Seems like what the crew needs is a devilishly handsome and charismatic young bard like Fletch :) He's an archer bard so secondary ranged damage, spellcasting and buffing.

He needs total rebuilding for level 9 and his backstory will be changed but I'll take my time over that tomorrow.

Are we looking at standard level 9 WBL when it comes to gear?

Fletcher's grin stretches wide across his face.

He snaps his fingers, a wicked look in his eye, and suddenly the bar is filled with the deep, resonating sound of several dozen ancient Osirion. Ghost Sound. The sound comes out of no-where but then is suddenly everywhere. You can see several people in the bar, enjoying their sleepy mid-morning ale suddenly startled and sitting bolt upright, some even scrabbling for weapons.

The tribal chanting builds and builds along with the tension until Fletcher suddenly hops down off his stool and bursts into song; a rich and clear voice emanating from his throat:

I can't stop this feeling
Deep inside of me

He shoots a pointing finger at the pale-skinned girl leaning on the bar, a wry smile on her face, head slightly shaking.

Girl, you just don't realize
What you do to me

As he struts through the bar like a prancing peacock, Fletch snaps his fingers once again and this time the sound is accompanied by the sight of dozens of skeletal warriors on stage, all stamping up and down but each with over exaggerated features such as massive jaws or huge over-bearing foreheads. Silent Image. Each one chants as he stamps up and down. Undaunted though, the bard continues his song;

When you hold me
In your arms so tight
You let me know
Everything's all right

He jumps on stage with the skeletons as he belts out the tune and as he marches up and down the line, one by one the skeletons collapse jaws flopping open and comedic 'X's over their eyes. Fletch sends a glance to the party playing cards and a wink to the ladies. By now, the rest of the bar are laughing and tapping their mugs on tables, giving ironic cheers as each skeleton falls and Fletcher boots the heads into the crowd that disappear into wisps of smoke as they sail through the air.

Fletch brings the song to a close by drawing his blade and swiping it through the illusion of a final creature, a terrifying mummy with an elaborate head dress and old rotting bandages. It's head comes rolling off and bounces across the bar to the feet of the party.

Fletcher really doesn't know what to do. He can hear the goblins approaching from both sides and he realises he needs to do something to keep them back.

He spins around and cast a quick spell, making it appear that the ground drops away into a deep, sheer pit lined with spikes.

Same tactic as I posted previously. Making it appear that there is a pit in squares P10, 11 and Q10, 11. It is a DC 13 Will save though they cannot make a save until they interact with the illusion

He moves forward as he sings and seeing Ellowin isolated, he hatches a devious plan to keep the goblins away from her.

Move action to M11

with a snap of his fingers as the song reaches a crescendo, the bridge outside the room suddenly drops away, replaced by a deep, dark pit, it's bottom filled with wicked looking spikes.

Standard action to cast Silent Image on squares K10 and K11. The DC to disbelieve is only 14 but the goblins are not entitled to a save unless they interact with the illusion. I'm hoping Ellowin can pick them off while they are trapped the other side of the 'pit' or else they are forced to find another way around

Fletcher hears Gohei grunt in pain and a cackle of horrid laughter ring out from the North – they are slowly getting surrounded!

We need some help here, this isn’t fun any more!

He looks down at his bow and feels suddenly how small he is. But rather than let dismay get the better of his he suddenly thinks;

I may be small, but I’ve got a hell of a big voice!

He had never had the opportunity to perform in front of huge crowds, a bar here, a concern hall there but never had he filled a theatre like the ones in Magnimar, seats rising in a steep angle like an amphitheatre. But even so, with all his performances people loved his voice, people had been inspired by his voice and so with all the chaos breaking out around them, the small Halfling unleashes his big voice and sings:

Thanks, Dad.. he thinks as the arrow finds it's home in the goblin's chest. For years he was groomed to take over the family business. Shipping and lists, sails and lists, cargo and lists. It was mind-numbing. But the long days of fencing and archery his father forced him to endure at least were a distraction from it all. After all a gentleman entrepreneur should practice the gentlemanly sports.

Now he was using those skills not to close deals but to save his neck!

Seeing that between them Gohei and Yui have the injured goblin well in hand, and that it seems willing to talk, Fletcher dashes back to the courtyard beside Anisha.

I think we're going to have a pretty big audience in a second, especially if we can't stop that one's screeching.

He pulls his bow up quickly and fires an arrow at the Goblin on the walkway, intending it as a warning shot.

A low hum resonates through his bow string as he looses, giving the arrow a whistling quality as it lances through the air.

