Hi Paizo tech team

It used to be (like years ago) useful for us to flag spam threads - black magic, buy flowers, etcetera posts/threads. I understood that the flags used to interact with the moderator/automated anti spam procedures.

It now looks like that option has vanished from the pulldown menu. Is it still helpful to flag those threads with some other option? Or is that no longer useful?

I don’t mean what do you need in order to play. I just mean what books would you think should be included to give the full PF2 experience?

It must be a stressful time to work at an RPG company which has always relied on the OGL.

Paizo staff are such a talented, comitted group of people. We're lucky to have you and we're lucky that Paizo is run by people who recognise the value of genuinely Open Gaming.

The Wizards "unauthorising" gambit was trash and Im glad someone is willing to call it out as such and respond to the threat such a move represents (whether they ever pluck up the courage to say it out loud or not).

Erik Mona called these "interesting times". I hope and truly believe it will be another galvanising moment in paizo's history.
You folks have got this!

Hi Tech People

When I try and download the Skull and Shackles Map Folio, I get the following error:

I've tried doing the old log everything out, reset everything, try from different devices and so forth.

Any tips?

Or do you want everything routed through the customer service email, even if its not going to be them that fixes it?

If you could delete my pending order and then close my account, I'd appreciate it.

I hope things improve for the staff and the broader community soon.

You’re not making any clever point, you’re just making extra work for the moderation team. They have to delete your post, all the people who reply to you and then they have to answer the emails from confused posters who said nothing objectionable but who got swept up in the purge.

There is a way to discuss moderation policy - email community@paizo.com or begin a new thread in the website discussion forum. Introducing complaints about moderation into an ongoing thread or defiantly posting something you know is against the forum rules is always unhelpful.

The website moderators are currently understaffed and relatively new to moderation duties. We can make it easier for them by considering any post that includes “this will all be deleted in the morning anyhow” and just hitting cancel instead of submit.

Hi Paizo tech team

I just placed an order in celebration of Paizo voluntarily recognising the union.

In doing so, I was given the option of selecting USPS Priority Mail to Australia. My understanding is that the USPS is no longer shipping down here at all. Is that maybe a glitch? Or maybe priority mail is okay, just not regular mail?

Anyhow - no urgency (I selected UPS for this order) but I figured I’d mention it, in case something has gone wrong.

Cheers
Steve

It’s something of a hidden gem, but if anyone is looking for an excellent Actual Play Podcast devoted to Starfinder, Southern Tomfoolery are (in my opinion) one of the absolute best out there.

They’re really committed to story, character, the lore of the pact worlds and also to respecting the mechanics of the game. They released every week through the pandemic and have over 130 episodes on their main feed (playing through Against the Aeon Throne, Signal of Screams and then Devastation Ark).

They’re my absolute favourite Starfinder podcast and if you haven’t tried them yet, I’d really recommend you give them a listen!

Please cancel both my preorders and all my subscriptions.

I've appreciated the stellar customer service I've received over the last twelve and a half years.

Hi Paizo CS people

I wonder if you’d mind checking the shipping calculation on the above order. I know prices are high but $93 for two items made me wonder if something had gone screwy? (I guess the battle cards could be an odd size and that could do it).

I don’t want to change shipping methods but I’d appreciate someone double checking the sums are right.

Cheers
Steve

I can come up with some marginally useful corner cases, but it seems like something you’d never actually use. Presumably, I’m missing something obvious?

Hi Paizo people. Historically, you’ve only updated errata when a new printing of a book has arrived, so we could use that as a trigger to order a new copy if we like updating our physical books as well.

That’s no longer your policy and sometimes the PDF updates while you still have unerrata-ed books for sale. At present, there’s no way for those of us who prefer books to PDFs to know what printing you have in stock (or more to the point - whether the printing in stock includes the current errata) without essentially spamming the product discussion threads for each book. This strategy doesn’t always result in an answer, or occasionally results in an incorrect answer.

Any chance we could have a page somewhere listing what printings are being shipped from Paizo? (Just for the product lines that get errata)?

