 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 8 - 1 - 2 = 17 Hits off-guard, frightened AC.
Piercing: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 Reduced to 0 by liberating step.

With Doven just healed before this, he is able to offer a liberating step to allow Kit to avoid most of the blow.

Jinglemane is able to focus on the scarecrow and it maintains a fearsome grin even as Jinglemane tears it apart. The illusions fade away as the cloth, straw, and sticks fall to the laboratory floor.

No more saving throws vs the fear are necessary and frightened can again go away at end of turn.

The opossum, still frightened by the scarecrow and furious with the party, flips itself up and, after making chase, snaps at Kit.

Opossum Jaws vs Kit, Frightened 1: 1d20 + 8 - 1 ⇒ (1) + 8 - 1 = 8
Piercing: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

Round 4
Kit

Round 5
Jinglemane (7 damage)
Opossums
. Blue (18 damage)
Shayna (frightened 1)
Doven (21 damage; frightened 1, wounded 1, prone)
Ghostly Scarecrow of Student #19 (91 damage, destroyed)
17

Doven and Shayna can act.

Prank War Map

Shayna, correct. Your DC is 18 because of the frightened condition. You don't need a flat check to perform the actions though.

The scarecrow is just sturdy enough to hold up and remaining standing against Doven's sweeping flail.

Scarecrow Reflex: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11

It's secure placement on the ground works against it as Shayna's electric arc connects straight into it.

Scarecrow vs Doven: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (17) + 15 = 32 Critical hit vs frightened 1 shielded AC
Bludgeoning Damage plus mental: 2d6 + 9 + 1d6 ⇒ (6, 4) + 9 + (5) = 24 48 damage

Taking that bit of fear the construct has placed, it deals out a critical hit that is just able to bring down Doven even with his shield.

Scarecrow vs Jinglemane: 1d20 + 15 - 5 ⇒ (19) + 15 - 5 = 29
Slashing Damage: 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (4, 5) + 9 = 18

Scarecrow vs Jinglemane: 1d20 + 15 - 10 ⇒ (18) + 15 - 10 = 23
Bludgeoning Damage plus mental: 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (3, 1) + 9 = 13

With one fallen, the rips and tears in the scarecrow's body are made obvious as it turns around toward Jinglemane. Bits of the stuffing pour out as it is just short of dealing out another devastating blow. Even still the strikes deal a significant amount of damage to Jinglemane.

I believe Courageous Anthem just expired.

Everyone needs to make another Will saving throw (DC 20) against the fear with same results as before.

Round 4
Kit (frightened 1)
Aella (frightened 1)
Round 5
Jinglemane (31 damage, immune to Student #19 fear)
Shayna (frightened 1)
Doven (54 damage; frightened 1, dying 2)
Ghostly Scarecrow of Student #19 (51 damage)

Doven is downed. Everyone can act.

Prank War Map

For Shayna I do want confirm, fascinated in this case doesn't mean unable to act, but that anything you do that requires concentration must include the thing you are fascinated by.

Reflex vs Electric Arc: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29

The replicate of Student #19 moves quickly as the electric power arcs and is able to keep just out and dodge the blast of lightning.

Aella uses Crafting to Identify
Aella is able to identify this creation as a ghostly scarecrow, a mindless construct that follows the most basic of instructions to drive fear in the the minds of others and use that fear to drag out even more pain with every swipe of the claws.

Does Aella have an action left?

Courageous Anthem: +1 to attack and damage.
Round 2
Kit (frightened 1)
Doven (6 damage; Will Save vs Fear)
Aella (frightened 2, fascinated)
Round 3
Jinglemane (immune to Student #19 fear)

Ghostly Scarecrow of Student #19 (37 damage)

Prank War Map

No problem. That part applies to everyone regardless of success or failure.

Prank War Map

Jinglemane can tell tell by the appearance of this creature that it doesn't live. Let me know if you intended the attack to be lethal, or would have with that in mind, and I'll adjust the tracker to account for that.

Jinglemane Will save vs Fear: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 8 + 1 = 25 Success becomes critical success per Jinglemane's abilities
Jinglemane is not affected by the glare and is now immune.

