Sneak Attack - If a rogue can catch an opponent when he is unable to defend himself effectively from her attack, she can strike a vital spot for extra damage. The rogue's attack deals extra damage anytime her target would be denied a Dexterity bonus to AC (whether the target actually has a Dexterity bonus or not), or when the rogue flanks her target. This extra damage is 1d6 at 1st level, and increases by 1d6 every 2 rogue levels thereafter. Ranged attacks can count as sneak attacks only if the target is within 30 feet. This additional damage is precision damage and is not multiplied on a critical hit. With a weapon that deals nonlethal damage (such as a sap, unarmed strike, or whip), a rogue can make a sneak attack that deals nonlethal damage instead of lethal damage. She cannot use a weapon that deals lethal damage to deal nonlethal damage in a sneak attack—not even with the usual –4 penalty. The rogue must be able to see the target well enough to pick out a vital spot and must be able to reach such a spot. A rogue cannot sneak attack while striking a creature with total concealment. My name is Edgar Vashnarstill. To most the second name is much more important than the first. Vashnarstill is a noble family after all. I am the second son of Baron Sendi Vashnarstill and from the day I was born I have been raised to support my elder brother Salazar, to be his right hand in all things. I joined Sal in most of his lessons and while he was taught personally by my father to be a Baron, I was given other tasks. Instruction in combat and subterfuge, in knowledge of all the dangers my brother may one day face. In essence I have been trained to be his bodyguard in all aspects of life. It has not been a bad life though, in fact it has been a great one. Learning is a wonderful thing and I have never wanted for anything. My years of study at the Alabaster Academy were wonderful despite the school's well known decline. I have always been allowed to do whatever I please in my free time. I have spent many an eve dancing with beautiful woman at balls, I have enjoyed my fair share of operas, lost and won much coin in gambling halls, and spent many an enjoyable night with my fellow young nobles debating and making merry. But then Thrune took control of the city and my family have been put in a tense position. We have never supported Asmodeus or House Thrune and we must be careful to not find ourselves out of favour, or worse, written out of history, never to be spoken of again. Unfortunately I did something stupid, something that made the struggle against House Thrune's opression all the more personal. Last autumn I fell in love. She told me little of her past and I never knew her family name, but she was a beautiful, quick of wit and with a lust for life I had never seen before and haven't seen since. She complemented my often austere demeanor perfectly. One day she professed to me she was a member of the Silver Ravens. I was instantly fascinated, the secrecy of the Ravens, combined with their noble goal grabbed my imagination like nothing else. When Thrune took the city as his own she disappeared with the rest of those revolutionaries. Believe me, I searched for her frantically. I called upon every connection I could bring to bare, used up every favour I had and I found nothing, not a trace of her. But just yesterday someone contacted me. I don't know who he is, and he didn't tell me anything more than but to meet him at the Aria Park protest. He said he could tell me about the Silver Ravens. It could be a trap, it could be nothing of use, but if there is any chance I can find her I will do it. Today I head for the protest, today I head towards a future full of unknowns. Appearance and Personality:
Edgar's appearance is put together in a way only someone who comes from heritage and money can be. His skin is unblemished and has a healthy glow, his teeth are straight and pristine, his eyes green meadows filled with knowledge and curiousity. He dresses well and in style, though more loosely than some of his friends. His sleeves are often rolled and his buttons undone or in the wrong place, but in a way that looks suitable only to him. His boots often muddier than a noble's should be. He has a stronger jaw than many of his fellows and a sterner gaze, a little bit of metallic hardness instilled in his training. Edgar has a reputation among his friends as being too serious. He seldom expresses his emotions with more than a small smile or frown or a short laugh. That isn't to say he cannot have fun or let loose, it is simply that he is a reserved young man who holds his cards close to his chest. Of course, all of his training has led to him being able to act much more boisterous than he naturally is if the need comes. While he enjoys dancing and drinking nearly as much as the next young nobleman his true love is knowledge. Despite having graduated from the Alabaster Academy he is known to return there often to pick his previous Professors' brains over whatever his newest fancy may be. When not carousing with his friends or honing his fighting talents he is usually found curled up in some comfortable place reading a thick tome. He is very kind hearted, and has gotten in a bit of trouble more than once for taking a downtrodden commoner onto the estate for a bit of food and rest. He has also gotten into scraps with other nobleman over the honour of a simple commoner, which is frowned upon by many of his fellows.
