Felix paces a bit as he speaks.

"I haven't the foggiest idea how Alyln's abilities work, but if she can keep us informed of what you see and hear, that would be excellent. Otherwise, we should remain here, prepared to move about quickly, in case the scene is more than it appears to be."

Hello again! I've recovered from the jet lag from my flight back yesterday, so here's hoping you haven't all forgotten about me. Just have to catch up on where we are, then I'll make a post.

Sorry to leave the group down a member for its first fight. Unfortunately, Felix is wary of civilians, and isn't willing to fight in his social identity in a populated area, even at night. He'll probably be staying in his Crane identity for a while after this, though.

As his companions readied for battle, Felix's expression turned sour. Crane could typically make quick of the magical creatures he found, but without the anonymity of his mask, the well-mannered gentleman couldn't bear to be caught practicing witchcraft. He gave a quick scan of the area to be certain there weren't any uninitiated folk around, then spoke quickly.

"If it proves too dangerous, take cover and delay until my return."

With that said, he focused his magic into a shimmering field around him, and vanished completely from sight. He had roughly thirty seconds to find a new hiding spot before the magic wore off, at which point, if anyone saw, his cover would be blown entirely and none of this would have any point.

Felix is casting Vanish and finding a secure hiding place. After however long it takes to get to his hiding place, it takes one minute (ten rounds) to change identities, which puts him squarely out of the fight.

Felix masks his disappointment and makes his way out the door.

"You may have tipped our hand there."

Felix waits for the doctor to leave, then lowers his voice to speak to the woman. "Is there anything you're not telling us? Anything you have to say, even if you suspect you imagined it, may help us."

Felix leads the group up to the room the receptionist indicated.

With the sheriff gone, Felix gives Thomas a nonplussed look.

"Don't be absurd, McFaddy. You're not going to be reprimanded for doing your job. That was only for the sheriff's benefit."

Felix gives his companion a subtle smile as she introduces him as her husband. Inscrutable as he tended to be, it was difficult to tell if he was bemused by the implication, or simply attempting to sell the ruse better.

"Thank you so much, sir. It says much of your character that you would be willing to give us the time from your busy schedule. We oughtn't keep you any longer, though; I'm certain you've plenty of work left."

He offers the man a hearty handshake and a goodbye, before turning to Mr. Greenbeard and pulling him aside.

"Harkell, my friend, please do exercise a bit more discretion around the uninitiated. This is a very delicate matter. We're lucky the sheriff wasn't a superstitious man, you know."

Felix steps in to intervene. "I can't condone lying, Thomas," he lies. "I assure you, good sir, if my companion deceived you, there will be consequences in their own time."

Felix makes no outward sign of having heard, nor does he mentally address her in return.

"Is there any troublesome wildlife in the area? I can't imagine an animal could swing a wooden bat, but I'd like to address all possibilities."

Felix seems ready to speak again, but is surprised to find that the next point is made by the frontiersman. He remains quiet until Leon finishes, then gives him a nod of subtle praise. His respect for the man is rising by the minute. Perhaps, in time, Mr. Hatcher would make a proper gentleman.

Felix took a moment to think over his words before finishing the thought.

"Dire consequences."

Felix quickly makes himself comfortable in a seat across from the dwarf's desk.

"My name is Felix Tipper, and I represent an organization with a particular interest in the ongoing investigation of your construction site."

Felix has no idea if he's right about that, but he's banking on a mixture of confidence and wild conjecture to get him in.

As the carriage neared its destination, Felix took a few moments to remove his disguise and prepare to conduct business. There was no reason to suspect that Crane might be needed, and it would do well to make a friend or two in the unfamiliar city.

Felix, conducting himself as the proper gentleman he is, strolled over and gave the dwarf a polite bow.

"Hello, miss, would you happen to have a moment to spare? I'd like to speak with Gadrin, but I'm concerned I might be intruding. Do you know if he's busy right now?"

I've built a vigilante, which makes me, essentially, two characters in one. As such, I've made two aliases, which will represent my two identities. This will be my social identity.
