About Elsbeth Startouched

Background
Elsbeth Startouched was born in Kenabres to her elven father, a researcher in the city. While her mother and father were estranged, she was sent back and forth to her mother's home in Varisia a few times during her childhood. When she was in her early teen years the caravan she was in was raided while it was attempting to cut off a few days of travel by skirting the edge of the Worldwound. Her father hid her in a small rock outcropping before the raiders arrived, and while he was cut down, she survived, undetected. Deep in hostile territory, seeing terrifying shapes all around, she thought she was done for until a beautiful women appeared out of no where and, keeping on finger on her lips and another on her medallion of Desna, led her away from the site of the ambush and towards the city. She melted back into the country side when Kenabres was insight. Elsbeth never got to properly thank her. She has modeled much of her life after the benefactor and harbored a growing grudge against demonkind.

She refused to travel back to Varisia and her mother; instead electing to remain in Kenabres and was taken in by a small temple of Desna. She was too young for the dwindling fire of the Fourth Crusade, but she trains, hoping for a chance to strike back and avenge her father. Smaller and more lithe than most of her friends, she's focused on speed and precision over direct strength. While she admired and loved her father, he was slow to respond. As a result she expects elves to be aloof; if her own father could accept her, why should a stranger elf.

In general she is quick to accept people; but slow to trust deeply, outside of a crisis situation. She knows that planning normally wins the day, but when scared/threatened she has trouble thinking things through and tends to look for more direct solutions.

Appearance
Friendly, but guarded appearance. Very fair skin, natural blonde hair, but she dyes it deep black whenever she can. Keeps her hair long, but tightly braided. Lean and athletic, rather androgynous.

Tactics
In general she prefers to hang back and engage at range. However, if her friends or innocents are in danger (defined as melee types getting flanked/mobbed or non-melee types getting engaged at all) and a charge can reach, she'll change in to try to draw attention.
