Lastly, I've been digging a bit more about specific traits on spells, and I found out 3 spells that might have an issue with their traits :

Clownish Curse, Savant's Curse, and Daydreamer's Curse all have the Attack trait, though never call for attack rolls of any kind, thus never applies to anything from the spell. And I also checked, the trait doesn't apply to other curse spells with similar wordings.

Do you think it's an editing mistake from the Paizo staff ?

From a quick read-through, my first impression about the class is very mixed : there are a lot of nice options, like Cauterize, or Blast Lock, that give color and depth to a Gunslinger character type; but on the other side, a few options give a really cartoonish feeling :

- Black powder boost (especially the vertical boost)
- Rebounding assault (I can accept the damage combination and 1d6 precision damage when both weapons hit, but the throwing weapon that rebounds into the gunslinger's hand breaks the suspension of disbelief for me, even in a fantasy world with magic)
- Instant return (this one really made me think about old warner bros. cartoons in which bullets could be intercepted in the gun cannon and shot back before exploding)

I think a lot of these effects come from balance issues, but they tend to break immersion due to being too implausible.

I'll try to complete this post later, after making tests in my playgroup.

In the APG was introduced a non-weapon item: the net.

It can be used two different ways : attached to a rope to grapple enemies or unattached, as a ranged immobilizing item.

There's a problem with that second part : "When the net is unattached, you can attempt a ranged attack roll against a Medium or smaller creature within 20 feet."
It specifies that you attempt a ranged attack roll... without specifying any kind of proficiency. Was that part overlooked, or are PCs automatically considered as non-proficient with the net ?

Concerning characters considered as humans through traits, like Scion of Humanity for Aasimars, or Mostly Human for Elemental-blooded outsiders (Suli, Sylph, Ifrit, Undine, Oread) :

Do these characters get to select an ethnicity, just like Humans (and thus getting access to these ethnicities Race Traits) ?

Hi !

Does the Elemental Strike feat from Inner Sea Races get its damage multiplied on a critical hit ? Not sure, as it's energy damage, but not defined by an extra damage die.

Hi guys.

I have a question about Racial Heritage and its interactions, when taking a Giant race as specifics for the feat.

Due to not getting the Giant subtype, how does it interact with things like the dwarves' Defensive Training racial trait or the rangers' Favored enemy class feature ?

Hi guys and gals!
I was wondering if there was an extended version of the elementalist's school spell list including things released after UM, and including more recent things such as thunderstomp for Earth elementalists, and so on?

If so, could someone give me a link to that extended list, or do I have to rule depending on each spell ?

Hi !

Do "Burst" weapons (Icy burst, Shocking burst...) continue to increase their power if the weapon multiplier goes over 4 ? I mean, if for some reason (like being a kensai), I manage to have my weapon doing x5 damage on a critical, what happens with my Icy burst property ?

1. x5 is not x3 or x4 and thus, +1d10 cold damage. (absolute RAW)

2. There's nothing over x4, so I get +3d10 and that's it.

3. The table continues and it's +4d10 for x5, +5d10 for x6... (good sense application)

What do you think ?

Hello fellow players !

Is there any official answer about the use of archetypes in combination with VMC from Pathfinder Unchained ? Not for your main class, but for your secondary class.

Thanks in advance !

2 people marked this as FAQ candidate.

As I didn't find another answer :

How does VMC from Unchained interact with feat prerequisites, such as Weapon Specialization, which requires you to be a 4th-level Fighter? Does taking a VMC(Fighter) allow you to take it, or does it lock you out ?

It seems it wouldn't work, as VMC seemingly does not give you anything beyond class features, but I'd like to get another point of view on that question.

Hi guys !
I tried looking for it but without finding any official/definitive answer.

How does Elemental assault interact with thrown weapons ? With projectile weapons ?

(In case you ask, I'm wondering about making a Card Caster Elemental Knight Suli Magus !)

Hi fellow players.
As I was building a new character with a familiar, I encountered an oddity in the familiar statblocks for king crabs... They don't have a feat. But, as non-mindless creatures, they should get one.

For those who think vermin familiars don't get an initial feat, that's wrong, the Greensting scorpion gets Weapon Finesse, as does the centipede. Is is the same for the king crab ? Just want a confirmation.

Is there any way to call back some non magical item even when in possession of another creature, a bit like the Called Weapon quality ?

Already thought about using Pilfering hand or Swipe, but it wouldn't probably work due to distance constraints.

Thanks in advance

Hi guys !

I just wondered if someone had a list of the magic items that allow you to do some combat maneuvers without provoking AoOs. We're allowed everything paizo, no 3pp, no 3.5.

Please don't point me to the appropriate feats, I currently don't have the feat slot required to take such a feat chain.

Thanks !

As I have read in other threads, I cannot use disarm to take an opponents shield.

Though, as the shield is strapped loosely enough to be removed in a move action, can it be taken from an opponent using a steal combat maneuver (couldn't find a consensus or a clear rule about it) ?

Hello fellow Pathfinders!

I was wondering what was the exact spell level of the Time stutter spell-like ability from People of the river, as it mimics time stop but doesn't copy it exactly.

So if it's a 9th level-equivalent, it cannot be quickened and it's over.
But if it's a 5th level-equivalent ability (as the minimum level to take it is 10, so maximum spell level for a wizard would be 5th), you could be able to quicken it from 17th (when you get access to 9th level spells).

Your thoughts on the question ?

Hello dear community members !

For this first post of mine on the Rules Questions forums, and after 3 hours of extensive search all around the web, I still have an unanswered question. (About the silken ceremonial armor, for those who didn't already read the topic title.)

Please no 3rd party or 3.5 basis for rules.

1. Given the way a silken ceremonial is built (several layers of silk + metal studs), and given special metals can be applied to studded leather armors (cf GMG118), is it possible to apply special metals to the crafting of silken ceremonial armors ?

2. If not, which other materials could be applicable (except from griffon mane and its Fly check bonus) ?

Thanks !
