Well, I don't know what to say... I just saw the front page of Paizo.com by accident (I usually just get RSS feeds now, which rock btw) and read the sad news.
I've been playing DnD for the last 25 years like a lot of you guys and I've been a subscriber to both Dungeon and Dragon magazine for at least 10 years if not more. I'm confused as to why Wizard would stop publishing out of band material for DnD (out of their stock offering) it makes sense to have an alternative creative outlet for people that don't want to buy full products to subscribe too. It's also bizarre that they terminated their contract with CodeMonkeyPublishing for any kind of data creation on eTools. It's like they are closing down all external partners. What's going to be the alternative...?
We'll see in the coming months i'm sure, I'm planning to go to GenCon this year for the first time ever and with all those weird occurence I hope it won't sour the mood...
Paizo, I'm honored to have been a subscriber, you are a class act on every front, your customer service is great (I had a few issues that didn't make it an got reshipped promptly) your tenure of the magazines have propelled them to greatness on every front the adventure and article quality have always been top notch, the adventure path ideas have been awesome, and for this reason i'm switching my credit to Pathfinder.
I wish you great luck for the future and will continue my patronage with you in the future.
Cheers,
ET a happy and sad subscriber...

Hi Scott:
I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Paizo would like to replace the Age of Worms Dungeon issues that you lost, and I think we can find copies of the Faerun map for you also. Send me an email at lisa@paizo.com and I will get those sent out to you right away. Hopefully the rest of the stuff will be replaced in time.

And that pretty much sums up Paizo as a company...
They definatley appreciate their customers! Wow I second that! Guys you Rock!
You could also roll all the side battles in advance (before the session), like a round by round breakdown. then you'll know that in round 1 something happends, then round 2 something else, etc.
They you can describe the side battle while you dealing with the PC one. You should know in advance (like the previous poster said) who the "bad guys" are so it shouldn't be too complicated to do this.
Just a tought.

Erik this is very cool news can't wait to see it!!!
check out Erik's comments here.
Snippet: "he's just turned in one of his most incredible paintings ever for the final installment of the Age of Worms Adventure Path"
Way Cool!!!
So Ian, I'm with you, I made Diamond lake a little off the map town just south-est Daggerford that way I didn't have to change much, specifically the names and all that. The Lizard Marsh is still the focus of EBK and most of the change Erik suggest are all good. I didn't even change the Aaqa and all and the Rod and queen of chaos although these are Greyhawk mythos we aren't supper Realms freak that we need to not have those. So I don't mind using the Greyhawk stuff in FR.
Thanks Erik for clearing up the Jergal/Kuyss conondrum ;-). My NPC's have been praising and claiming high the return of Kyuss and his worms so i'll just keep doing this. I really like your note and secondary vision in for the SOLS supplement. So Jergal is there but as a possible uber god once the PCs defeat Kyuss in the last AOW adventure, could spawn some cool Epic stuff. So question does Jergal even remember doing what he did or will it all come together to him in the last adventure? or not at all?
Cheers,
ET

Eric Boyd wrote: Ian Ford wrote: So, anyone had issues with the translation to Forgotten Realms? I'm still a little confused about the whole origin story -- does the FR version still use Kyuss or does Jergal (Lord of the End of Everything) replace him? Jergal is in addition to Kyuss. Jergal does replace Kyuss. In effect, Kyuss is Jergal's puppet, manipulated by a plot set in motion aeons ago.
So Erik I don't want to sound picky but I'm not sure I'm less confused here you say Eric Boyd wrote: Jergal is in addition to Kyuss. Jergal does replace Kyuss. I those two phrase you say he's in addition but actually replaces Kyuss so which is it. I'm a but confused on the plotline as well. My players are currently in 3FoE and I'm getting them all pump up on Kyuss and him coming with the age of worm and all that, but I remember reading in the various supplements and AOW overload about Jergal being the one pulling the strings so is Kyuss the one coming back or will it be actually Jergal... In the Overload it states Kyuss comes out of the monolith in Alhaster I think so will we replace all this with Jergal? Thanks for lurking and answering all these pesky questions Erik.

Man I'd love to be a player in your game. I've been dm'ing for the last 25 years and long to play sometimes and hearing this kind of descriptiong is just ... well ... cool.
Great work Rexx.

I think the encounter is a CR3 IIRC. The hexorites are CR1/3 same a skeletons, since the encounter with the skeleton is also a CR3 encounter and there are 8 skeletons, I would put around 8 cultist... my .02c

