Sorry for the delay, guys. Life intervening in big way (work, if you must know!). I'm back, tho!

Fanriel "Legs" wrote:
"We're heading back!" Fanriel tries to 'whisper loudly' up to Edgar. "Need someone to catch ya?"

Edgar 'whispers loudly' right back down to Fanriel. "No, that is quite alright, my dear. Elthaslas and I will be going in the window..."

Edgar lets Elthaslas enter the middle window first. Once the elf is in the room, he reaches his bow into the window, drops it and the arrow gently onto the floor inside, and scrambles up and over the windowsill.

Gathering up his weapon, Edgar re-nocks the arrow and begins to scan the room, noting any doors.

edgar, the porch roof runs the length of the Inn. You have 5 windows to choose from. Counting from left to right, 1 thru 5, pick a number

Thanks for rolling for Edgar!

Edgar scrambles up, unslinging his bow and nocking an arrow once he gains his balance.

Scanning all five windows, he looks for the darkest one.

once he determines which one, he will approach cautiously, attempting to peer in

Wiping his eyes, he then gives one of the panes a wipe of its own with his sleeve, trying to get a better look.

Halfling! Elthaslas call to Edgar shouting over the sound of the rain There is a window do you think you could fit through it. he says pointing to the window on the second floor.

Edgar follows his gesture, eyeing the size of the window, then the best route to climb.

"Aye, I think I can...just not sure about the climb" he shouts to the elf.

"Perhaps you could give me a wee boost up?" he says, indicating a hopefully sturdy drainpipe. "By the way, the name is Edgar, friend" he smiles at Elthaslas as he slings his bow across his back.

"Easy, my dear" says Edgar to Gabriel, sensing her fear.

As he tries to calm his own nerves after the scream, he hears Elthaslas trying to force open the door around the corner.

"Sounds like your kinsman may need some help. Follow me..." he says to Fanriel, leading her to where Elthaslas is trying to force open the door.

Edgar squints to peer through the deluge, tightening his grip on his bow. He also scans the ground in around the group.

The girl supposedly heard horns I am going to check the gate then take a look over the wall. Minous said the girl and the dwarf headed towards the back.

"Then that is where we shall go," says Edgar. Looking up at Elthaslas, he says "Be careful, good sir."

Gripping his bow, he motions for Fanriel and Dolwen to follow him around back.

RIZZENMAGNUS wrote:

minutes later, Minous comes back in, smoking a stick. Minous thinks that your traveling wench is a little crazy. Claiming horns be sounded and what not. Strange woman, but Minous like that and will claim her this evening. She and her dwarf servant went around towards the back all quick like

Edgar turns to look at Minous as he reenters the inn. As he speaks, his alarm grows, and he tugs at Fanriel's sleeve. He speaks in a low voice.

"My dear, I think there may be some trouble. I'm going to see what is going on."

He slings his quiver of arrows over his shoulder, and grabs his bow. He pulls up the hood of his cloak over his head, subconsciously realizing he is going to get soaked to the bone anyway, as he heads to the door.

Acknowledging Fanriel's gratitude, Edgar gives her a knowing smile and a wink.

Fanriel tries to mask her surprise, gulping hard as the first bite slowly slides down her throat. Resolving to look confident, she rises back to her full height and slides the small dagger from her own boots. "Getting yourself cut up won't prove they exist or don't, but I can give Minous some new scars if that's what will convince him."

She's beginning to sweat a bit, hoping that the owner of the inn might put an end to this before anything happens.

Placing a hand on Fanriel's arm, Edgar tries to diffuse the situation.

"Fanriel, my dear, sit. Eat something." He turns to the man. "Please, sir, no offense was intended. My lovely companion and I have seen much, hence her passion. Come, let me buy you a drink".

Fel(36): 1d100 ⇒ 86

He waves over a serving wench, slipping a coin into her hand. "What'll you have?" he asks.

Edgar enjoys his meal and listens to the conversation. He nods to Hanna as she approaches, moving a few dishes out of the way so she has a place at the table. At Nargond's question, he nods thoughtfully.

"I wondered the same, Master dwarf. Perhaps they were merely there to see what kind of resistance they might meet in this area. Then again, being beastmen and all, perhaps they were just in the wrong place and the wrong time" he smiles wryly, taking a sip of ale. He looks around to see if Fanriel is nearby, growing concerned at her absence.

at least you are lucky enough to see your kid at 4 months old. I left for iraq when my kids were 6 weeks old, and next saw them when they turned 1 year.