As Jinglemane approaches the student project, there is a unnerving glow coming from within the construct's eyes that stare unerringly through Jinglemane. That fear does not affect Jinglemane though.

Even with that, Jinglemane's attack is able to connect by a small margin. However the softened blow is dulled against the straw within the student's body. The non-lethal blow has no effect on the creature. It doesn't even revel avoiding damage as it sweeps with a claw at Jinglemane.

Claw vs Jinglemane: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (3) + 15 = 18
Slashing: 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (2, 3) + 9 = 14

The attack swings forward and just barely misses as it the cutting blow resonates with the planted fear within Jinglemane. Failing to push past Jinglemane, the construct smashes open the other window with single minded focus and crawls through. Covered in glass, the creation approaches Doven as its gaze covers the room.

Everyone who starts within 40 feet of the Student #19 construct or comes in that area, and can see the gaze, will need to make a DC 20 Will save (reminder that courageous anthem will give a +1 status bonus on the save) with the following effects:
Critical Success: You are unaffected and immune for the encounter.
Success: You are frightened 1.
Failure: You are frightened 2 and fascinated by Student #19 until the end of your turn.
Critical Failure: You are frightened 3 and fascinated by Student #19 until the end of your turn.
In addition, if you end your turn within this area, your frightened condition cannot go below 1.

Courageous Anthem: +1 to attack and damage.

The beaker flies at the opossum and causes it to slump over unconscious. With it down, the only threat left is Student #19 as it is pulling itself through the shattered window.

Information for Jinglemane Exploit Vulnerability on Student #19

Exploit Vulnerability DC 19:

From the construction of this animate construct, you know it has a weakness to fire 5.

If Critical Success

Spoiler:
Animated but without a mind or flesh, this has a wide array of immunities including: bleed, death effects, disease, doomed,
drained, fatigued, healing, mental, necromancy, nonlethal
attacks, paralyzed, poison, sickened, unconscious.

It is also resistant to physical attacks, except slashing, for 5.

Furious from being struck, the other gigantic opossum rears back and gnashes it's teeth at Doven

Bite vs Doven: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Piercing Damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Bite vs Doven: 1d20 + 8 - 5 ⇒ (2) + 8 - 5 = 5
Piercing Damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Claw vs Doven: 1d20 + 8 - 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 - 8 = 20 Natural 20 upgrade to normal hit.
Piercing Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

The teeth fail to connect, but a lucky swipe of the claw manages to do more than any of the creature's teeth have managed against Doven's armor.

As the party readies themselves to incapacitate the other opossum, Jinglemane and Shayna notice a malevolent entity at the window. It looks like a spectral creature at first glance, but you recognize it as the scarecrow the students had made of Student #19. It is fully animate though and the teeth move and draw open as it smashes the window open.

The opossum freezes in place in response to Aella's magic. That moment is pause is just enough for Jinglemane to critically bonk the creature's nose and knocking it out completely.

Jinglemane's knowledge was able to find that these opossum's have no weakness, but are naturally resistant to poison and disease.

Thankfully the laboratory and the significant amount of alchemical equipment seems to have gone untouched by the Prank War.

However it isn't without any threats. There are a pair of opossums that have grown to incredible sizes. They currently whip around the room, furious and exhausted. They batter a workbench cabinet near the eastern windows.

From within the cabinet a woman's voice calls out for help. The opossums turn their aggression toward the party as they notice you at the door.

The opossums, despite their giant size and fierce demeanor, are tired and slow to react to the party. However most of the party notices something that lingers outside the western window. A clawed hand scratches against the window before vanishing behind the wall just out of site.

Everyone can act.

Prank War Map

"She should be still on campus, but I think she was hiding away from the prank war even when it was just the children involved. With the chaos in the halls, it is even harder to search."

"With the newly armed students,"[b] J states as the body arms itself with pies, [b]"we should be able to make some headway. Keep alert. If anyone spots the headmaster, we will let you know so you can get to them."

With a plan in place J leads the students in the hallway in a counter-offensive. The students throw regenerating pies as the fey fall back. Some with confused laughter as they get pelted with pastries.

Once they push back to the annex hallway, J calls out to the group. "There was a giant opossum that just walked into the laboratory. Could you investigate while I keep minding the students?"