Hi Paizo

Would you be able to cancel my lost omens and PF Battles subscriptions, please? (I'll also be cancelling the Pathfinder AP sub once the final Abomination Vaults book is out the door - not sure if that's possible to do "in advance"?)

In terms of reasons, it's going to be an outlier but part of my support for paizo has been due to the dedication to providing print products in an ever-more-digital world. Given the recent shifts away from print products and towards digital, I'm not able to buy everything. (If there was an annual, printed compilation of one-shots, or something then I'd have remained subscribed. Similarly with the recently released Starfinder fiction and the now-digital Pathfinder Tales line).

I'll no doubt keep picking up books as they grab me - the rulebooks, accessories and one-off adventures through to the end of the year look great, so I'll keep those subs going until December at least.

Thanks!
Steve

Hi Paizo people

It’s not a huge deal, but the above order is showing as pending even though it has been delivered (or cancelled as appropriate).

I wonder if you can flip the switch on that to make it not show up for me? In months and years to come, I’m going to see “x+1” pending orders and I’m not going to remember what’s going on, so I’ll probably pester you about it over and over!

(It’s also not an order I want to accidentally duplicate!)

Cheers
Steve

PS - congratulations on getting down below 1000 emails and less than 2 months. I guess the one month wait time is the next big milestone. Good luck. Not long now! :)

Hi Paizo

Historically, paizo books have (usually) only had the errata released and the PDFs updated when a new printing has been received and become available through paizo.com.

I understand that has changed recently and I've seen at least one other person experience the same as me - namely buying a book from the store thinking it would be in line with the errata-ed version, only to discover that it was "old stock" from prior to the errata's release.

I realise there was a lot of pressure to get errata out earlier for those using electronic versions, but I wonder if you would be able to update the webstore to make it clear which printing is in stock?

I generally update my copies of rulebooks once the errata have been incorporated and that used to be easy to manage but now there's no easy way to know when I should pull the trigger on getting a replacement copy.

Cheers
Steve

One of the few things I don’t enjoy about Starfinder is the fact you have various ways to choose crit effects but no way to choose when they come off.

It makes the various effects “not worth it” for my players at least - and it’s exacerbated by the fact that when they do come off, there’s a decent chance the enemy is going to die anyway from the double damage and it will be moot.

Next campaign we’re going to test “trading” hit points done for the crit effect of your weapon. (We have various restrictions basically meaning you have to buy your crit effect after DR/resistances/etcetera have been applied and the enemy has to still take at least one point of damage.

We’ve thrown around the cost of doing so, and I’d be curious what people think would be good? Currently we’re looking at tying it to the tier of the weapon:

1-5 - crit effect costs 5 points of damage
6-10 - crit effect costs 10 points of damage
11-15 - crit effect costs 20 points of damage
16-20 - crit effect costs 40 points of damage

That’s about version 7 or 8. I’d be interested in what people think would be a “fair” cost. Bearing in mind it is essential that it’s easy to remember.

(Also happy to hear if you think it’s just a bad idea).

These are glorious!
One of those things I didn’t know I wanted until I saw them and they’ve immediately become essential. :)

I realise they’re especially well suited to different levels of a dungeon but I really hope they continue in other adventure paths. Such a great little reminder for the DM when running different sections of a module.

I appreciate it’s a tiny part of an adventure which is equally glorious throughout, but I really wanted to call out that specific innovation. (I suppose it could easily have appeared elsewhere first, but this is where I noticed it for the first time and it was a fantastic discovery).

A heartfelt thanks to whoever came up with this idea!

Hi Paizo CS folks

A couple of months back, I noticed an errata listing on the Starfinder FAQ page for the first printing of the Character Operations Manual and presumed (without checking or asking around at all!) that this meant a second printing had been launched.

Based on that, I ordered another copy to get the updated version, but it has just arrived and is actually a first printing. May I ask if that’s as expected? I had understood that once a second printing goes live that every copy (barring non-mint) bought from Paizo direct should be a second printing. Furthermore, that you don’t publish errata documents pertaining to specific printings until the second printings are available.

