If my GM would do anything vs a Treant with a Balor, we would be laughing at him. He has DR 15 which the Treant can't overcome and he has AC 36 which he won't hit. So he just ignores it and goes against us^^
What do i have won from that other than more dead space the balor and everybody else can ignore since he can fly and what else :)

Summon Spells are actually pretty bad, since they can't hit anything and have so low health they die much to fast. Pitting a Treant against a Level 20 demon is just useless. So i abandoned all the Summon Stuff.
Dex Bonus is at +1 of course, that is easy to reach, even while large...

rest i will have a look at and i too find the fog stuff ridiculous good, therefore i am asking if i am overlooking something. Don't want my GM to be so mad at me, that is no longer funny :)

So, everyone in our party gets fogcutting lenses for 8k each that is a steal, an eversmoking bottle and we win 99% of the fights since they can't do anything against us? That sounds like really harsh or is there something i miss?

Ring of Foe Focus is great and cheap, will get that definitely. Barkskin is up, but i am level 11 so i am 1 short, but that is ok.
Demon Lords are bigger than me, so that is not an option and Fire and Acid Resistance items of course a must otherwise my regen will not work :)
Hmm, will have to look at the spell storing armor.

Oh i never knew about fog and fogcutting, True seeing doesn't help there, great idea...
complete immunity from spells, 50% miss chance against range attacks and 20% miss chance against close attacks. If i have reach as well as the other guy, is that 20% or 50% miss chance?

My saves are a bit harder to fix. I have a Cloak of resistance +5 and have wisdom good, dex and con not to great though. But will raise them as soon as i have the money. Protection from evil is permanent through wayfinder and ioun stone.

We are level 11. A bit more high power play. We are going up against some archdemons at the moment.
I will have regen 5 next level and i have DR 5/- from my armor. How else can i go about miss chances and other means of not taking damage?
Arch demons most often have permanent true sight and ignore a lot of DR. Debuffing and everything is not easy since they are 9 levels or so ahead of us. But our Shaman is trying that with his misfortune hex and some other debuff spells and i try to do the grappling and some other guy is trying tripping if that is what you mean.

Ioun stone, is noted down to buy next downtime :)

Thanks for your input.

Hello,

i am playing a Goliath Druid with Heavy Armor, Heavy Shield and i am thinking how to get a bit more Armor Class out of this.

At the moment i have a Fulplate+5, Hv Shield+5, Amulet NA+5, Ring of Prot +5, NA from Troll Shape +4 and i can't think of to much more else unless i really want to gimp my Attack even more (so no fighting defensively).

Is this maximum or is there more i could get on top of that? Any items or self buff spells i could apply, through staffs, wands, special items?

At the moment i get up to 41 AC.

Any input or thoughts would be welcomed.

Kind Regards

Frolo

Ok i stand corrected. Then it is shapeshifting to a dragon and do Bite, 2 Claws, 2 Wings, Tail and Gore attack with full BAB.

I am not sold on the Gore and Bite thing working together. Both is using the head and i don't see how you can heabutt somebody and at the same time bite him, but probably thats just me that finds biting rhinos stupid. And where do you get the Tail from. That is only if you are shapechanged into a dragon right?

Yes, but if he is using bite with weapon it is secondary and so only half strength ;)

Yeah, found out about the wings, but still 2 wings and 1 bite with half strength added are not really impressive and needs to much investment for my regards

Why do you gain a wing attack if you are in human form and you have no wings.
And with Multiattack you only get -2 for attack but only half the strength and power attack bonus. So from your +20 Strength Bonus you only keep 10 and from your power attack also only the half and that you hit with everything that is not really said since you really have a bad attack bonus... And of course you need the Amulett of Mighty Fists +5 and a +5 Sword otherwise you don't do anything against Damage Reduction which is normal at that level. Calculate your Attack Bonus and Compare against any Level 20 Monsters and you see what i mean :)

if you take a sword, you can take only one claw attack, 1 gore or 1 bite attack and no idea where you get the other attacks from. You need the free hands. If you want to use the sword two handed you make no claw attacks.

And level 20 with over 300 hp, hmm, d12 means 6.5 in median + Con Bonus of +5 so 11.5*20=230 and that is generous. No Favored Class Bonus and no nothing.