Prank War Map

One of the students happily mentions, "I think they are making Teacher Grenda was making pies!"

The teacher is glad for the assistance and it thankfully is a safe and short journey through the fey filled halls.

Within the lunchroom, tables have been moved to form a fort of sorts and Jay calls out orders to the students recalling to his days as an Eagle Knight. He gives a smiles as he sees you enter with the students. He quickly gives them directions to go to the back and help. There are lines of pies and the house spirits move about the room as they weave magic throughout the food stuff.

Turning to you Jay gives a smile as he says, "thank you for your help as well as your suggestions. I've spoken to the house spirits more and they thought more about your suggestions. They are willing to aid us with letting them live at the school."

"With those returned, all are accounted for aside Headmaster Rosedell. Wit the students well I think though we might be able to help resolve that and retake the school with an appropriate counter offensive of sorts. Appropriate for Prank War at least." He gestures to the lines of pies. "It was amusing and more enjoyable without an incessant barrage."

Prank War Map

As the party heads to teacher, they react with some shock as they swing a broom to block before calming down upon seeing you. "Pathfinders! Thank goodness. I was looking anyone that might have gotten locked away in any of the rooms. There is a bit of a path cut through here, but no one here now." They gesture to a trio of young, nearby students as they ask, "would you mind helping get us back to the lunchroom? Jay is set up a line of defense there against the pranks."

Prank War Map

Successes. No hero points spent.

"Oh! Ok!" They fay begin to gather as Jinglemane and Shayna talk to them. "We know that fires are bad, but we thought the flying animals would be fine since they lived here already."

Another pipes up, "but those are great prank ideas!" They look over their remaining scrolls and note, "these scrolls won't quite help with those. We got them for other pranks, but you should take them since we have all new ideas now! We won't be able to use them for all of that. We have to start on them quick if we want them to finish them before time is up!"

The sprites thank you for the guidance an offer the group two 1st level scrolls of heal.

One of the sprites asks if they could help by returning the opossums back to their room.

At the entry to the teacher's lounge, a teacher wearing a bucket as a makeshift helmet. They keep several students close as a tiny dragon flies through the halls with flying fey in close pursuit.

Prank War Map

I will also be at a local convention this weekend. I will try to post but I might have trouble in the following days.

Prank War Map

The opossums scramble to for the treats, but flail more as they try to reach for them.

Faced with the resolve from Doven the last of the sprites stammers out, "well, I though they would learn to laugh to. It was all in good fun." They lower the remaining opossums which gladly go snacking away the bits of dried apple before finding a place of safety.

The hallway a bit secured, although the sprites are a bit dejected about the reaction, but offer apologies to the party and the opossums.

There is a lull in the prank war allowing the party a chance to talk with the sprites before continuing forward toward the teacher's lounge.

10 minute rest. If someone wants to Make an Impression, the group can make one Diplomacy check with the sprites as they offer their apologies for making the opossums scared. Other characters can aid.

Rewarding Doven with a Hero Point for protecting the party several times and standing firm against the sprites and flying opossums.

Prank War Map

It is two actions for any of the activities to speak with the fey or calm the opossums.

In response to Kit the sprite nods and tries to encourage one of the opossums, "oh you don't want to be let down just yet, right?" The flailing and gnashing of teeth make the response clear as the fey gives a bit of dejected admission, "maybe you're right. Enough practice for today."

While the mass of opossums is now far more manageable, the last of the sprites does their best to shrug off Shayna's concerns. "But it is funny! You all have the funniest looks on your faces. And fuzzy ones are doing fine with some flying around! We aren't sending them anywhere dangerous!" They express this with a jubilant glee as they use magic to hold the opossums aloft.

Another of the sprites lowers an opossum to the ground with the direction of Kit and Jinglemane. The creature takes off but the fey offers a hopeful explanation, "well... if they aren't use to flying, shouldn't this be good practice?"

The other sprites are too involved in the game to see immediate reason, and don't take any note yet of Shayna's arguements, and send the opossums flying through the air at the party. With a cheerful candor, a sprite calls out, "surprise! while the claws of the creatures swing out.