I definitely didnt check or get told that I’d be sent a second printing, so it may well just be a me issue...however, if I should have got a second printing and something has gone awry, is there any chance I could organise exchanging my now redundant third copy of the first printing for a second printing?

Hope that’s clear. Nothing urgent, but I would like to understand what the general rule is, just in case something has changed.

Cheers
Steve

As per the most recent update, they've got the email queue down to 1775 and two and a half months. Issues raised on the forums are generally getting resolved in the usual "just a couple of business days" timeframe. In addition, they're remaining as calm, professional and helpful as ever - whilst not having access to the phonelines (usually the best method of resolving time-critical issues). And it's been during a time of rapid staff turnover as old faces move on and new people join the team.

There's obviously still a monumental task ahead of them, but it wasn't so long ago it was three a half thousand emails to answer resulting in four months delay!

All in all, I think you folks are doing a phenomenal job.

If you look at your account or your subscriptions page, does it show last item shipped as being the previous item in the subscription line and the next item due to be shipped being next month's release - with no mention of the product which until recently appeared to be imminent?

This is an unfortunate but common glitch with the way our subscriptions are displayed. It's pretty much been that way since I first subscribed back in 2008 and has caused me any number of worries. Unfortunately, it seems pretty deeply embedded in the way the subscription software works.

My way of thinking of it (probably not technically correct, but kinda sorta right) is that the software gets ready to ship this month's subscriptions.

The first thing it does it to delete those items from the "upcoming items" list, moving the next month's releases up.

The second thing it does is to begin an authorisation process (which takes a couple of days usually and up to a week occasionally) to let all of us know what is about to happen (our orders still aren't generated at this stage)

The third thing it does is to start generating pending orders. This is in a cryptic, pseudo-random order. Sometimes you'll be early, sometimes late. Your credit card will be "pinged" and an authorisation taken, but no funds removed. (our orders still don't always show as having been sent yet).

The fourth thing it does is to actually start shipping the orders. This isn't in the same order as the authorisations were done, so you may be authorised first and then shipped last.

The fifth thing it does is to update your "my account" page to show that this month's products were the most recent item you received.

The long and the short of it is that if you sign up for a new product line, it can trundle along all looking like you're about to receive a shiny new book....then suddenly it says "the next thing you're going to get is book two" with no mention of your book one order.

Unfortunately, we can sit in this limbo state for a couple of weeks. Ultimately the "My Subscriptions" page is not terribly accurate or reliable.

The best information about an upcoming month's subscription can be found stickied to the top of the Customer Service Forum (you might need to view it "unfocussed" if you can't see them). I don't generally get alarmed until the day has come and gone when they expect to finish up shipping.

I’ve started to see the first case of SF Battles show up around the place. Any chance you’re able to provide details as to when that is likely to release and when (if?) we’ll be able to subscribe?

I guess there’s no real rush, but if I’m not going to be able to subscribe here I want to get onto another site before they sell out their preorders.

Thanks!

Hi Paizo CS people

I recently placed an order for some non mint copies of the Starfinder Player Character Folio and although everything might be fine, I’m worried things might be screwy.

I ordered five of them and the order went through to my sidecart, but it now shows as unavailable - which is what it generally looks like when I order the last copy.

My worry is that it seems unlikely I happened to guess how many non-mint copies were left and maybe there were only 4,3,2 or even 1 still in stock. I figure if that’s the case, when my next subscription order spawns, the computer might spin its wheels for a while looking for items that have been ‘put aside’ but which never actually existed.

Would it be possible to bundle up these five folios (if they actually exist) and to ship them straight away? (Separate from any subscription order).

If so, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Cheers
Steve

Hi Paizo CS people

If it's not too late, is there any chance of amending the shipping method for the above pending order to USPS Priority Mail?

I'm finding the slower methods are taking three or four months to get down here, so I've changed my subscription method to USPS priority for the time being to see if that helps.

