History

Prelude
The daughter of a minor courtier in Iași, Elena was raised with the various privileges of position. As a handmaiden to a more prominent family, she learned to read and write, to do household accounting, to weave and sew, and to manage servants. She learned politics and was baptized into the Eastern Orthodox church. Her young life was filled mostly with lessons, social events, and stern instruction.

As she and her charge grew into young women, she nervously awaited the day that her lady Ioanna would wed, after which she too would have an arranged marriage and move into adulthood. A suitor was chosen, a date was set, and Elena was bathed, coiffed, and stuffed into a dress to accompany Ioanna to her nuptials.

The wedding never arrived. Ioanna was not to be wed - she was to become the latest "bride" and childe of Grigore Ursa Comănescu, a three-hundred-year-old Tzimisce of the old country who ruled a small province from a hoary castle on a hill. At the event, the Tremere attacked; the Transylvanian war between the clans, in full force, led to a brutal reckoning. Several of the guests were killed, including Ioanna.

The Tremere were ultimately repulsed, but Grigore needed a new consort. Elena became the token sacrifice.

Adjusting to her new unlife was a murderous (literally) undertaking. Grigore proved to be a stern and unrelenting taskmaster, taxing Elena's skills to the fullest. He gave little, taught little, and demanded much. Elena's parents were notified that she had died in the raid. No further questions about her were forthcoming.

The new unlife did come with perks. Elena had access to some of her sire's resources, allowing her to indulge in expanding her education. She refined her understanding of political maneuverings now that she had become aware of the supernatural world. And she started to glean a few secrets about the Cainite condition and history.

Though she has only been a fledgling for a short time, Elena has now been dispatched by her sire on the difficult overland journey to the Germanic territories for... reasons of Kindred political maneuverings. Though such a lengthy overland journey is uncomfortable and dangerous, Elena has the benefit not only of her supernatural Disciplines, but a significant store of wealth... and a few favors as well.

Goals
Elena is still adapting to her new existence, and she is frustrated (and, to be honest, a bit scared) by having to leave her home and travel across Europe at the behest of her sire. She hopes to develop a safe place of her own, a location where she can be the power standing behind the throne, and to find a way to survive without having to face the constant risks of vampire society and the possibility of mortal retaliation.

The Embrace has oddly not changed her appearance much, and she seems much more lively and vibrant than most Kindred, even though she is not especially humane.
