Appearance: Very ordinary and unassuming Flac has closely cropped straight brown hair, brown eyes, smooth white skin, and a typical square face along with an average build. He wears a rather plain, loose fitting, set of explorer’s clothing along with a hooded, gold trimmed, blue robe belted at the waist with a gold cord.

Description: Grew up in the city of Yanmass in Taldor. During the city’s yearly Burning Blades celebration (holiday to celebrate/worship Sarenrae) he went with his best friend, Kale, to join the festivities. Kale, was a performer in many of the month long holiday’s productions and finally had a day off to enjoy herself. While they were inside shopping the building caught on fire and Flac was the only survivor. As rescuers removed the rubble that was trapping him, he saw the sun shining directly above him as a dove flew overhead and immediately dedicated his life to the goddess Sarenrae. Little did he know the fire was started by one of the burning blades used by the dancers in the celebration. Always conflicted in his faith, he often finds himself questioning his faith in Sarenrae, because his best friend perished in the fire.

While serving in his local temple he struck up a brief friendship with a paladin who was traveling with a caravan from Kelesh. Struck by his story and his devotion to Sarenrae despite his struggles with the faith she gave him her very own copy of ‘The Birth of Light and Truth’ to keep as his own. This copy was signed by the paladin and in addition to the original text contains stories she gathered and tales of her adventures. She encouraged Flac to leave the temple and go out into the world. Urging him to discover new uplifting stories and heroic tales, possibly even his own, worthy of adding to the book. This was why Flac originally set out to join the Pathfinder Society.

Flac has only recently set out into the world outside of Yanmass and Sarenrae’s temple. He does not have much world experience leaving him seeming timid and frequently unsure of himself especially in combat or conflict scenarios. He is voracious for knowledge to improve his skills and learn more about the outside world. Despite enjoying their company he has not made many friends since the death of Kale. He is slow to warm to strangers fearing the pain he would have to deal with given they meet a similar fate to his deceased friend. He enjoys listening to others, especially if they have a tale of adventure to share and always looks for the good in everyone. He has a strong distaste for cowardice, not helping those in need, and those that rush to the judgment of others.

Haunted: Flac continues to sense Kale’s presence and is haunted with frequent nightmares of the tragedy. When called on to speak or preach in front of others he feels especially close to his friend’s memory perhaps due to her performance background. When successful in these activities he can feel her spirit guiding him and almost hear her encouraging words. However, when stumbling over his words he believes he can sense her anger and resentment towards Sarenrae not only cutting her life short, but doing so with fire. Flac saved a strip of singed cloth from Kale’s clothing that he keeps tied around his religious text to keep it sealed and to use as a bookmark.
