At first I missed Willow offering to GM.
I am fine with either, but both potential GMs are from group 2. How does that work if they both want to dmpc their characters?
I say give him at least another week. That is two weeks total. Ample time in case of life crisis. I am fine with a large group. Maybe instead of orcs, we find dead orcs, and both parties. One entered a half hour before, on the same mission, and just have not left the room yet? Maybe the two of you can swap DMing duties as desired?

I understand life gets in the way though. If he is okay & has internet access but has to bow out of running this game, I understand. A courtesy say-so would be nice so we're not wasting our time. Some disappointment, sure,but no hard feelings.
Seems our GM has only posted as this alias for the WLD game (grouos 1 & 2), with no other posts in the forums at all. That is a little disconcerting. How about we give him 2 weeks to show in case of a life emergency, and if not we start advertising for a new GM to run this for us (slim as the odds are)?
Evandrik feels like an eternity passes in the space of a moment. Adrenaline courses as the uncertainty solidifies into a course of action. Will the orcs lose spirit? Get lucky and end our quest before it starts? Die needlessly over Kowus' words? Such thoughts flood Evandrik's mind in a flash, and are instantly gone, replaced by the calm of battle and the resolve of protecting Thalrik.

Good luck. :) So, group 1 has been following our thread. I just skimmed theirs to see if there was as much party conflict. They have more cohesion but we have less typos. :)
Ha! Started skimming your group's progress, to see if there was as much party conflict. Looks like we've already been spied on. :) We all should be careful not to read too far ahead of where we are with our own grouos-the meta knowledge could affect our decisions. I am excited to see which of our parties fare better, though. I hear it is a killer dungeon.

I'll be offline until tonight around 8pm central. If his actions are needed before then, Evandrik defends Thalrik unless the others are getting mauled, then he moves in to melee. Hehopes to keep at least one alive for questioning. Then check for other doors. Then sort through the rations to see what is usable.
Evandrik smiles when they reach for their weapons, and he surges forward to stop them with his massive axe. Try to keep one alive!

The clubs are free, can be thrown like a dagger, are bludgeoning damage, and can be ysed for noncombat. Like improv grappling hook, deadfall trap props, mortar & pestle (just need a bowl), tire thumper... :)

I downsized my crossbow from heavy to light and picked up a dagger, 4 clubs, a heavy wood shield, and some more rations. Ready for peril!
GM: My only concern is a metagame concern I should've asked in the recruitment thread: how viable is my favored enemy choice (undead)?
Evandrik takes up a protective stance near Thalrik while the cleric explores the room they have entered.
Kowus may have beat me in, but it did seem he took a round or two switching weapons and whatnot.
Oh no you don't, little brother! Evandrik retorts, and rushes through the door, grabbing the satchels of notes on the way. Stout! You coming? I'll likely need a healer. And Evandrik disappears into the blackness. Once through the door Evandrik says in a loud whisper We do this together like always. Smart but addled, you can always get another pet. He turns to Kowus and whispers, and you can always get more rope. he chuckles.
I probably should have made that Evandrik's thoughts and not narrative. Evandrik would see it as foolish to wantonly send your familiar into a strange portal. As a player I see your familiar as a useful resource (and an achilles heel for the witch!).

GM and Thalrik:
Read the spoiler out of curiosity since the two chara ters are close. I will not in future if desired. Does the spell not function as written? Number of auras, location, strength, schools, etc? Evandrik lets out a low whistle. I'll be a goblin's uncle... Any of you seen the like before? No one go in 'til we know what we're dealing with. Could be a trap. A portal. A shadowy ooze. Who knows. Evandrik takes a few steps away and to the side, and lets the mages inspect it. He has his mighty axe hefted across his shoulder, waiting.
The tracks lead north. This odd lever opens it by moving gears. I can't find any traps, but I've also never seen its like. But no signs of dead orcs...so...
to Kowus if trail is lost:

Perception Evandrik does not complain of the cramped tunnel, and smiles to himself at the sight of the ancient room. He waits for the rest, and suggests this room be searched before they head haphazardly through random doors.
I was just foreshadowing, in character, the metagame decision for any players that put a rank in Linguistics for Celestial.
Thalrik, if you're up to the task, and enough of us survive, how 'bout teachin some of us the basics of Celestial? Could prove useful in such a place.

Evandrik puts his bulk in front of Gyness before he enters the cave. Must've been nice growing up cloistered. Religion all round you. Easy t'believe in gods. My brother likely has as many miracles up his sleeve as you. He studied, you prayed. My mother was a sorceress. Not sure where she got her powers. Not sure about Willow either. The forest druids got theirs from nature. It doesn't matter if she believes in your god. You have power. That is enough, and she knows that. Children and elders deserve our respect...and patience. Welcome to the real world. But grow up quickly if you wish to survive. I'd suggest apologizing for your personal attacks, but I am sure she's endured worse in her time. Your job is to be above it all. Be better. Keep your faith. Honestly, I've little love for gods or devils myself. Their followers are what matter, not them. With that he lets the priest pass.
