I've been reading through all of the Hellknight information to see if I could find the answer, but I'd also like to have a second opinion on the matter.
As it stands, an Armiger in the ranks of the knights is someone who is tied to the order, but hasn't succeeded at the test. However, if they succeed, they are ranked as a Hellknight and can wear the armor, etcetera etcetera.
This is where my question comes in: Do you need to take levels in the Hellknight prestige class to hold a rank above Armiger, or is completion of the test sufficient?

So, there I sat with my group. One player wanted to play a Mobility Fighter using Two-Weapons. He also wanted to be an Elf. However, he looked at the Elf traits. He didn't like the -2 Con, and he knew he wasn't going to get any use out of the Elven Magic trait. He looked in the APG, but alas nothing appealing. Thus, he voiced his concern.
Looking for what could be done, I hit up the Advanced Race Playtest. "Is it possible to make Elves that are cut from a not so magical cloth?", I asked myself.
I came up with this solution. If you remove the Elven Magic trait, that gives you 2 RP to bank. You take away the standard ability mods(+2 DEX, +2 INT, -2 CON costing 0 RP), and replace them with the flexible modifiers(giving a +2 DEX and +2 INT costing 2 RP). You still have your Elves' quickness in mind and body always advertised, and you lose the useless Elven Magic trait.(Useless in the case of a Fighter/Ranger/whatever.)
So far, I think it was a decent decision. It's definitely helped the Player and me, who both wrote up Elven Fighters(Curve Blade plus Two-Handed Fighter = Fun), and I think it'll be useful down the road. Looking forward to the full book.
ZENDIKAR! Possibly my very favorite MTG settings.
Well, I would change up a few things with Elves. If the elves of Zendikar had any frequented classes, the would be: Druid, Fighter, Oracle(?); Ranger, and Rogue. At least, that's what I think after looking at the creature cards.
Also, after reading the full entry on Elves in Zendikar, it speaks of fearlessness, preparedness, and their pragmatism. I think some of the base Elven traits should be swapped for traits that better fit. Elven magic doesn't really work here. Also, for weapon familiarity, I'd say take out the rapier. I've never seen one Elf in Zendikar(or MTG for that matter) use a rapier. Also, I'd vouch for giving them a Wisdom bonus instead of an Intelligence bonus. It's mentioned once or twice in there that the Elves are prized for their Wisdom.
Kor:
+2 Dexterity, +2 Wisdom, -2 Constitution
Medium: Kor are medium sized creatures and have no bonuses or penalties based on size.
Normal Speed: Kor have a base speed of 30 feet.
Acrobatic: +2 racial bonus on Acrobatics and Climb skill checks.
Weapon Familiarity: Kor treat the Spiked Chain and weapons with "Kor" in their name as martial weapons.
Equipment Training: Kor treat their Fighter levels as one level higher for the purposes of Armour Training, Weapon Training, Armour Mastery, and Weapon Mastery. This ability also applies to any other class that offers Weapon Training or Armour Training abilities.(Such as Sohei.)
...

Yep. The MTG race.
So... a little more work done on them.
Kor(Zendikar Version, since it's the one I'm most familiar with.)
Weapon Familiarity: Kor treat the Spiked Chain, Whip, Double Chained Kama, Kyoketsu Shoge, Double-chained Kama, Kusarigama, and Meteor Hammer as martial weapons. (This represents all the various chain and/or rope-like weapons they're always seen using and specializing in.)
Equipment Training: Kor treat their Fighter levels as one level higher for the purposes of Armour Training, Weapon Training, Armour Mastery, and Weapon Mastery. This ability also applies to any other class that offers Weapon Training or Armour Training abilities.(Such as Sohei.)
...
I was also think on perhaps making a Kor based feat that would allow them to treat chain-based weapons as Duelist-usable weapons.
What do you all think so far?
Alright, so far I got this:
Kor:
+2 on any ability score of your choice.
Medium: Kor are medium sized creatures and have no bonuses or penalties based on size.
Normal Speed: Kor have a base speed of 30 feet.
Weapon Familiarity: Spiked Chain, Whip, and maybe Kusari-Gama(?) as a martial weapon. It's a chain-like weapon, and some are portrayed with a sword and chain weapon.
Acrobatic: +2 on Acrobatics and Climb.
...
Hm... anything I should do or add? It feels... kinda lacking.
Hey all, one of my player's asked me how one would do a Kor from magic in Pathfinder. I was thinking just using Human and applying flavor text.
What do you think and/or suggest?
Hello! I'm considering writing up an Aasimar Order of the Star Cavalier for a home campaign.
What are your opinions on this? Any tips or suggestions?
Coolio. Thank you all very much.
Question. For example, if you were to say wear +5 Silken Ceremonial Robes over a Mastercraft Suit of Heavy Armour(Full Plate/O-Yoroi), do you get the enhancement bonus of the Robes and the armour bonus of the Heavy Armour?
Alright, everyone knows that as our characters go up, so does their overall accuracy.
However, their experience in the field doesn't help them in avoidance.
Am I the only one who desires a defense system? Especially with those blasted gun rules...
It's a wee bit a shame. The class lends itself nicely to an Andoran character.
I'm curious to know if this Prestige Class is available. So... is it legal for play?
I was thinking Paladin for the focused-defender type of ethos. It's described that they keep a wary eye out for aboleths and their ilk, I thought mayhap Paladin would suit that sort of watch-for-evil-abomnation- and-slay-it type of attitude. Then again, there is the argument for going Ranger and picking favored enemy aberrations to symbolize this as well.
Hey all, I was cooking up some ideas for a Mordant Spire Elf. Of course, to fit the Grey Elves I'd probably want to take Spirit of the Waters and the Mordant Heritage trait. What classes do you think would be cool. I was thinking perhaps Fighter, Ranger, or even Paladin.
