My husband and I had both signed up for the Magitech open event Friday from 8PM to 1PM. We were very excited to get into the open game. Now it has both of us listed in Minion Quest which we did not sign up for, has taken us out of the game we did get (one of the few we were excited about) and now that game is full.

I can work on it at work, it'll give me something to think about :)
I mean, Disney really did have to do something. With crap shows like Hannah Montana and the like they have lost a great deal of their male audience. I mean when is the last time they had a decent TV show for boys? By buying Marvel they are trying to retarget that demographic that they have neglected for the past half dozen years. And censoring the Marvel universe and trying to make it fluffy would be a waste of their time and money. They would lose the male demographic if they did that. PS Darkwing Duck vs. Juggernaut = Win the only more entertaining thing would be if they had bought DC instead of Marvel and we could see a face off between DD and Batman....
I'm a secretary for a Lutheran Church (which here in the states just made the big decision to ordain gays and bless same sex unions) I live in the south so half the church is losing its ever loving mind over the whole thing (which makes my job INSANE) we've also had to let a few people go so some people are getting anxious. Robert is a car prep for Enterprise, and then gets stuck taking care of the puppy full time. Which he just hates!! :P I'm hoping things calm down here soon (though we are heading towards Advent which means Christmas......yeah not looking forward to that holiday this year) so we'll see!!
Yeah I'm trying to work on it. Mind you when you guys post is probably around 7 in the morning here, and I'm off to work, and I'm still at work (robert has the mornings off so he can get up and post) this is my lunch break right now and I'm trying to write something up but we're a little busy today since yesterday was crazy. The second I get a free moment that doesn't involve me scarfing my lunch I'll post promise.

Thank you for the free rank in disguise, I hadn't even really thought about needing that skill for this concept, though it does make a lot of sense.
Can I change my character trait? Maybe to something that gives me a +1 bonus on disguise checks and always makes disguise a class skill? Similar to Suspicious...
That will probably make up the difference for me and I won't have to spend everything I have in disguise.
FW: Coat of Arms
Armand de Seul's shield is sabal. The charge is an argent Weeping Willow, that has died in winter. However, at the bottom of the shield is a wavy, or chevron, symbolizing that though the tree seems dead, the roots are still full of life. Chevrons are in the Ordinaries section I like the nightmares, and I see that you are still waiting on some background stuff from me. What do you need still? (Sorry I've been a bit flaky this week, work has been hell) I finished her gear, feats, skills, and now I've finished the shield. So let me know whatcha need!
FW: I have a question on weaponry.
I've been beating my head against a wall trying to find a weapon that made sense for my character build, giving her a weapon that would be feasible in combat and allow for the dex-y feel I want, and I came up with very few ideas. 1) The Elven Thinblade, which is basically a Longsword that can be weapon finessed, and as she is Half Elven her mother could have ostensibly had one. This is probably the best fit (obviously I would spend the feat to be able to use it)but it has the same problem as the rapier of looking a little flimsy. 2) The Rapier. Very noble, very quick weapon that has no real world application and on a knight looks kind of foolish, but it has the right feel speed-wise and was the weapon I initially considered for this chararcter. 3) The Longsword. It really doesn't have the right feel for how I want her to go, but IS the true weapon of knighthood. I wanted her to use a faster, lighter weapon that could take full advantage of her speed and grace, so this is my least favorite option, save for the fact that a knight with a rapier looks really dumb in my head.... I am at an impasse...help!!!

DM: I'm thinking the Marquis can just be her uncle. If he was the elder brother to her father then him being old could still work and his girls being older than her works too. Not to mention they could have been close because the cousins could have gotten together for winters on the islands and springs in the grassy fields. She would have been close to her aunt and uncle then, and the Marquis' 2 girls.
I've been trying to figure how her uncle found out where she was and this is my thought: Last year she sent a ruby ring which her aunt had given her for winterfest to her uncle, with a note that told him she was alive, and masquerading as a boy, by Vincent's advice, in order to bide her time. Then he has a reason to know why she is pretending to be a boy and where she most likely is. He would search for her with her assumed name, Armand de Seul. (But of course the letter can be written to Alinuyn, she intends on burning it the second she is able if that is the case :) )

