About Eriniyes

Eriniyes was once a tall beautiful woman. Although she still stands high, her beauty has been covered with the hard veneer of revenge and a life in turmoil. She is a smart and graceful woman who is rarely seen clad in any color other than a shade of red that matches the skin of her viper familiar. The snake can give the illusion of her clothes writhing and twisting around her body.

Hex Rules:
Witches learn a number of magic tricks, called hexes, that grant them powers or weaken foes. At 1st level, a witch gains one hex of her choice. She gains an additional hex at 2nd level and for every 2 levels attained after 2nd level, as noted on Table 4–1. A witch cannot select an individual hex more than once.

Unless otherwise noted, using a hex is a standard action that does not provoke an attack of opportunity. The save to resist a hex is equal to 10 + 1/2 the witch’s level + the witch’s Intelligence modifier.

Evil Eye:
Evil Eye (Su): The witch can cause doubt to creep into the mind of a foe within 30 feet that she can see. The target takes a –2 penalty on one of the following (witch’s choice): AC, ability checks, attack rolls, saving throws, or skill checks. This hex lasts for a number of rounds equal to 3 + the witch’s Intelligence modifier. A Will save reduces this to just 1 round. At 8th level the penalty increases to –4.

Background:

Eriniyes led a charmed life to the envy of many others. She was married to a wonderful man and they lived a modest but happy life in Quantium, the capitol of Nex. They she spent most of her time raising their son Errak.

On a vacation trip to see their friend in Katheer, their ship was ambushed by pirates who came aboard and killed the men of the ship, including her husband. The women and children were taken to Okeno and sold as slaves. Unfortunately, her son Errak had gotten sick during their captivity and was killed since he could not be sold. Ironically, Eriniyes did make it to Katheer, but not as a tourist. She was sold to a rich merchant and forced to join his concubine.

During captivity, she turned to the teachings of Calistria. She sank into a darkness, consumed by the lust for revenge for those responsible for her situation and for those who killed her loved ones.

She is not exactly sure when she started to feel the link to animals. She had dreams of conversing with snakes, plotting her revenge. A little after this, a viper started to enter her room on a regular basis. Having no friends and on the verge of losing her mind, she sought companionship with the snake.

One day the snake spoke to her emphatically, giving her the instructions on how to cast a spell. With some practice, she mastered this spell and waited for the day she could use it on her master. Soon that day came, and after taking her new friend she left her master's house burning with everyone still inside.
