*In addition to the spells gained by oracles as they gain levels, each oracle also adds all of either the cure spells or the inflict spells to her list of spells known. These spells are added as soon as the oracle is capable of casting them. (Cure spells were chosen for Evelyn.) Mystery: Life
Life Link (Su): As a standard action, you may create a bond between yourself and another creature. Each round at the start of your turn, if the bonded creature is wounded for 5 or more hit points below its maximum hit points, it heals 5 hit points and you take 5 hit points of damage. You may have one bond active per oracle level. This bond continues until the bonded creature dies, you die, the distance between you and the other creature exceeds medium range, or you end it as an immediate action (if you have multiple bonds active, you may end as many as you want as part of the same immediate action). Safe Curing (Su): Whenever you cast a spell that cures the target of hit point damage, you do not provoke attacks of opportunity for spellcasting. Curse: Tongues
Background:
As a child of age four, Evelyn was kidnapped from her village by evil fey from the nearby woods. No one knew what these fey were up to with the little girl, and a search party went after them. Posters with a sketch of Evelyn’s face, including a description listing details like her blond hair and green eyes, were spread over the nearby villages. After searching for over a month not a single trace of Evelyn or her captors had been found. Thus most people gave up the search.
Evelyn's father, George, never gave up the search for his daughter. His wife had died giving birth to Evelyn, and the little girl was all he had left in life. So he didn’t stop after a month, and not after two months either. He didn’t stop when summer had passed, and not even when several more summers did. Despite knowing that Evelyn was probably dead, George’s heart told him to continue his search. His heart told him Evelyn was still alive, somewhere. Near the village lived a tribe of goblins. These goblins were a constant bother to the villagers, but never posed much of a threat. Seven years after Evelyn had been kidnapped, George headed into the forest. He went to explore a part of the forest explored earlier years earlier. It was a place where no fey lived, but rumor had it fey were sighted there. Instead of fey, George encountered a small party of goblins. The goblins attacked him, robbed him of his possessions, and left the bleeding George for dead. While the goblins’ eerie victory song was still audible in the distance, a gentle hand touched George’s shoulder. A young girl with white hair and soft green eyes stared at him when he turned his head. The girl’s hand moved to the wound in George’s chest, where one of the goblins had stabbed him in between his ribs. A green glow, as soft as the girl’s eyes, emitted from her hand. As George’s wound slowly healed, it dawned onto him who the girl was. The color had disappeared from her hair, but the girl’s eyes were unmistakably his daughter’s. George couldn’t help but cry, and hugged his daughter. All Evelyn did was stare at him with blank eyes, even when George made it clear he wanted to take Evelyn back to the village. Panic struck George when Evelyn just continued to stand there. He figured she had to be under some sort of spell. So he picked her up, and ran back to the village with her. When George arrived at the village, the news about Evelyn spread rapidly. The village’s priest, a cleric of Desna, immediately came to aid. After examining Evelyn, the cleric informed George that his daughter was enchanted by a fey spell. With the magic bestowed upon him by Desna, the priest was able to dispel the fey magic. In the years that followed Evelyn lived with her father. She repaid Desna by working at her temple, and showed a great aptitude for learning healing magic. It never became clear what had the fey had done to Evelyn, but it was evident they’d changed her somehow. Evelyn’s hair never returned to its original color, and whenever she hurt herself Evelyn’s wounds healed extraordinarily fast. In times of stress Evelyn couldn’t speak normally, only able to speak a language the priest that once cured her recognized as Aklo: a language spoken by various creatures, including evil fey. At age twenty-two Evelyn decided to go to Sandpoint. Though Desna was by far her favorite goddess, Evelyn was also very interested to learn more about other gods and goddesses. She’d heard that the town of Sandpoint recently completed a cathedral dedicated to the six deities most popular in the area. Evelyn decided she had to see the place for yourself, and traveled to Sandpoint. While at the cathedral Evelyn met a party of adventurers. They appeared to be in need of a healer. Evelyn decided to join the party, figuring she’d put her talent to good use. Personality:
Evelyn's a kind person who likes to help others, especially when it involves healing them. However, due to being kidnapped as a child, Evelyn often believes that someone or something is out to get her. As a result she has a hard time truly trusting anyone, and anyone who attempts to aid Evelyn with any type of assist makes her feel awkward.
During stressful situations Evelyn is unable to speak Common, strangely falling back on the language the evil fey that kidnapped her used. When she's not stressed Evelyn's also able to understand and speak this language, but she prefers not to. Appearance:
At 5'3" (160 cm), Evelyn's a bit short compares to the average human woman. She weights 135 lbs. (61.2 kg), which gives her an average posture. Evelyn has soft green eyes. She usually ties her long, white hair in a ponytail, for which she uses a red ribbon.
Evelyn wears a red and blue long-sleeved shirt with some yellow on the borders. She wears a red skirt with yellow borders that reaches to her knees, with a sturdy light brown belt as an accessory. Evelyn also wears high leather boots, which are light brown. The cloak Evelyn wears for storing items and protection against the weather is light brown as well. |
