Elsdon Blackburn at your service. I'm an explorer. A treasure hunter. 'course, most treasures nowadays belong to other people, but don't get me wrong - I'm no thief. Wouldn't dream of taking something that wasn't mine. I'm an admirer of wealth, is all - an aficionado. What I do is look for things that people might like, and then I might tell others about it and how they might go about getting a look for themselves. Might unlock and hold open the doors for them if the guard's too busy to do it for them. Not my fault if they decide to take something without asking, or break something that isn't theirs... I'm just the tour guide. All I ask is a little tip for letting them in and showing them around.
I like working with goblins. Nice folk, once you get to know them, and no one cleans a place out as fast as a band of goblins. Good at breaking things and taking what isn't theirs, not so much for planning... and they HATE it when the Legion shows up to ruin their party. That's why Krenko hires me. I'm a goblin party planner. Not everyone wants to sit in a bush for hours on end, taking notes of when the guards change but I'm not everyone. It's easy, safe, and there's nothing illegal about sitting in a bush.
Krenko? Last I saw him was, oh, a couple of months ago. That would be when everything went to shit and I went into hiding. I'm still trying to figure out what happened. I watched that place for WEEKS and there was NEVER more than two guards. It should have been perfect. But as soon as we're inside, half the Boros Legion decides to show up. Obviously someone sold us out. Now Krenko was sure it was me, and I was sure it was Krenko and that was the end of the partnership. He stabbed me a little bit and I don't blame him; after all, it was in the heat of the moment and I DID shoot him first. Just business. Anyways, after that I went to ground. I'm not too worried about Krenko or his boys; he's a sneaky little bastard but I'm equally sneaky and a much bigger bastard. I AM worried that he was telling the truth and knew nothing about it, and that we've pissed off one person too many.
I'll be honest; times have been tough since then. I'm no fighter but I found myself at the district mercenary office along with all the other luckless sellswords. Ended up signing up for a security detail along with a battle magus and a ranger who looks like he walked straight out of the Wilds. The magus, turns out he's a disgraced Boros legionnaire. Some rich kid who got caught with a dead senator. Maybe he did it, maybe it's just politics. He's desperate to clear his name though, and Desna knows I could use a friend in the Legion so I agreed to help him out. Ha, maybe I'll pin it on Krenko. Wouldn't that be something? I wish.
Don't know much about the ranger but he carries a sword as long as I'm tall and has no allegiance to the Guilds, which is good enough for me. Looks more like a hero than a raider, which is why he's in the mercenary line along with the rest of us instead of swimming in stolen riches, hah! Ahh... not much room for heroes these days, you know? I wouldn't even know which side to fight for. Then again, I can think of a few I'd fight AGAINST, and maybe that's all you need.