Opossum Flyby vs Shayna: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23

Opossum Flyby vs Kit: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15
Piercing Damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

Their movement is fairly predictable and slow for the sprites to control. Only one manages to get close enough to scratch Shayna.

2 damage, assuming Doven uses his liberating step.

Prank War Map

The opossums are confused, but they snatch at the berries and devour them. That is enough to calm some of the opossums. While most of them are still flailing, a portion of the multitude are eating their treats.

One of the sprites backs down and attempts to mollify Doven's declaration. "But... but... they are having fun. They have those big teethy smiles!" The sprite unconvincingly gestures to one of of the flailing and gnashing opossums. The fey waves a scroll and several of the opossums descend and find a safe corner as soon as they hit the ground.

Doven
Aella
Jinglemane
Mostly Illusory Opossums

The crowd of opossums is lessened, but there are still a significant number in the air along with other sprites that didn't seem to notice Doven's glare in the chaos.

Kit, Shayna, and Jinglemane are up.

Prank War Map

The sprites are heartened by Kit's response, even beyond fun they clearly look at you with incredible favor. They state they will make sure the unruly fey is brought to Pappy. Given the level of exhaustion of the shining fey, it isn't any position to argue.

Doven is able to heal Aella, refocus, and heal himself before the party heads forward, but doesn't have time to refocus again.

GM Screen:

Jinglemane's Perception (E): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15 Darkvision
Aella's Perception (E): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24

The group is able to head into the hall and look toward the teacher's lounge. You see a teacher looking into the room while fending off a troop of satyrs playing raucous music behind them.

Before you can get down there, Aella is able to spot a spot a flying swarm of opossums. There are dozens of opossums and all their claws are flailing in the air as they bare their fangs in distress and confusion.

Among them a number giggling sprites fly among the creatures. The fey wield wands and scrolls and with waves of their arms the opossums fly through the halls. Aella sees them as the sprites break into laughter and giggles as they cry out surprise while one of the flailing creatures is sent flying toward the party.

Anyone can make an Arcana or Occultism check on the creatures.

DC 17 Arcana or Occultism:
You are able to determine that the opossums are under the effects of mirror image spells.

Lots of Opossums

Everyone can act!

The opossums are clearly hazardous as they come at you. Aside violent means of dispersal or removing the magic, actions can be taken to try to convince the sprites to stop (With Diplomacy, Deception, or Intimidate). Alternatively to calm or control the opossums could help this as well (With Nature or Athletics)

Prank War Map

You able to tend to the wounds of the tiny fey. The glowing fey sneers at Kit's suggestion of the ideal prank.
The sprites look at you with some confusion as you provide care, although they also seem relieved. "You were very calm! Especially given all the fire!"

"Yes! And all the slashing! Not even most of us would be so kind!" The other sprites adds with a swipe for emphasis. "Normally the people of the city are much more quick to anger. Even for for smaller things."

Prank War Map

Claw vs Doven: 1d20 + 14 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 14 - 4 = 13
Slashing Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 4) = 10

The fey livid as it sputters out curses. It manages to land a blow on Doven, but even that can't scratch through his shield.

It starts to back up, but the numerous hanging mirrors show various views of Jinglemane and Doven at all angles. They are still furious but so exhausted that even bumping into the mirrors is a drain on them. They collapse on the ground, unable to fight off judgement of the party.

It glares in the direction of Aella, their words still laced with venom but no longer holding any energy. "No prank worth remembering doesn't leave some scars."

Combat is over, the party can safely take 10 minutes to recover.

Prank War Map

Aella tends to the fallen fey and the sprites are surprised at the action. After a few careful looks they come to help and pull the fey out the way and from their fallen blade.

Even this beaten, the fey is very quick and able to keep ahead of Kit's lashes. However its breath is quick and it hast little chance for vitriolic retort.

At some point that space runs out and Doven lands a blow that nearly knocks it out.

Corrected the Persistent Damage from Tempest Surge.

Moved Doven to striking range. Kit was able to cast shield.

I would say that Jinglemane does required to follow Shayna's directions, especially since seek doesn't provide incorrect information on any failure. You can keep the action as is for if you rather for mirth or any other reason, but you can feel free to take that round of actions retroactively even going into the next round.