I think i don't understand it at all. You are Dragon Disciple and can become a Dragon where you get a Wings attack and all this, but then you can't use a weapon so you have no iterative attacks. Or you stay a "Human" then you can use a Sword but all your other attacks are secondary for half Damage. And i think you can't use a gore attack together with a bite attack since both are on your head.
Ok for Strength, you get 19 racial+5 from levels +6 from Belt+5 from tome+6 from dragon+4 from dragon disciple=45+4 rage for only a few rounds per day since you are only barbarian level 1 :)
So 7 attacks with dragon for +25 damage which is not really all that impressive if you compare this to a dedicated warrior. :) which also get a lot of strength +wf, ws, weapon training and such and a good armor class not like you...

Yeah, Huge would be great but it costs 6 Evolution Points and it requires level 11 i think to do this.
But since nothing is now fixed lets see...

Just Brainstorming to present my GM some ideas....

Hello,

our GM decided to give each of us a special ring with a great magical power.
The Shaman got one that gives him complete Cleric channel.
The Rogue got Ninja Ki.
The Ranger got Druid Animal Companion.
The Sorcerer got a Metamagic Ring with charges he can combine as he sees fit.
For me he was a bit lost. So i thought perhaps about giving my Pet some Evolution Points from Summoner.

Would this be fair? How many would you give him to balance the other options? I thought about this to be able to use my pet a bit longer because at the moment it is most of the time just a useless space filler because every one of us is so much better in hiting and doing damage. My pet is a Allosaurus, we are level 7 and we have a higher wbl by a lot ;)

Any advice, also on the selection of Evolution Powers would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards

Frolo

Ok, let me try to get that straight: Either i attack with 5(including haste) Natural Attacks
5* (BAB+5+Str) for 1w8+Str+5
or i attack with Scimitar (+haste +iterative) + Claw + 2Bite
2* (BAB+5+Str) +1 *(BAB-5+5+Str) for 2w6+Str+5 + 3*(BAB-2+5+Str) for 1w8+5+Str*0,5
or i attack with Scimitar 2 Handed +2Bite for
2* (BAB+5+Str) +1 *(BAB-5+5+Str) for 2w6+Str*1,5+5 + 2*(BAB-2+5+Str) for 1w8+5+Str*0,5

I have a Strength of +8 (and no really good way to improve it anymore since i am already at a belt +6) so that means that i get 1w8+13+PA(+4)
2w6+17+PA(6)+1w8+9+PA(2)

Hmm, tough decisions. If i get more iteratives i think changing to Weapons is great but just for one iterative attack i think i stay with the 5 Natural attacks. Once i get my second iterative i will propably change.

@Paulicus: Heroism is a great idea. Till now he has not to many great spells to buff. Any other good ideas for low level buffs the sorcerer could dish out. He has always to many level 1 and level 2 spells and not enough level 3 ones since he likes blasting ;)

Sadly, we only have a shaman, Ranger, Sorcerer, Rogue and me in the Party. So besides Haste no other buff to get there. Oh wait the shaman gave out Bless and he is constantly healing us and using staffs and spells to soften the enemy up. We as Damage Dealers do exactly that. We deal as much damage as we can and that is a damn lot if we are left free to do that.

Oh i know a real good way to draw aggro.
Dress up like the Mage and do as if you are reciting spells.
How to survive: Get the mage to cast Mage Armor on you and be the monk with really high defensive abilities.
Since there is a rule to target mages first, i think it could work out like that. The Mage dresses like a monk and you dress like a mage. For unintelligent enemies you are lost and should resolve to Grapple or something like that to not let them get near the mages ;)

@Paulicus: You sold me on the idea of Pearls of Power, will buy a handful of Level 2 ones, i guess they are really cheap and offer the most for me: Ironskin/Barkskin for me/Pet, Lockjaw, Lesser Restoration, Resist Energy (Fire/Acid) which i definitely need all day long :)

Level one does not offer overly much for me, or am i overlooking great spells there besides Longstrider for me an my pet? And perhaps feather step?
Level 3 has good spells, but the pearls will be quite expensive at that level and i don't need so many spells of that level. Level 4 would be great but even more expensive...

So in Higher Levels i want a +5 Fortuitous keen Scimitar for the Two Handed Attacks of Opportunity. And my Normal Attack Sequence is +15/10 with this Scimitar and 3 Attacks at +13 with my Bite/Bite/claw withy my +5 AoMF. If i need to move i can use the Two Handed Scimitar as well, if i use my Swift Action for a Quickened Spell. Oh and of course Haste with the Scimitar as well. I only need Multiattack as a feat.
Oh and with the Rod of Extend (which is so cheap i can staples of them) i get Barkskin +4 at 3,5 Hours per casting (at level 10).

