Does anyone have blank or stock (preferably blank) map of Andoran? Basically I'm running a campaign currently in that country and I would like a simple map with most of the city/landscape names removed from it.
One last think since we are kinda on the subject. How do I come up with random DC for unexpected events? Say what if a part of a cave, caves-in, how would I make the reflex save DC? Sorry for asking so many questions I've really only played, never GMed.
Aratrok wrote: The formula for save DC against one of these abilities is;
10 (Base)
+ 1/2 of the monster's hit dice
+ the relevant ability score modifier of the monster
+ any additional bonuses (such as the mephit's racial bonus)
So a mephit with 14 constitution and 8 hit dice would have a breath weapon save DC of 10 + 4 + 2 + 1 (racial) = 17.
Is this the formula for all save DCs?

I've been reading through my Bestiary and I've seen that many things require a DC for example a Mephit:
"Breath Weapon (Su), Each type of mephit can unleash a particular breath weapon every 4 rounds as a standard action. The DC is Constitution-based and includes a +1 racial bonus."
But then things start to confuse me even more, there are sub-types of Mephit's and all of their breath weapon entries say different things and some call for reflex based saves such as the Salt Mephit:
"Breath Weapon: A cone of salt crystals that deals 1d4 slashing damage. The salt also causes living creatures to be sickened for 3 rounds. A Reflex save halves the damage and negates the sickened effect."
And then some entries like the gelatinous cube also call for a DC:
"Engulfed creatures are subject to the cube’s paralysis and acid, gain the pinned condition, are in danger of suffocating, and are trapped within its body until they are no longer pinned. The save DC is Strength-based."
So all in all I'm trying to ask how do I make up these DC's that the PC's are supposed to save against?
Thanks you guys!
Happy Gaming!
If a character succeeds on his spellcraft check to read a fly scroll and is then able to use it does he have the ability to then read any fly scroll without a check?
And can only spellcasters use scrolls?
It says in the SRD and Core Rulebook: Once a character deciphers a particular piece of magical writing, he does not need to decipher it again. Deciphering magical writing allows the reader to identify the spell and gives some idea of its effects (as explained in the spell description). If the magical writing is a scroll and the reader can cast arcane spells, he can attempt to use the scroll.
Are there any rules for building strongholds in Pathfinder? Or any type of building for that matter?
I have recently played through most of the Beginner Box about mid level 3. And I am going to change to the Core Rulebooks, now, we are going to roll new characters, and mainly use the Core Rulebook for character advancement and options. And I'm wondering if my players ever use any of the Ultimate books, or Advanced books if they will become over powered? I know this happens in 3.5 with many supplements, but does it happen with Pathfinder?
Hello I'm looking to join a online Pathfinder game preferably through some virtual tabletop. If you have a personal questions feel free to post them. I have some experience with Pathfinder, not a lot though. SO I may be asking quite a few questions.
Can I use the 3.5 MM in Pathfinder with little to no changes? If not what is a way I can update them to Pathfinder? I wanna use classic D&D monsters not present in Pathfinder.
Would I put silica gel inside the books or just around it?
CalebTGordan wrote: Try a cooler, darker place. A trunk or chest in a closet would be a good alternative. I am no expert, so I could be wrong. I'm trying this...
Okay I'm attempting to press the books I hope it helps. I need some silica gel too.
Thats the thing... Our A/C is old and doesn't work any longer (Just this psst year). So I'm screwed on that side. :P
Any other thoughts?

Moisture will cause page warping. What climate do you live in, and how do you store your books? I live in Florida, so sub-tropical. I store them on a shelf. As a former resident of the southern states, I can tell you from experience that the humidity is exactly what you are seeing the effects of.
The best thing to do is find a way to cut down on the air exposure the books see - such as putting them in a box or cabinet of some sort other container, buying a dehumidifier, or storing them with sillica packets on or around them.
As for the waving that has already happened... sometimes just reducing the moisture in the books remedies that, other times stacking them with a few books on top of them after you have reduced the moisture fixes it.
I have yet to see a book refuse to "flatten." Thanks! Where can I get these silica packets? Also is a Dresser Drawer Okay?