If changing this is too late, it's no big deal. I just figure I may well not see these until January and there's a couple of items there I'd rather have sooner than that.

Cheers
Steve

From time to time, you see people post about a PDF being too big, having poor resolution, etcetera

In cases like that, it may well not be a customer service issue (and given this forum is absolutely inundated at the moment, perhaps it would lead to a quicker resolution if you direct your query elsewhere).

The website feedback forum is broader than it sounds, and is monitored by the IT team. If you have an issue with a PDF you can download successfully but has issues, it might be worth posting about it there in the first instance. Posting it here means CS have to look at it and then pass it on to the tech team for potential resolution.

If your problem is that you can’t buy it (or you have bought it but it’s not showing up) then this is the correct forum.

The coming and going of Gencon means it must be about time for another shoutout to the Customer Service team. They got a small boost to their number in time for second edition's launch, then along came COVID, work-from-home, the closure of RPG distribution networks, the lack of conventions no doubt driving more customer orders from new people and then a massive Humble Bundle right as they got to nearly two and a half thousand emails! In the face of all of that, they remain courteous, charming, efficient and helpful.

I know I've said it before, but you folks are one of the main reasons I'm a customer here. I do barely any ordering online, but I have more confidence that you will all look out for me if something goes awry than I do shopping anywhere else. No doubt going to work, slaving away and seeing hundreds of concerned emails/forum posts continually rolling in can seem exhausting. Your work and dedication is greatly appreciated!

Fingers crossed that email backlog begins to decline and that we'll soon see another expansion of the CS team - you each deserve a medal. <3

Hi Paizo CS people

I wonder if you might look into the above order for me?

It shipped via mail innovations international in two packages (I have my subs set to ship, cheap as possible at the moment) and the total shipping charge was $152, which seems excessive for non-express shipping.

I appreciate it was a nig month, but it wasn’t that big! :)
Any light you can shed would be appreciated.

Cheers
Steve

No doubt troublesome to do quickly, but I wonder if it would be good in that forum if when you "submit" a new thread it asked you to characterize the query via a checkbox (obviously these are just off-the-cuff, illustrative suggestions, CS would know the best categories):

1. Money has left my account incorrectly
2. I have placed an order I want changed
3. My subscription for this month has an issue
4. A previous order has some issue
5. Can't place an order
.
.
.
6. General query about how things work

It might then help CS to prioritize and cut down on snarkiness. I wonder if you could also implement an auto-lock on the thread (other than CS and the OP) for everything other than the last category to stop helpful community members inadvertently delaying resolutions (or deliberately delaying things to "make a point").

I’m putting this here under the “why a rule does or doesn’t exist” clause of this forum’s description, not in houserules (it’s easily solved via houserules, I’m curious on the meta-theory behind this).

The Defend exploration activity gives you the benefit of having raised your shield at the start of an encounter. It makes no mention of being usable with weapons with the parry trait (like a main gauche, for example) which are similar to a shield in that if you interact with a parry weapon (in lieu of raising a shield) you get a bonus to AC until your next turn.

Do you think that omission is just an oversight? Is there some balance reason for it? Is there some horrifically overpowered combination that might result if the Defend activity had been broader?

Hi Paizo CS people

Now that July subs have authorised, would you please cancel my PF Rulebook subscription (the regular one, I’d like to retain the special edition sub) and my PF Battles subscription?

For feedback purposes:

I’m going to use the special edition rulebooks going forward, so don’t need the regular sub.

I’m no longer prepared to subsidise the production of setting pieces. I was fine carrying the subscription for a while while they tried it out, but I believe these should be separate from the line of monsters. If WizKids go back to producing exclusively creature-based sets and split the scenery into its own product line, then I will pick up a subscription once more.

Thanks, as ever for your stellar work, particularly over the last six months. It must be tough!
Steve

Do we have to salute you now?

When does the target get a save?
When does it take damage?
Is there an "overall save" or is it automatically affected and then must save every round for half and to move?
Is the spell lost if the caster takes damage midcasting (via opportunity attack)?
Is the spell lost if the caster takes damage in later rounds?

