Please to reduce that number by 2 for Da Ogre and I.

Plan on the Ogre and I being there.

It was really awesome to see all the ladies gathered to craft. Looking forward to not only next year and Paizocon, but also for casting on a goblin hat (or 2). Thanks for the patterns.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

That's one package that the warehouse ladies handle with extra care.

One for me and one for Ogre PLEASE!!

I used dreams as clues and misdirects. I had each player roll a will save. Under 15 - failed and believed their dream, over - realized that something was not quite as it appeared. The dreams were directed at each player's backstory and/or how they played.

One person had chosen the debt theme and his dream saw the Prof. coming back from the dead to collect. Another was given a dream where she believed another party member had started the fire at the town hall meeting (she's still suspicious).

It helped create a little suspense and set the players off on research topics to see what may have given them the dreams.

One of the players rolled a nat 20 so his character was given a portent dream of what they would see in the prison (they hadn't started searching Harrowstone yet). I incorporated hints of what it was like at the prison during the fire.

I have stayed in hotels all over the US and would definitely put the Coast Bellevue in the above average category. It's not one of the Vegas Strip hotels, but it's a lot better than places I've found in BFE. The rooms were clean and roomy. I had no problems with using the internet. And the bonus for someone who brought along a sewing machine (no comments) I had plenty of room to set it up and use it without doing gymnastics. I totally agree about the breakfast. Since Whole Foods is right within easy walking distance, I prefer heading over there for 'real' food anyways.

A friend of mine has coordinated the gaming for multiple conventions in NC and the method he uses is pre-con registration sign-up to initially fill the advertised games. Then, he includes a notebook for each day of gaming with sign-up sheets sorted according to the start times throughout each day. Those who pre-registered are already printed on the sheets in that day's binder, but he leaves room for people to sign up and fill in the remaining spots to round out a table...or to sign up as alternates in case some of them don't show.

The GMs also know to check the notebooks when they arrive (and throughout the con) to see how many players (and alternates) to expect. Then, when a table musters, they have the alternates on standby until they determine if all the slots are taken. If so, the game commences and the alternates are turned away to form their own game. If not, the alternates get added in the order they signed up. Works pretty well...

Just my two-cents,

That sounds like a great way to adjust as the con goes on.

Well, I think the event sign-up procedure could be improved.

One of the suggestions I overheard while working at the PFS HQ was to have a chart of all scheduled games with available spots posted and have a way for people to swap event tickets. My thought was to post up all the games and show which ones were filled in the online and which have open seats.

The preregistration is hard since there is an inevitable amount of shuffling around once people get to the Con. They meet up with others and change their minds as to how much they want to participate in this or that function.

I'd suggest having tickets available at the Con for people to get into games. This would help alleviate the line of hopefuls waiting at HQ for a game. By having a bunch of tickets ready for each session and make it a first come approach, anyone interested in getting into a game would 'know' they had a spot. It might help get tables filled faster and eliminate the delayed starts, too.

I hope it's not asking too much, but maybe add another chart to the events schedule. Have one of the hotel and have a 'city map' of the surrounding area, marking the restaurants, pubs, Whole Foods, and other such sites. BTW the hotel map was really helpful for pointing out where the events were being held.

Josh, thanks for letting me get some of my spare time work done while manning HQ.

It was a lot of fun sitting there listening to all the snippets of the PFS games. One of my fav moments was catching a GM dancing a jig. "They were encountering Goblins, of course I had to dance."

This years con was great. Looking forward to next year.

Great job Paizo!!

We had great luck running over to the Whole Foods across the street and grabbing food. Work out a deal with a few other people to make food runs or just buy a stash and bring snacks and beverages to the table. They have a good selection of pizzas, sandwiches, and stuff like that.

Hey ALL,

I have been hitting this Con pretty hard, so my posting on the boards here has been curtailed the entire time....

Nevertheless, we ARE doing DIM SUM today...meeting at the reg desk area at 10:15 or so, to migrate to Top Gun for "brunch".

Join us!!

Thanks for the Dim Sum, Tim. Was worth being crammed into the back of the car.
