little bump...

on a side note... is Pathfinder RPG any popular at all? These forums are almost dead compared to other D&D forums. Especially now that the design forums are closed.

Most topics about the Arcane bond ability (with object)were created during Alpha. At that time there was confusion about the 1/4 creation cost of the item and the enchanting part (could you enchant a ring before 12th level).

The design leader explicitly stated that you couldn't enchant the bonded item if the required feat required a higher level than your current.

In the beta version, possible loopholes with creating bonded items for 1/4 cost and then selling them have been removed. (they simply cannot be sold now).

But it's still unclear whether you need to be of a certain level to be able to enchant your ring or staff (or amulet even, but that's not really a problem since wondrous item is a 3rd lvl feat).

I am missing a line like

"A wizard can enchant his bonded object as if he had the required feats as long as the wizard meets the level restriction of the feat" or something.

Does this mean you really can simply enchant your bonded item regardless of level? And was it really necessary to remove the 1/2 cost bonus? I kinda liked that ;-)

Personally, I think a domain is a bit underpowered.

In exchange for my animal companion, I would prefer an ability enabling me to -let's say- spontaneously cast any spell from the druid spell list 3 times a day instead of only the SNA spells. There are so many neat utility spells in the druid spell lists and I never seem to be able to memorize it in the right time.

I would just love to be able to cast that particular spell which the party needed desperately instead of only seeing it on my spell list.

It's kinda like a sorcerer, but then only a restricted number per days. Or 1 spell per spell level (so at 7th level you would have 3 lvl 3 spell slots of which you could cast 1 spontaneously)

I wouldn't mind wild shape at will at all. The pathfinder version is nerfed in such a way it's mostly utility now. In order to be viable in combat you need to buff yourself by so many spells that combat is over by the time your AC and attack bonus reach high enough values to enter melee.

As a lvl 6 druid all I prefer flying around as a 60ft movement air elemental summoning critters and blasting enemies with lightning. The damage and utility I put out that way is vastly superior to any meager combat animal I could turn into. If you do choose to do so, you will be a pisspoor fighter who will die in notime.

*bump*

In my party I'm that druid that rolls 20 dice per turn. My party members didn't seem to mind that much but my solution was to let those party members that couldn't do much during their turns control the summoned critters or my animal companion. That way the dice were spread out around the party ;-)