Wow, this isn't a game. These little monsters are going to kill us if we let them!

Up until now Fletcher has seen the whole endeavour as a lark, a mini adventure he can use to write a few lyrics and maybe get enough coin to head home to Magnimar. But now he was in a fight, and one where things could go badly wrong too.

He rushes up beside Yui (move to G12) and snaps his fingers in the direction of the goblin furthest to the right. A weird discordant sound suddenly bursts around the creature.

Fletcher watches on with amusement as Gohei and Yui ride into the village. He can only imagine the looks on the goblin’s faces as the huge warrior and the little blue girl trot proudly between the ramshackle buildings.

That’s definitely one way to get an audience!

He scuttles up to the broken gate with his bow ready, scanning for any charging little green men.

I understand the map. The broken gate us in C11, correct? The lake is obvious but what is the ruined building to the south east? Are we able to make out any details on that?

And I thought the swamp was bad already. Somehow these goblins have made it seem even worse. Fletcher muses.

So the village is to the south east, that's right isn't it Walthus? Do you know how many goblins are there?

I don't think I'm really qualified to give an opinion on this but it makes sense to me that we check it out before heading in there. But hey, even with fireworks, goblins are dumb enough to kill eachother! They'll be talking about this for months when we bring that chief's head back!

We've only been here a few hours, let's not be too hard on ourselves. Fletcher says, happily plumping up cushions on the one armchair and plonking himself down with a satisfied sigh. There's always tomorrow.

He spends the rest of the evening joining in polite conversation with Walthus, scribbling a few absent-minded lyrics in his notebook and munching away on tea and cold meat form the warden's larder. He doesn't ask which type of meat it is, feeling safer in his ignorance.

The next day he wakes bright and early as the first rays of light filter in through the shutters and stretches with a loud yawn. After a simple breakfast of porridge oats and weak wine, he gathers his gear and armor for the goblin hunt ahead.

Fletcher feels a sudden hot breath on his neck. He freezes instinctively, like a rabbit in the lamp light. Almost too afraid to turn his head he cranes his neck instead, eyes pushed to the corners, straining... straining to catch a glimpse of the Soggy River Monster that's about to take a bite out of the soft flesh of his throat....

Gohei's horse blows a big, we huff of air in the singer's face.

Phew... what you been feeding this thing Gohei, rotten meat?

He moves away from the horse and begins kicking softly at the pile of bones.

Some of these look human. Or at least humanoid.

He takes his bow from his back and nocks an arrow, suddenly wary that everything in the swamp wants to end his career before it's really begun.

Fletcher slops along through the swamp, lamenting his once clean armor.

If it weren't for the others he would have walked straight passed the mound of logs - one pile of trash looks much the same as another. But those with more nature-sense quickly point out the door and pile of bones.

Hmmm.... a big pile of bones. That's not creepy in the slightest. Still, is this actually the den of the legendary Soggy River Monster! I'm sure there's a song in there somewhere. he muses. Old man River... Down by the River... Creepy Monster Night Blues...

That hole looks a bit cramped for one of you big folks. Uh... Yui.. that scouting mission you talked about....? he says, readying his bow. What do you think? Or shall I just shed some light in there? he says, casting the cantrip on a stone beside the path and flipping it up in the air with one hand before deftly catching it in the other.

My eyes are pretty sharp but I don't know anything about swamps. Wouldn't Rishana be the best?

Fletch would be a poor scout. He has no knowledge of nature or survival. Plus hos concentration span isn't great and if anything does happen he is poor in melee combat. I think the order should be Rishana = Senga > Gohei > Yui = Anisha > Fletcher = Ellowin

We're actually in Sheriff Hemlocks employ. He's started up the Goblin Bounties on account of the recent troubles with them. He wants to make sure that a nuisance doesn't turn into a problem. We haven't met by the way, Fletcher Woodward.

We actually came by to get some advice on the swamp and the goblins but I feel like we should be asking about that thing. I mean is that normal? Are there more of those things running around the swamp?

He suddenly feels like he is being watched at the thought of it and though he sees no more faceless stalkers he is in no way comforted by Sengas amber eyes staring at him. Unblinking. Before she trots off to a corner to link at her foreleg.

Once he manages it he sees Anisha lying on the table, a big bruise already forming on the side of her head. Aside from the wound, she almost looks peaceful.

He reaches up and strokes her hair gently whilst whistling a soft tune.

The bruise begins to fade and some colour comes back to her cheeks.

What? I said I had a few tricks up my sleeve.