Imagine the caster and their ally are fighting, the caster is up and casts psychokinetic strangulation on the Boss the turn order goes something like:

1. Caster
2. Minion
3. Boss
4. Ally

The caster casts their spell. (Saves? Damage? Condition applied?)
The minion attacks the caster (does doing damage disrupt the ongoing concentration?)
The boss has their turn (do they get another save? is this their first save?)
The ally goes
The caster's next turn happens...

Anyone willing to go through explicit, gory detail would be greatly appreciated!
(EDIT: explicit gory detail of the game mechanics, not the strangulation..)

Hi Paizo tech people

There's been a longstanding bug on the forum that I was never really able to reliably replicate but which tended to come up if you editted a post multiple times (there were other, random occurrences also).

My impression is that it has been occurring far more often in recent weeks - sometimes, I log on an the first thing I do is navigate straight to my account - private messages and if I try to open a new message it occurs immediately.

The error message is "The requested URL was not found on this server, or you do not have permission to access this area".

It can also occur when adding multiple items to my shopping cart from all over the site, when I then proceed to try and checkout.

I can't really measure for sure if it's getting worse, but it definitely seems to me to have been much more prevalent since sometime in April/Early May.

Steve

Hi Paizo Tech team (I'm guessing this goes here, since I'm expecting this to turn out to be a computer-setting glitch)

My current, regular subscription shows the Advanced Player's Guide as next up with Bestiary 2 as being "most recently shipped". However, the Special Edition Subscription just shows the Bestiary 2 as most recent but doesn't say what's coming next.

I have been assuming that there'd be a special edition of every book in the regular rulebook line but realised that perhaps I've never seen that stated anywhere.

Is the omission above just a glitch? Or is there not going to be a special edition of the Advanced Player's Guide?

Cheers
Steve

There are often threads posted with questions we’ve seen before (and often experienced ourselves). Given we know Paizo CS are awesome but absolutely snowed under at the moment, it can seem like a good idea to help out the newcomer by explaining what the issue is and how it’s likely to be resolved.

Newcomers will often post in someone else’s thread also to report they are having a similar issue (or just to commiserate!)

The trouble is that the CS team review posts from oldest to newest (as a general rule) so when you post your entirely accurate and helpful reply, it has the effect of moving the original question to the top of the forum and therefore back to “last place” in the queue of issues to be resolved.

Similarly, if a post about extra shipping, multiple charges, no PDFs or anything else is “bumped” by others reporting that they too were incorrectly charged then everyone in that thread will be shuffled back to have to begin waiting again.

If you fear your thread has been missed, the best thing to do is to start a new thread referencing your first asking to check that it is being looked into. To post a link to an old thread, you can use the following code:

(url=www.whatever)Type what you want the link to look like(/url) but using square brackets instead of round brackets.

So a link to this post shows like this (hit reply to see the exact formatting):

A self-referential link to this post.

Hi Paizo

I've seen a lot of glitchiness with the B2 Special Edition. On May 7th I got an email in which everything looked fine (no charge for the PDF and one subscriber copy of the Special Edition plus one subscriber copy of the regular edition).

Then May 12th I got a second email showing two copies of the Special Edition being included (and both a higher charge, plus a higher shipping charge).

However, my order history shows that one of the special editions was cancelled today.

Maybe this is all just me seeing stuff as you reshuffle behind the scenes, but just in case - I'd like one copy each of the regular and the special edition versions of the Bestiary 2.

That's how my order history looks and how the first email showed it, however my most recent email from you (and the pending charge on my credit card) appear to be including a redundant copy of the special edition.

Hope that makes sense.
Steve

Seems fine to me, but I couldn't find it in the rules (which doesn't matter to me).

Hi Paizo CS folks

My march subscription order: #15870268

Was shipped on the 25th of March I think, but has yet to arrive here. Is that something I should be worried about? Is it just Corona-virus-ey delays? (Am I maybe still in the expected window of shipping? It feels long...