My party just finished WC and are starting 3FoE. The party fighter got them to not kill Filge even though the party sorcerer (having struck a deal with Kullen to bring back the head) wanted to decapite him after the battle. They got all the info from Filge about the cult and all in my best NPC rendition ever (IMHO) of a rambling Filge going crazy an proclaiming the Age of Worms (warm memories here). So not wanting to kill a unarmed and (going crazy) guy they knocked him out and were about to bring it to the constable (they knocked on the door and he answered) when the made a 180 thinking that the constable would let Filge go knowing he was a friend of Smenk.
So they hauwled him back to Alustan who said "he would take care of it".
After finishing up WC they came back to Diamond Lake and were intercepted by Kullen demanding the head... not having it Kullen brought them to Smenk and sold them out to him. He requested that they produced Filge. They said they had sent him packing to Waterdeep. So Smenk requested that they go in the mine to destroy the temples or he would expose them to the local constable. They reluctently agreed (wanting to go in anyway).
Next came the rendez-vous with Alustan, when they got there they heard noise (breaking glasses) from the top of the tower, they ran to investigate only to see a cloaked figure start a fire in the study and jumping out the window with a lump on his back (Filge). Alustan had his throat cut and was bleeding to dead on his desk. They stopped the fire and rescued Alustan and one of them started chasing the Cloaked Figure on the roof.
In fact the cloaked figure is a Kenku that was sent by the faceless one to get Filge. He got a vision by Gar saying that Filge was important to resurrect the green wormed undead.
So Filge will definately come back later in 3FoE and I plan on keeping him around he is very intent in "participating" in the unfolding events of the AoW.

Sean Mahoney wrote: I was a little disappointed there were no cultish things going on in this adventure ala Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom scenes in which the overlook an actual worship session. Ya I hear you. I do think I will add that.
As to the keys, I taught I remembered reading about the key unlocking the temple of the Grimlock. My concern is more about the the party strength entering any of those temple, not really which one they should do first. Thanks for you opinion guys, I will think of how to do that. I really will add a cultish scene tough.

Hi all,
Just a quick Q. After almost finishing reading 3FoE, I left wondering how to prevent the PCs from going to the temple of Vecna first then the grimlock and finaly the Hextorites... There is really nothing preventing them from going in any of the temples when they get down in the Dark Cathedral.
I can certainly control the flow by adding keys or something else that is on the major villains that they need to vanquish in order to proceed but I was wondering how you guys plan or have managed to control the flow.

So in "Lost Empire of Faerun" the new feat "Servant of the Fallen" let's you worship and get spells from the dead gods, not only Bhaal and Myrkul but Moander and many others.
Ok guys check out my blog (which is empty save for the photo album named Dead Gods)
In the photo album you will find the symbol of Myrkul and Bhaal.
Enjoy

My mom gave me and my brother the Red box in French in '81 and that is how I started try to beat that!!
Boy you where right there at the genesis of the greatest hobby ever!! I was 8 in '77 so just a bit early for me. I'm saying that and my son (which is now 7) loves to watch up play and already has a character that I let him play in simple story with. pffeeeww man I'm old. This game bring so much enjoyment to me, my familly (yes my wife plays also) and my friends I hope we continue playing when we're 80 now that would be great
- Hey Grampa you actually used *real* dices to roll to hits
- Well yes we actually had to use our arms to swing the dices on the table not what you kids do these days just hardwarewire your brain to the net and think of rolling a d20... ahh the good old times ;-)
Cheers Eric and i'd love to play with you someday now that would be something!!

I too am running AP2 and would love to see the scans!
I can Certainly do that but I don't know were we can post them. I can't upload images here any idea?
Silver Circle wrote: Tks. any idea what their holy symbol image was??? i know bane's is clenched hand with green rays but no idea what Bhaal/myrkuls was/is Boy you got me digging now! (Tells you how long I've been playing Dungeon,
So according to the "Faith and Avatar" (2nd Edition) Bhaal's symbol is a white, face-on human skull surrounded by ta counter-clockwise orbit of many streaming teardrops
As for Myrkul his symbol is a white human skull face-on against a black field or a reaching white skeletal hand in white on a black field, (in recent years (2nd edition just before the time of trouble) either symbol usually shown on an inverted black shield with a continuous border of white, stylized human fingerbones)
I could scan them for you if you like.

Note: Just noticed that Eric actually cowrote the Faith and Avatar... wow that put's him up there as well as for how long we've been around the game
I've been playing for about 25 years now, mostly DMing

Silver Circle wrote: Im planning on running AP2 in FR, there have been posts on here and in the conversion notes about making the ebon triad worshippers of the dead three.
Eric Boyd has suggested the use of a feat that allows clerics to get spells from dead dieties.
My question is that i dont have access to the old realms books therefore i dont know what domains/holy symbols Bhall and Myrkul have as they are not covered in the 3.5 faiths and pantheons book.
Any advice or where to look/find out what i need and any more info would be great
From "Lost Empire of Faerun"
Bhaal: Death, Destruction, Evil, Retribution Portfolio: Assasination, Murder, Violence Weapon: Dagger
Myrkul: Death, Evil, Suffering, Undeath Portfolio: Corruption, the dead, death, old age Weapon: Scythe
The feat Eric was talking about is also from "Lost Empire of Faerun" and is called Servant of the fallen is essentially lets you use a death god as you worship god and 'it' grants you full access to spells (some other stuff but that is the jist of it).
From "Faith and Pantheons"
Bane: Evil, Destruction, Hatred, Law, Tyranny Portfolio: Strife, Hatred, Tyranny, Fear Weapon: "The black hand of Bane" (gantlet).

ET
