So in theory, if you're facing an army you know has afflicted Lycanthropes in it you could combine a Solarion's abilities and a shield painted in particular shades to simulate the spectrums of light reflected by the moon to try and Force a change so they go nuts & turn on the people around them? Also because I haven't seen it before in this thread, "Jupiter has 17 moons and a MASSIVE werewolf problem."
The thing about Magic or Tech Healing in the system is that Tech healing will do anything that Magic healing can... eventually. Whenever the question comes up i fall back on the "convert to money" example. If you convert healing for a Vesk Frontliner. He needs to regain around 75ish health. You can pay a +35 doctor 75CR/Day (virtually guarenteeing the *3 recover rate) and heal him full in 2 days. (that might be free if they're a fan of your Icon) Or your Mystic can drop 2 spell slots or some of the day's channeling to get him back to 100% right now. But if you had to hire out that same mystic it's around 5000Cr & might not even get the full 75. So the big question then is does your party have time to have a front liner down for 2 days. That's the big difference between Tech and Magic. Tech is a cheap and effective eventuality, while magic is a Fast and 'expensive' immediate result. Like when you're shopping for a computer. There are three things everyone one wants, They want it cheap, fast, and effective. You get to pick two.
I will typically listen to random languages for inspiration, take some interesting words or syllables and mash em together to come up with something that sounds unique. Typically starting from a character point, either from their backstory or mechanics & working forward, for instance, For example my newest AP Vesk is a Soldier/Solarion, She is a resilient and determined fighter despite being the runt of her clutch(?) and has typical dark Vesk scales with splotches of brighter colors. So I decided to look at Gila Monsters, went up above them to the Family classification Varanoidea which has Gila monsters as well as other big tough lizards like Monitor lizards and Komodo dragons. I thought it sounded tough & in keeping with the predatory lizard thing the Vesk have going so i threw it in the blender. Then Brave-heart playing the background gave me an idea. Alba gu bràth translates to Scotland until judgement, or Scotland Forever, which is pretty tough; but the pronunciation is difficult so I bastardized it a bit & threw it in the blender. Run the blender on puree for a bit and we run into Varnobrath. I thought it sounded cool, and in keeping with Vesk characters presented elsewhere like Obozaya and Radaszam it is pronounced with 3 Sylables with the focus on the second syllable. That's just the madness to my method though, mostly it's just coming up with something that fits the character that you wont mind saying a whole bunch...
First mission will probably be about getting ahold of a ship for the party. I had an idea, You live on an old, dirty, dingy, generally unpleasant asteroid mining complex. The complex is refereed to colloquially as Stone as only the wealthy corporate people have been granted outside communication privileges. However, there are legends about a ship, hidden somewhere within Stone. Some say it's been here since the gap, some say it's an abandoned military project from another system. Recently you've heard something more concrete. Not a location, not even a hint at a location, but a rumor that maybe someone knows something they're not telling. Specifically the old lady who maintains the machines out on the Ice formation the hab's get their O2 from. You & your friends might be able to get to her, you're not supposed to leave without clearance but if you're to have any hope of getting out of Stone you have to find a way to talk to the Lady by the Lake. yeah it's a shameless Excalibur reference, big whoop, wanna fite about it
I think that the best solution is to go back to what english has always done. Mug other languages in dark alleys to go through their pockets for spare grammar. For Instance, German uses a pronoun Sie(pronounced like Zee, sort of... I don't actually know german really well,) Depending on the conjugation of the verb it can either refer to a woman Or formally refer to a person of indeterminate gender. That is something that could be used, then again probably just go with whatever the character decides on. Cause quite frankly, gender pronouns for people who don't fit into normal binary biological definitions creates a lot of discussion. Generally anything that creates this much discussion in the real world will create interesting role play on a table. Politics is just perception writ large. |