But anyways, anyone have a solution? Its irritating me...

Do you happen to have both newer and older books by paizo? IIRC the old binding company (in the 3.5 days) this was sometimes a problem, but I haven't heard it on the newer books. High humidity or storing near a heater/radiator can do this
EDit: didn't relize it was the hardcovers... those go through a different company than the softcovers, but again I've only seen this on pages I've spilt something on
I've actually never seen a soft cover wave.... No matter the books all my LotR books, 4e, and modules/supplements aren't like this.
Any idea on how to reverse this affect?

Lol. But really has this happened to any of your books?

Okay this may seem a bit stupid but does anyone have a waving problem with their book pages? Here is a link with a picture of my book.

Does anyone know why this is happening to me? I know its merely cosmetic but its annoying this is also happening with my 4e books. I hear its from the binding process.
If you need any more pictures let me know.

And another question is can I take my level 5 beginner box characters and use them in core with no conversion? Hi and welcome! From what we have been told the Beginner Box is intended to be an introduction to the full version of the pathfinder Roleplaying Game. While it’s “lighter on rules” it’s not going to be supported as a rules-light version of the game.
You will need to make a couple of minor adjustments to your character to transfer them to the full version of the rules, yes. Okay with that know I may just use the beginner box to warm the up to RPing (my players are noobs to RPing)and then make brand new characters at level 1, or if they want just make the characters they want at lvl 5.

Tamago wrote: Felorn wrote: How many monsters are in the beginners box, and how many hours of play, approximately, are in the box? I count 45 monsters in the box. There are another four monsters in the free GM Kit you can download from paizo.com.
Hours of play is a lot more difficult to answer, because it really depends on the group you play with. But it's safe to say that you can play for many, many hours given all of the adventuring from 1st to 5th level!
According to the experience chart in the book, it takes 20 encounters of a difficulty matching the level of the player characters to gain a level. However, there will be some harder encounters in a typical game, such as "boss monsters" or big, climactic fights. So if you figure on about 15 encounters per level, times five levels, that's 75 encounters. If each one takes 1/2 an hour, that's nearly 40 hours of gameplay just from the combats! Of course, a lot of time will be spent exploring, solving puzzles, talking with other characters (such as townsfolk) and the like. So I would think you could easily spend 50 or 60 hours of gameplay to play up through level five. Some groups will be far faster, and others will be far slower, but I think that's a reasonable ballpark estimate.
And once you've done that, you can easily roll up new first-level characters and play new adventures with them!
Honestly, the limitations of the box are mainly that your group will eventually become a bit tired of the options available in the beginner box and will be ready to start incorporating some of the additional player options from the Core Rulebook and fighting monsters from the various Bestiaries.
Does that help answer your question? Yes It does. Thanks a lot. I will for sure pick this up. And I just downloaded the Player kit and GM kit, I should get a couple more hours out of these.

Okay. So back to my second question, how hard is it to learn Pathfinder from the core Products?

Also is it easy to learn the game from the core rulebook by yourself? Say hello to your new best friend.
That's the official PRD (Pathfinder Reference Document). It's an official, free online compendium of all the core rules (and some non-core stuff too, like the APG, UM, UC, Bestiaries, and GMG).
Learn the rules from there in your spare time, and in a year when you're able to play, check out whether or not you want to buy the book(s). Thanks Jiggy, I will for sure check this out. I never played 3.5, but have dabbled in 2e, and played a bit of 4e. I can look through some of the freebie stuff and this online compendium and notice many things I already understand.

Or is it just not as easy as The Beginner Box?

Okay you guys sorry I haven't checked this forum lately but I pretty much got a answer to what I was looking for go here if you want to see our discussion. Some of you may have heard of the site: http://www.dragonsfoot.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=51942
Okay so I'm thinking about getting the Pathfinder Core Rulebook, notice I said thinking. And I wanted people opinions on the game. You see I'm playing a 4e DnD game and am not really getting a good vibe (not to say I don't like the game cause I do). But I am also working with AD&D 2e and its too rules heavy. So would you guys suggest Pathfinder? (Yes I'm looking for biased answers because I want true fans opinions)
P.S. I never played 3.0 or 3.5