I wondered if you'd be able to look into the shipping system for me and see if it's still doing what it's supposed to be doing?

I'm REALLY keen to read the second instalment of the Threefold Conspiracy.

Thanks!
Steve

It's hardly an essential thing, but it does seem to me to be something that "should" be easy to organise via phone companies(?)

I have some customer service issues I tend to resolve via email, some via forum and some (few) via phone. Obviously, phones haven't been working for a little while and I wondered if there was any plan to divert them (maybe for some restricted window like "four hours a day, Tuesday through Thursday" or something)?

As I say - clearly not the biggest issue facing the world today, but maybe one that's addressable (?)

Does anyone know if there’s a business that will buy, paint and ship a miniature for you?

(I guess the buying doesn’t matter - I can post them to someone).

Hi Paizo CS people

The above order (my March order) spawned and seems to only be charging me shipping for two of the three packages.

Those two are showing as "standard shipping" whereas the AA3 pawns are in their own order marked "UPS Ground" which I suspect is wrong.

Irrespective - $12 less $10 discount is a pretty cheap deal for an international order. I think something is up!

Hi Paizo powers that be

Any chance we could implement a tip jar? To be pooled and distributed to staff at the years end or something? It seems like a pretty common feature of webstores so is presumably both easy and legal (?)

I’ve been involved in a shadow arms race with the tech team over the years trying to find sneaky ways to overpay. So far I’m ahead of them (they haven’t found my latest loophole!) but I have a feeling they’re smarter than me and it’s only a matter of time...

Troy's closing monologue is my favorite moment of the AP so far. I think he did such a stellar job.

This whole series of play for the last few episodes has been remarkable DMing, in my opinion. Things are going a little screwy plus there's the problem this book always faced (of book 4 ending with a massive dungeon crawl, leading into....book 5 being an even bigger dungeon crawl).

Troy and the players have done a great job of keeping the story interesting, in my opinion. I really like the tension in 241, the twist in 242 and now the resolution (such as it is). Can't wait for next week's episode!

Hi Paizo tech people.

Not sure how easy it is to add, but I spend a fair bit of time on the order history page and I wondered if it would be possible to include a (downloaded) flag next to those completed orders which have also been subsequently downloaded?

I find the my downloads page terribly frustrating to use properly and because I hardly ever use PDFs I do sometimes miss the opportunity to download things when they’re at the top of that queue. If I got a little reminder for the period digital products were in my last 25vorders, it would be useful, I think.

Cheers
Steve

Hi Paizo people

My november subscription has spawned and been split into five packages.

I realise that is sometimes the best solution, but it is somewhat unusual down here. Would you mind looking into it for me just to be sure it actually is the cheapest method?

Thanks
Steve

Hi Tech team

I'm not sure if this is an actual issue, but I just downloaded the Scoured Stars Invasion and would expect to have got a 15% discount.

The discount doesn't mean much to me, but I figured it might point to a bigger problem. Is that worth looking into? Or is there maybe an exception for the big "end of season" scenarios?

Cheers
Steve

Hi Paizo people

I'm not really sure what is supposed to happen, but it looks like the discounts on my subscription order might be being messed up (?)

I am being granted 30% off the PF Adventure Path instalment which seems to be higher than it should be. (The others are all 15% off, as expected except for the PFBattles item which is 30%).

If you wouldn't mind looking into that for me, I'd appreciate it. Is the 30% maybe something to do with the legacy discount? It's entirely possible I've got hold of the wrong end of the stick. :)

Cheers
Steve

Hi Paizo people

I recently re-added the SF accessories subscription but wasnt given a choice of which item I wanted to start with.

Consequently, the system has spawned with the tech terrain pawns but I wanted to begin with the next item (deck of many worlds, I think).

Can you please remove the pawns from this order but leave the subscription in place?

Cheers
Steve

Is it spelled out somewhere? (Or is it impossible, in principle?)