Damn that Lockjaw states "other natural attacks", otherwise i could grapple all people and beat them senseless ;) Or is there a chance to Grapple somebody and attack him at the same time wiht all other attacks? I know i can release the grapple as free action, do my attack routine and if i hit try to regrapple him...

Kind Regards

Frolo

I use the Two-Headed Troll, so i have Bite/Bite/Claw/Claw, so 4 Attacks vs 1 Attack with a Scimitar and all of those are Mainhand so 1 Time the Strength Bonus. With the Quickrunners Shirt i can switch Targets 4 times a day and still make a Full Attack. So either 4 times a +13 Attack or 1 Time with 1.5 Strength. I choose the 4 Times. Perhaps later on i will switch to a Big Two Handed Weapon but i get the reach and more attacks. So why not go with the Unarmed Attack. Oh and on Level 12 when i switch to a real Troll i even get the Troll Regeneration and even then i am some attakcs ahead (or i choose Multiattack and do a Scimitar, Claw/Bite/Bite Routine ;)

Kind Regards

Frolo

Hmm ok, then it is more spellcasting then. More Rods and Pearls to buff a bit more. The problem is that our Master is a bit erratic and pre battle buffing is not always great to do. But once into higher levels this will be better.

The Problem with Rod of Quicken is the way to use it. I need a Glove of storing to get it out without wasting actions, right?

And what should i retrain my craft wondrous items to and which new feat to take?

Oh and since i am a Goliath Druid i shapeshift to Humanoids, so no need for all the usual animal stuff. I stay Humanoid, i just get a bit prettier ;)

Kind Regards

Daniel

Hello,

our GM is a bit generous, so that i have lots and lots of money on my Hand.
I am a Level 7 Goliath Druid with an Allosaurus that just grew to large.
I have the Feats: Power Attack, Heavy Armor Prof and Craft Wondrous Items (which was a mistake in backsight).
I didn't decide on the Level 7 feat by now.
My General Thing is it to switch into a 2 Headed Troll for 4 Attacks, 5 if the sorcerer is using haste. I got some items for Grapple as well, to use with Lockjaw for Grappling.
My Pet is only the sidekick that guards the Backline or Grapples Foes if they happen to pass by.
I have:
Armor Dragon Full Plate +3
Ring Ring of Protection +2
Belt Giant Strength +4
Head Grapplers Mask
Body Druid Vestment
Headband Wisdom +4
Chest Quick Runners Shirt(modified for 4 times a day)
Eye Eyes of the Eagle
Feet Tremor Boots
Hand Gauntlests of skilled maneuver
Neck AoMF +4
Shoulders Cloak of Resistance +2
Wrists Armbands of the Brwaler
Slotless
Wayfinder with Ioun Stone Clear Spindle Cracked
Wayfinder with Ioun Stone Dusty Rose Prism cracked
Rod of Extend Minor
Handy Haversack

Any ideas what to do to improve myself a bit more?
Normally i use my spells to buff myelf. Natural Armor, Longstrider, Lockjaw. Stuff like that.

Any ideas would be great. Oh and i don't know how much money we get. That is totally erratic. Sometimes he gives out 100k a day, some days we don't get any. All in all we have around 10 times as much as we should i guess...

Kind Regards

Frolo

I don't understand your post.
Ranger Wild Stalker doesn't get favored Enemy or a weapon style. Or what are you talking about?

17
10

I guess i become a Big Stupid Fighter, there is not much i can do with that ;)

Hello,

i think this whole build will not really work.

Eldritch Heritage should work, same as with a Sorcerer. But Dragon Style names Unarmed Strikes and Natural Attacks are no unarmed Strikes. Also Touch of Rage is a Standard Action that holds only one round so absolutely useless. Oh and good luck with your taboo. There is only one left ;)
I can't really tell why you get a strength of 34 but you will know.

So lets calculate again:

BAB +7 Str +12 Spirit +3 AoMF +3 Power Attack -3 Haste +1 WF +1 = 24
Damage is: str 12 AoMF +3 Power Attack +6 Spirit +3 Seance +4 = 28

So not that impressive, but still good at that level.