DM:
Some more information that I have been mulling over. Is there anyway we can compromise a little on which person is related to the Marquis. Originally I was intedning on Ali being a half elf, the elven half coming from her mother's side (because if this is anything like most medevial socities succession travels through the men, so in order for her to be noble, her father had to be noble) It would have made for some nice role play eventually with me and mothman too. Maybe an uncle on her father's side?
This was my original thought: Alinuyn's mom was a wood elf, it was the reason they tried to stay neutral from the war for so long. Her parents met while her father was on a hunting expedition, as was her own group (she was a ranger). The two parties were both hunting the same quary and began to compete over the kill. Imagine, the epic final hunt scene, the young human warrior and the beautiful elven girl racing towards the stag, both knocking their lines at the same time and loosing killing blows to the stag. Looks pretty epic in my head at least :) I can also very easily see how this does not fit your vision, and if that is the case and it messes with your story too much, then she can be human and I get an extra first level feat... oh darn. And she can most certainly have a trainer who was a wood elf. The land her father held was very fertile, and would have probably been partial to the druids and rangers that helped keep life in balance and the crops good. I intended on her being skilled with a bow but not having that as her main form of offense (I play a lot of archers and I was leaning toward a dervish/duelist feel but if that doesn't work as well I can always play an archer, I do love them)Also, the knight's code finds all forms of long ranged combat less the honorable, and Vincent would have a problem with it :( In regards to reconciling the "knight" idea with the duelist idea, I was thinking about knights in the most basic sense in regards to their code of honor. Knights would often enter into one on one combats and duels, as you well know. One of the reasons I enjoyed the knighthood idea was that he/she did not fit into that norm, it is what makes her obviously different, despite her best efforts to hide, and gives all those great rp moments of "your a knight? you certainly don't look like a knight..." But Robert and I are going to look at the duelist PC again, and see if it really works, which it may not, and then I'll just go straight fighter. Wall of text; complete! It's ok, I shall have to learn to love surprises!! And I'll get to read them once we've gotten well past it so :D Play on!
Armand:
So I am almost positive I am going to make Armand a level 1 Fighter. I really feel that in order to depict the difference in experience between him and Vincent there should be a level difference. So level 1 it is!!!
As for stats: I rolled decently, but sort of confusing stats... 4d6 Strength - 15 5d6 Dexterity - 18 (I went with more dice for this stat because I wanted him to be a dex fighter, as his light style and quick nature are indictive of him not being a him, but Str. turned out nice too.) 4d6 Constitution - 11 (not real happy about this one but such is life) 4d6 Intelligence - 16 (I'm a smart little bugger) 3d6 Wisdom - 11 (I was very happy with this score, I like being an impetious youth :D ) 4d6 Charisma - 14 (Also happy with this score, if he is going to lead then Charisma is important) With my +2 from being a half-elf (which I am dropping in Con)you come out with: Str - 15 +2
Favored class is obviously going to be fighter, and since my con is so low I will probably drop the first FC point into my HP instead of a skill. And as for character traits, I'm in the debate... I have to say I'm a little sad we don't get to watch each other's progression. I love the story aspect of these kinds of games, but eventually I guess we'll get to see everything.
About me, Well I probably started playing structured gaming when I was thirteen or fourteen (about 10 years now) but before that I was in many play-by-post games. The biggest flaw to those was that they had no system at all to fall back on, and you can imagine how a bunch of teenagers writing stories eventually turned out (terrible angst, ultimate cosmic power, weapons of mass destruction, you get the idea) so I am excited to start playing in a game that has structure. I am an avid writer, and I think this will be a wonderful way to write everyday. I have also never played this particular fantasy trope. I've rolled up stats and have my ideas all formulated, I'm just not very computer savvy so I have to figure out the spoiler thing. By the way, thank you for the opportunity FW, I'm glad to be here.
If you come to find you enjoy the Noble from the Green Ronan book I was going to take my first level in that and then Fighter! I haven't played a Fighter in a while. She may or may not prestige class into Duelist, but we have time before that happens :) I believe initially Robert was going to take Vincent Fighter, (I also think someone is coming out with a new knight class soon and he wanted to peek at that as well) But last we talked about it we both saw that no one had really put up a healer so he was looking at a Paladin. Which should be very interesting :)
Armand de Seul/ Lady Alinuyn Chevalier The war is the last thing anyone wanted. And now it is the only tool Sir Armand de Seul has to achieve his goals. Only in war do great heroes rise from obscurity. Only in glory can a youth inspire talented, worthy soldiers to his banner. Only out of the fires of war can peace be forged. Armand knows he is not like his fellow knights. He is not strong, nor hardy. He will never wield a great two-handed axe and overpower his foes. Speed is his ally. His muscles are lean and nimble. He excels at one-on-one combat. “Tricky” is what they called him. He complies strictly with the knight’s code, especially when a lady’s honor is involved. This gets him into terrible trouble as he is otherwise shy around women and gets flustered easily when they flirt. Thankfully he has Vincent, his squire and greatest ally with him. Though Vincent is no longer as young as he once was, he is an invaluable friend, and a voice of pure reason when Armand’s ideals may otherwise get him into trouble. Alinuyn Chevalier. Alinuyn means “she who brings hope in shadows”. The burden of her name struck her at night, when she dropped the façade of her existence and allowed herself a few quiet moments. Only Vincent knew her and her troubled past. The lone surviving heir to a beautiful, torn province. Failed neutrality led to increased violence from the outside. Both sides of the war wanted compliance from the territory. After five years of none aggression the tenuous neutrality finally failed. In the night, the southern army invaded their lands. She had barely just turned 13. They heard the commotion from the nursery long before the forces broke through the gate. Giliat and Rebekah, her older brother and sister, went to bolster the lines and help protect the manor. “Protect Chase.” Giliat had said as he unsheathed his sword. “We’ll be back.” Vincent barreled in soon after. He tried to smile reassuringly as he grabbed both their hands and led them down the servants’ quarters to the stables. His nephew had prepared for them , and without a second glance the three of them raced out into the shadows. As they approached the gate Alinuyn heard a small peep beside her, and watched in horror as her little brother slummed forward in his saddle, arrow protruding from his back. She turned back for him, but Vincent grabbed her reins and they charged forward, away from the burning building, and the last of her family. Her goals are simple, their execution complicated. She wants nothing more than to see this war come to an end, and to be reinstated into the lands that are rightfully hers. Now 18, she is of age to reclaim her lands. To do this, she has affected the guise of a young, obscure noble boy, Sir Armand de Seul aiming for glory and fame. She must bring capable, talented people to her cause, so that she can reclaim her home and put things back to rights.
I am very interested!! It has been a really long time since I have done anything even akin to play by post. I get very excited about things that help to hone my writing skills as well as let me play in my favorite genre!! I'm the kind of person who will check a forum a few times a day to see if there are replies because I love to see the story move forward and find out what happens next. I'm already pondering a character concept :) |
