Soon after presenting himself to the Prince, Edward visited the Archbishop of York to establish his claim to his family estate posing as his deceased great grand nephew. Everyone in York is aware of Edward's vow not to see the Lords Light until all the holy land is safely in the hands of Christendom. He outwardly years to return to the crusades but remains behind to deal with the monsters and demons that are rumoured to lurk in the woods by night. Retainer
Joseph the Jew has only recently entered the service of Edward. He is intelligent, pragmatic, cool headed and with a nose for business as he calls it. Edward rescued him on his return from the holy land. Joseph had been found guilty of being too Jewish when a Christian German Lord with no coin found that he could not pay the debts he is owed Joseph. Edward saw an opportunity to find one who could manage his estate and Joseph found his escape, along with the chance to practice his trade under a sufficiently powerful overlord. In York Joseph feigns being Christian for fear of prosecution and while he is not a ghoul, he is blood bound to Edward.

Celerity Potence Presence Backstory Early Life:
Edward is the second born son of a Sir Arthur of York. His family had a modest estate. Edward was to be knight like his father, something Edward looked forward to and cherished the prospect of. Edward was the page in the service of a Knight, Sir Phillip. Edward left York during the first crusade, as a page and then as a squire eventually being knighted for his accomplishments and service. Sir Edward and Sir Phillip grew to be very close raiding, looting, pillaging. Enjoying the thrill of combat and the risk of life (or unlife). Phillip did not want Edward to return from the holy and feared for his life and so he opened his eyes to the world of cainites. Having spent so many years in the middle east and having seen the way those who claim to be devout conduct themselves he has lost all faith in religion and the piety of those who proclaim themselves faithful. Edward of York gladly accepted being placed in the service of his cainite master. Edward sees the powers and unlife he gains as a cainite to style the world as he should see it. Edward stayed on in the holy lands and they continued to have great adventures.
Embrace & Sire:
Edward was delighted when he was finally offered the Embrace as Sir Phillip called it. The ceremony was not unlike that of Knighthood. He prayed during the day, saw his last sunset and was then embraced as a brother by Phillip. A sharp pain followed by ecstasy and then nothing. He woke feeling pain, burning pain and Phillip's voice in the background saying "Drink this my childe." He drank and he wrenched and he drank again then rested, finally awaking to a burning thirst. Sir Phillip was tough as he had always been but was also kind. He Edward about Cainites and Cainite societies. He instructed Edward in the courts and politics of Cainites, the 13 Clans, feeding, and use and power of blood. He also taught him well of his clan, their history heritage, to learn to perfect one's self and mastery of mind, body and blood, for the greater we are, the greater our chance of achieving our visions. Together they prospered in their unlives, fighting, looting and drinking through the crusades, as Sire and Childe and as brothers in arms.
York:
During the German crusade something went horribly wrong. He remembers little. He knows his sire was slain and they were plagued by troubles, the loss of some lands, some enemy, but his memory, he can't remember. At the end of the crusade his is forced to make the journey back to England or possibly face a similar fate as his sire. He returned to York where is original family's estate was and he sought a new lord. Sir Phillip had supported Prince John when he took control of York. Edward, though he desired to style himself in the image of Mithras the warrior God, sought to enter the service of Prince John as his vassal. Edward vaguely remembers how he killed sire's assassin, someone he recalls as an Assamite (but cannot name), and he feels deep unease at certain times, as if someone is watching him, even if no one is in sight. He thinks this started just after his sire was killed and he decided to return to Europe. Presentation to Prince John
Sir Edawrd entered a knight in armour modest but well maintained, having already handed over his weapons to the Sheriff. He boldly strode forward, allowing all his power to flow into his presence and aware of the attention on him. Edward walked right up to the Prince and took a knee, his eyes fixed on the floored and stated with a determined voice as he had been taught by sire. "I present myself to you Prince John, Sir Edward of York, Clan Brujah, childe of Sir Phillip of Normandy, your loyal aid. I am returned from the Holy Land, unsworn and unbound to any Lord. I offer to you my sword, my fealty and my unlife, if you will have it." He remained on a knee, unflinching, eyes focused on the floor, allowing the prince to work out all the possible paths and outcomes. Finally after what seemed like an eternity, Prince John broke the silence. "In my domain your unlife is mine neonate, not yours to offer, never forget that." he said, almost to the entire court though directed at Edward. Edward maintained his position of submission, acknowledging the truth of the Prince's words without saying a word. He let did not give in, did not relinquish his minor position of power. The prince once again broke the silence. "I knew your sire, pray tell me, how does he fair?" Edward responded with one word. "Assamites, my Prince." The one statement answering the question without allowing focus of the conversation to be altered. "A tragedy." the prince said, "We shall give you the chance to prove your loyalty as your sire once did. Arise Sir Edward and be welcome in York. As your first service, you shall take the child Cainite, your namesake as your ward, educate him the traditions of Caine as if he were your childe, find that cainite who turned the child and bring the offender before me for final justice. For the loyalty of your sire and this service I grant you your family estate as your domain, for now. Do not fail me."
Goals and Desires:
Edward has established a Brujah\ training arena which is open air and seeks to build one in a stone hall once he has the resources to pay for the stone. His favourite academic pursuit is governance, he learns of how Carthage, Rome, Byzantine were built and fell. With this he seeks to improve his skill with body and blood and to expand his power base. He also seeks to better the lot of his vassals, he knows that the improvement in their fortunes will result in the improvement of his as well. He wishes to train them in arms so that he can better serve his lord with a ready warriors and to build the economy and industry and improve the education of the village for farming alone will not achieve greatness. He also recognizes that he cannot ignore Cainite society in York and he seeks to grow his influence there, but slowly and carefully so at not to draw too much attention to himself nor too many rivals. He knows the lessons of Carthage. He uses his retainer well, but seeks to acquire more who can better serve him, to better aid him in achieving his goals.
