Elta looks directly at the one with the stained lips and says "We heard a thopter come in and appear to do a drop. After the previous trouble we alerted the guards here and headed out into the desert and hid. When the troop arrived we ambushed them. The one on Borak activated a shield. The one I fought was on drugs, I could smell them. He grabbed me. That was a mistake. I quickly killed him. The others dispatched theirs. I heard the one Borak fought say something. Then the corpses blew up. Next I heard the thopter coming back on an attack run and yelled for everyone to disperse. It launched a missile at killed and wounded many." Elta nods when finished. Elta arises from the sands silent as a shadow and attacks the man quietly and swiftly trying to hit him in the back of the head to stun him. Unarmed Strike Stunning Fist DC 15: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27 Damage: 1d8 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 1 = 10

Elta says "Wake up the truck guards and have them tell the local Limir guards what is coming in. The sands are ours. We should take them out in the sands so the don't see us. Hit the from the side if we can though, not head on. Get ahead of them and hide and when they are on top of us kill them."

Elta works hard and moves items from one truck to the other. When that is finished he gets into the back of the truck and makes as comfortable space as he can for himself. He looks to the others in the back with him and smiles. "Well" he says "It looks like we are going to be here for a while. I am going to meditate. I will use less air that way. To bring me out just say 'Elta' and I will awaken."

Elta looks a bit stumped for the moment and shrugs. He then says "I doubt a Spice Guild spy is standing around with a sign that says what he is. Anyone have any ideas on trying to track one down? I know we can't go back to the village we were just in."

Once family is done, Elta approaches the body. He looks down and says "I didn't know Ghir long, but he was a very important part of my life. He helped set Ethan and I free from the outworlders. I take this paracompus to remind me of the freedom he gave me, the freedom to roam this world."

Elta rests up just happy to not have anyone adding any more bumps and bruises for a few hours. The journey here certainly added a few more. Elta turns to the others and says "How are we going to get the crates onto the worms?" When the time comes he helps in getting the worms. Survival: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26

I was of the impression that fremen viewed all fremen as some sort of family and it was fremen against the outworlders. I could be wrong but leaving them to die due to the Harkonnan's actions seems harsh. I'm not saying stop and pick them up but more get out of sight and then pick them up. Unless we are pursued.

I think we need to talk about the shield wall a little. It is not a wall. It is a set of rocky mountains or cliffs up to about 4600 meters high. They are marked on the world map. That being said the village does have a wall or fence around it according to it's map. It looks like it only has the one gate out.

Elta gets into the back of the truck assuming there is no room in the front and begins to hide himself. He says to the others "Let's get out of here before we have to fight off more than we can kill. Anyone know how to use a lasgun if it comes to that?" Stealth: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
About Spes Magna MarkLudo; ergo sum. I play; therefore, I am. That might seem a bit silly, but isn’t gaming a great way to make friends with whom to share good times and grand adventures? I know it has been for me. More than 30 years ago in a desk at Landrum Middle School, I discovered the Dungeons & Dragons basic rulebook and a graph paper map of a hand-drawn dungeon done with a blue-ink ball-point pen. I shared this treasure with Fred Hawkins, my dearest friend and longest gaming partner. That “finders keepers” moment turned into decades of gaming ranging across dozens of different systems. Throughout D&D remained the cornerstone of my gaming and social life. Except for my wife, all of my best friends have been gamers. Together, we laugh and share a vision of heroism and an escape from grind of the workaday world. Today, as a husband and father, I groom the next generation of gamer. Stalwart adventurers will oppose the remorseless forces of evil long after I no longer have the wherewithal to roll a d20. Good triumphs. That is the heart and soul of my gaming and the raison d’être for Spes Magna Games. Grab those dice! Gird your loins! Tonight, evil loses! Of course, after reading all that, you might be wondering who I am. Well, my name is Mark L. Chance. I’ve been involved in roleplaying games since circa 1978. Aside from being an avid gamer, I enjoyed a productive stint a freelance writer for Fantasy Flight Games and have done some projects for Cracked Mirror Publishing as well. When not focusing on Spes Magna Games projects, I play with my children and wife, watch movies, and read, especially history. I game about every other weekend as a charter member of Man Day Adventures. I’m also a member of the Texas State Historical Association |
