Fade looks gratefully at Franki and scowls at Akash! Fade move to be beside the beast and keeps a hand on the creature to try and keep it calm. Even though the group is moving a bit slower than usual, she feels saving the cat is something she must do. "I am sorry for this delay, but the ancestors have demanded that this creature be returned to health. It will only be until tonight, then I can properly care for the beast."
Fade ignores all the talk around her and continues to concentrate on the wounded beast. It just was not your time is all, she thinks as she bandages a poultice to the cat's wounds. The ancestors have given me the power to save you...who am I to question that! Aloud she says, "The beast will survive, but will be weak and unable to care for itself. We will take it with us until it is well enough to return to the wild. So spoke the ancestors!" She looks at the party to see if they will argue the point.
Fade moves towards the sleeping creatures and ensures that they will awaken no more. She says a short prayer to the Ancestors to forgive her for taking the life but not the flesh of these creatures. She then goes over to the large cat to see if there is anything she might be able to do (if it is still alive).
Moving slightly forward to get a better view of the scene, Fade decides to try and cut down on the number of enemies by magically sleeping the furthest two creatures from the party. Placed a circle around the two creatures she is targetting...I think the circle is a 10 radius...if she can fir more, all the better!!
Fade steps forward next, with a slight smile towards Iyemba and Yama, and introduces herself to the others. "I am Fade from the Spirit Cat Clan to the north. Until recently I was just another clanswoman until I was chosen by the Ancestors to take up the mantel of The Maiden. I look forward to this challenge and working with all of you!" I see the tribe as made up of several different clans, so that is why she announced her clan allegiance so all would know which clan she was part of...hope that is ok??
Fade wanders over to where the Crone and Mother are waiting. The stranger, Gnarok, is speaking with Iyemba, so she waits until he is finished. Once he leaves, she approaches her "sisters". "It is time for my trials to begin...I hope I bring honor upon our clan and tribe!" "If no, then you will most likely be dead!", Iyemba, the Crone says. "Come come now Iyemba! No need for such negativity! Fade will do well and will take her place with us as the new Maiden. So let's offer her our sincerest best wishes and blessings." Yama, the Mother was always so positive and happy...her faith almost brought tears to Fade's eyes. With a hug and silent thanks, Fade leaves her "sisters" and goes to join the others taking the rite this year.
Fade is awake well before the sun begins its long journey across the sky. Like every morning she is there to greet the sun and say the prayers to the Tribes ancestors. It had been thus for the last 6 years...ever since that day she was chosen to be the new Maiden. Out of all the clans in the Tribe, she had been the one who had the dream...the dream that brought Oster to her.
She gathered up her materials and, feeling a job well done, treated herself (and Oster) to a tiny bit of salted deer meat as they returned to the Fire.
Glad to be here!! Had to switch my profile pic...I had chosen the same as Fanki...and unless we were twins...lol Anyway, I pictured Fade as part of what many cultures call the "woman's circle" I further decided to make that circle with 3 main "leaders" known ritually as the Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone. (and yes I cribbed this off of Terry Prachet lol) Not too sure if this fits our clan or not, but thought I would throw it out there...
Orsin looked out over the moors of the Setha Heath, trying to keep his emotions in check. The bodies of the two Pagaelin tribesmen that he had tracked from the edge of the Shava Forest lay in the dry, waving grass at his feet. One had died quickly with an arrow through the throat, while the other had lived just long enough to give him the bad news! That news would now send him into the Kingdom of Kaldor and the town of Kobing. Travelling north and east, Orsin finds the Genin Trail and follows it to the Oselbridge. Speaking to the guards stationed there, he gained more information on his quarry and continued along the road to Kobing. Once in the town, he realized his prey had not stayed at all and had simply resupplied and moved on. If he was quick he might catch him before he reached the larger town of Qualdris. Now months since he started down this road, he has finally caught up with the man who murdered his father. The items he stole from his father would soon be back in his position, and then he could return home and properly grieve his elder's death. |