And since i have absolutely no idea about Psionics and if Psionics works with Magic i will just abstain from that.

Just my 2 Cents: Frolo

Hmm, could be worth a shot, and which skills would you find useful for a leader, i mean there are no real leadership skills or feats, most are just for small combat scale.

Yeah, thought about that as well, but it seems this one is still about 5 persons. I really need a general that can lead 5000 persons in big wars. It is kingmaker and my players want to bring war all around it seems, at least they ask all the time about big armies and stuff :)

Hello all,

i am running a kingmaker game and now i get a new player that wants to be the general and raise armies and command them. So i want to know what you would need for that and which class could be used and which ones would be good at it.

I think you would need Diplomacy to hold morale, Knowledge(History) for old battles, knowledge(geography) for good strategic points, perhaps Profession(Soldier) or (General)?

What are your guesses. every input helps :)

Oh and he wants to be a archer, but i think he can do this with nearly every character concept...

Best Wishes

What do you guys think of this Build:

Barbarian 3/ Martial Artist 1/Sorceror 1/ Dragon Disciple 10/ Whatever

You take Crossblooded Empyreal/Draconic so you use your Wisdom as your caster stat and as your main source of Defense. You rely on Flurry and unarmed strikes, but can take the feat to flurry with claws and bites if you think you need it in Dragon Form. Add in Dragon Style and Dragon Wing and you get your impressive Strength times 1.5 on all your attacks and you get quite a few. Then you can add Arcane Strike in for more fun. The spells are a bit set back for me, as i would use mainly defensive and utility spells like vanish and Mirror Image. But since you can get +7 NA by level 15 from Dragon Disciple and Sorceror alone and Resistance to 1 (or perhaps 3 forms if you advance both with crossblooded) form of magic you are pretty defensive oriented as well, so not the worst glass cannon :)
By Level 15 you have 5 Attacks without haste, every attack with 1.5 your strength, can charge through friends and through rough terrain.
Your AC is 10+7(NA)+Wis+4(Mage Armor)+Dex, so something in the 20's without any money at all, with a bit money you can reach 30, not hot, but better than most glass cannons i know :) And you don't need a high dex score for the Two Weapon Fighting. You even get a bonus feat as monk. If you wanted you could go monk 2 for evasion and another bonus feat.

Ok, anything i missed in this build or that could be made better? I mean as usual you need 3 high scores (Str/Wis/Con) but since this is DD usual i don't think i have to work it extra.

Best

Daniel

what has the bloodline to do with access to spells?

Perhaps try it with a dragon discipline, it should work very well with a melee based caster, you have to be dragon bloodline, but other than that you have the spellcasting and the hp and the oomph behind... so something like: Sorc 2/ Barbarian 8/Dragon Discipline 10 for 16 bab +4 str +2 con +2 int 12 level bloodline abilities and 9. Level Casting so 4. Level spells which work best with buff spells...
just an idea to ponder over...

I know the requirements, but i still have some levels of warrior or barbarian to work with, so i would start out with e.g.: Barbarian 1/Bard 2-5/DD 6-8/Barbarian 9-20.
Stuff of 3.5 is not allowed, core only. Perhaps i would be allowed a minor feat or such, if it is not "overpowered"...
And the Purpose is a strong combatant with high strrength that has utility, so as not to feel completely useless when not fighting, so some skills and spells and other stuff to do.

Hey,

I was thinking about playing a Dragon Discipline huge strength build. So let's see what we have and work from there...

We are given 25 point buy so the stats should be around something like this:
Str: 15 (+2) //7
Dex: 14 //5
Con: 15 //7
Int: 14 //5
Wis: 8 //-2
Cha: 13 //3

The Stat raises will go in Str/Con/Cha/Str/Str so he will end with 24Str/14Dex/16Con/14Int/8Wis/14Cha which should be enough for a melee combatant with some utility functions...
Ok, i thought about going Bard 4/ Dragon Discipline 4/ ??? Rest

The Problem is i am not really decided what to take for the rest or if it would be better to take a bit fewer of bard or replace it completely with Sorc 1/Dragon Discipline 8. Would have a bit better spells to cast but not the skill points to do anything besides.

About feats i am only decided about Power Attack and Arcane Strike, the rest is still to be decided.

Spells will be everything that buffs me and some control spells put in.

So let the ideas flow what you can do with this :)