Point of order, that's the Second Republic of Haven. Based on the comments of Theisman and Pritchard the First Replublic was probably similar. The People's Republic of Haven is more People's Republic of China with a little North Korea until the Revolution and then it's a pastiche of the First French Republic.

Well there is, as stated, Andoran. It's a true republic.

Andoran is rapidly becoming a republic in name only,as the old families are recreating an ogliarchal society. That's the problem with republics, as it happened and Greece and Rome, they're fragile constucts at best.

Citation?

Because that doesn't match with anything I've read. Certainly the old families want that and the Lumber Consortium is getting away with murder due to pragmatic naval concerns, but those are more conflicts for PCs to overcome than the Republic disintegrating.

On the literary side Steven Brust's Dragaera series has the Empire becoming the Republic when house Tekla (the peasants) ascends to the top of the Cycle.

There's also strong indication that the objectively 'correct' form of government in his universe is a left leaning social democracy, but Dragaera isn't ready to go back to that (the world is somewhat old school in that it's fantasy on top of science fiction).

We'll see, but from what they've said they made the main character too high a rank. If they want to tell a story of someone growing up an learning about themselves and to work with others you should not use a department head. That's what ensigns or midshipmen are for.

About the only way to lose your license in the state is to kill someone with a vehicle.

That explains so much about NJ drivers... ;)

Good luck getting an I.D. with those hours.

In Nashua, for most of the time I've lived here, you had to go to Merrimack (a neighboring town) for your driver's license, as Nashua (a town of 86,000 people) didn't have it's own DMV.

If you didn't have reliable transportation (I took the bus or walked everywhere), it was pretty much a non-starter. Elderly, without a personal chauffer to run you over there? No DMV for you.

It's finally improved, and you can now get your license renewed in town, but Nashua's the second-largest town in the state, so it always seemed weird to me.

This is the general problem with tying a right (voting) to infrastructure intended to support a privilege (driving).

Voter fraud is a non-issue. It does not happen in numbers distinguishable from background noise.

All of your purging the rolls stuff will hurt far more people than it will prevent from fraudulently voting.

If you want to increase the quality of the elections, focus on election fraud. Things like caging, fraudulent roll purge, not putting enough voting machines in polling locations, etc.

Voter fraud is a myth, it doesn't exist enough to warrant action.

Can't agree with this one despite hearing it a lot. People are paid to get voters to the voting both. Some people are going to take advantage of the situation to get paid, just like tax fraud by identity theft, only easier. Proof of voter registration by ID to prevent fraud is required by almost every EU member, for example.

Now, discrimination is evil, and requiring proof the voter is a voter absolutely shouldn't be done in a discrimatory fashion. But claiming voter fraud doesn't exist only serves to disenfranchise voters.

Except for the fact theres absolutely no evidence of in person voter fraud in any meaningful fashion. There have been something like 31 suspected cases of it over the past fifty years.

On the other hand, we have lots of evidence that the whole voter ID thing is a red herring used to suppress voter turnout.

As an aside, while some aspects of the magical girl and magical girlfriend are Japanese, the primary inspiration for them was Bewitched which was stupidlystupidly popular in Japan.

No, ABC and NBC and Fox and CWs streaming service is called Hulu. Which has far fewer ds and way more content. PBS has lots of stuff on Hulu, but also run their own setvices, one completely free and one that is a benefit to donors.

CBS is not poised for anything, They're trying to create their own version of Hulu, and failing miserably.

And right now, the glass ceiling is even lower at just getting a solo superheroine movie.

And yes, the CGI in that trailer is shockingly bad.

Even so, I'll definitely check this out.

That's why I think CBS is epically failing on this. All of their marketing needs to be a complete and total hypefest because it needs to justify spending $6 a month to watch the show on a service with commercials. And not like one or two every ten or twenty miutes like Hulu, but five or six every five to ten minutes like broadcast TV.

This trailer seeks to have been met with complete disinterest to dislike which would be bad for a series on broadcast, but there is no way this will make anyone but the super hard core trekkie subscribe, and they would anyway.