Mote of Light vs Aella: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 28 Hit against Aella's AC 19 (19 -2 off guard +2 cover)
Force Damage plus Precision: 2d4 + 2 + 2d6 ⇒ (3, 4) + 2 + (5, 1) = 15
Assuming Doven provides a Liberating Step to Aella and reduces that to 8 damage.

Aella needs to make a DC 22 Will save against the light

Aella DC 20 Will Save:
Success: unaffected and you are immunue to the glow.
Failure: You are illuminated in golden light and can't be concealed and invisibility is reduced to concealed.
Critical Failure: As failure, but you shine with bright light and are dazzled for one turn.

Aella takes cover just in time to protect against a blast of light that slams into the books. It still connects with her, but dramatically dulls the blow.

"You ruin everything," cries out the fey to Aella. "You put out the fire! You point out where I'm hiding! It's like you don't want me to have fun at all!"

"And you," the violently brilliant fey yells as it swings wildly at Doven. "Stop getting in my way!"

Claw vs Doven: 1d20 + 14 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 14 - 4 = 12
Slashing Damage: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (3, 2) + 2 = 7

Prank War Map

The hostile fey is invisible now. Anyone looking for the shining fey can locate it with a one-action Seek and making a DC 22 Perception check.

Prank War Map

I have added Courageous Anthem Bonus to Aella's spell and Doven's attack. I think it is already accounted for in Jinglemane's attack.

Doven lands a staggering blow that sends it back into the shelf as it sputters and gnashes.

Studying the creature, Jinglemane recognize the shining fey's weakness to cold iron and is able to use it as part of his attack. The strike is a devastating bite that tears into the furious fey.

The sprites at the door call out as they ask, "listen to them before more are hurt!" They seem to be the slightest bit heartened a bit by Doven's punch and only disappointed when it wasn't a knock out blow.

The shining fey is far more bloody, battered and scorched as it focuses on Jinglemane. It screams out, "hide away the children! Coddle them! Fire is supposed to be scary! Maybe burns will teach!"

Claw vs Jinglemane, Clumsy: 1d20 + 14 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 14 - 2 = 29
Slashing Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3

It nearly deals a tears a deeper cut into Jinglemane, but the lingering electricity causes the claw to jerk just enough to minimize the blow. Enough for Doven to ward off completely.

3 damage to Jinglemane, which Doven is able to prevent completely.

The shining fey seems even more insulted as it yells out, "you are even afraid of a little cut!"

It beings to fly up and away as it declares, "give me a moment and I'll show you something to be afraid of!"

As it flies off, its body merges with the light in the room until it vanishes completely once more, although movement from the mirrors makes it clear it is still in the room.

Shining Fey Will Save vs Fear: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (19) + 13 = 32

It flutters back a bit, not expecting the resistance at all. The magic fails to take hold though and it spits back, "what is a prank without a surprise!? You know nothing and yet I'm told you are the judges of pranks? Should get real judges who know what a proper prank is!"

Prank War Map

A precise shot from Shayna takes down the tiny fey before it can get another chance to strike.

The sprites at the door mourn but implore the shining fey stop this before anyone else is hurt. The fey ignores them as it gathers pulls at the light of the room into more projectiles.

"Cowardly?" A small, but bitter voice calls out.

A shining bit of light flies through air at Aella.

Mote of Light vs Aella Flat-Footed: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15
Force plus Precision Sneak Attack: 2d4 + 2 + 2d6 ⇒ (4, 3) + 2 + (6, 1) = 16

The flash of light misses Aella and just hits against the tile blasting away from the ground. The creature becomes visible as it seems to form from the reflected light in the room. It is a golden winged fey no more than three feet tall. The creature's entire body casts off an illumination that is painful to look at, its eyes glow like the midday sun and are twisted in fury.

In frustration, the creature yanks one of the books off the shelf and throws it in the smothered flames, almost in spite to cause enough pain to the dormant embers to reignite.

"You are the cowards, trying to hide what is natural! Couldn't you see the fun that was being had?"

The sprites plea for the shining fey to stop but it focuses on the party.