Thank you very much for your service, sir! You and others who serve have my utmost respect and admiration.

Elthaslas Palemoon wrote:
ahhh! I don't need stories like that. My daughter is only four months old so I still have all this stuff a head of me

Don't sweat it, man! Just wait til she gets to the teen years...then you'll wish she was only 4 months old!

Seriously, as the father of two teen boys, its all par for the course. Just come to the realization that effective parenting is an illusion, and you'll be fine...

my son's tonsils were the size of golfballs. he impressed the surgery staff with how large they were. The complication was his oxygen saturation ratings. He was dipping down to the mid 60s while he slept, and freaked the docs out. Turns out it was the anesthesia that was causing it. 24 hours later he was only dropping down to 88.

Glad he's OK, but it kinda sounds like they might have overloaded him a bit. Then again, some extra swelling at the incision site isn't uncommon, so that may have affected his O2 sats.

That being said, did they mention any apnea concerns with him? I'm most likely going overboard, but O2 sats bottoming out isn't all that common following a T&A (assuming they took his adenois too).

Just curious...I'm understand not divulging, what with HIPAA and all... :-)

"Come along, Fanriel, we'll be warm and dry soon enough" says Edgar as he hurries along with the others.

Taking a deep breath after he steps inside, shaking his shabby cloak to free the loosest moisture. Looking around, he draws the innkeepers attention, ordering a room and some food to be brought up.

was a little preoccupied this weekend from friday thru sunday. My son was in the hospital having his tonsils removed. It was supposed to be easy peasy (and i would have time to do my pbp) but was not. spend the weekend in the hospital while my son recovered due to unforeseen complications. But, all is well now, he is home, and enjoying chocolate pudding by the gallon. (yes, just like carl)

now that i am back, it is time for me to get with killing off the pcs... i mean furthering the storyline. :)

Glad to hear he's OK. I work in Pediatric ED, and have seen some "complications" from morning surgery come in...not all with good outcome.

Thanks for carrying on the killing...er....I mean, furthering...

I'm back from Cold Wars, kids!

Some great wargaming this past weekend.

*** Notice - from now thru the weekend my posting may be spotty. I'll be out of town at Cold Wars in Lancaster, PA.

I will try to keep up. Just an FYI.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you. I thought I was dead and you saved me. I'll do anything for you know. Let it be known that Ethan Curlytoes owes his life to you."

Then, without ceremony, he upturns the Beastman body to search fror anything useful or sensitive.

Edgar nocks another arrow, approaching the buried Ethan cautiously. Grateful that the other Halfling is able to squirm out of his predicament, Edgar relaxes, putting away the arrow in his quiver. He waves his hand at the compliment as if it were a fly buzzing around.

"Think nothing of it, lad" he says, watching to bleeding halfling search the beastman for anything of worth.

"Edgar Underfoot, at your service" he adds, bowing his head slightly. He looks around to see if Fanriel is alright, then turns back to the wounded Halfling. "Let's see if we can't get you mended a bit before we move on".

Edgar!!! Ulrics Fury!!! make a BS reroll at your base BS stat. Hopefully it hits and then you can reroll damage

*** Sorry I missed your reroll for me. Here's mine in case.

BS(44): 1d100 ⇒ 28. WOOT!

damage (Ulrics Fury): 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Edgar quickly reloads his bow (half action), and draws back to fire again at the Beastman threatening Ethan. As Ethan falls to the ground, Edgar is grateful that he has a lesser chance of actually striking the other Halfling. His arrow is loosed (half action)

Attack (BS-44): 1d100 ⇒ 21
damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

"Gods above!" shouts Edgar upon seeing the beastmen emerge from the forest. He readies and arrow in his bow, attempting to aim at one of the creatures.

I had missed it too, so I ran a search for "gold" on the pdf.

Page 20, in the midst of character creation:

"You career also includes an entry called Trappings; again, copy these onto your character sheet. The listed items are the equipment you start your adventuring career with. You also get, regardless of career the following:

* Common clothing consisting of a shirt, breeches, and worn boots, a tattered cloak, a dagger tucked in a boot or belt, a sling bag or a backpack containing a blanket, a wooden tankard, a wooden cutlery set, a hand weapon (axe, club, sword, etc.) and a purse holding 2d10 Gold Crowns (gc)."

Yep...glossed right over it! I must be getting old...

Anyway, I still need to finish Edgar's background, but I did read yours. That's where the idea of you hooking up with the band that Edgar belonged to after the leader of yours...well...

Also, for the GM:

Fanriel and Edgar would like to be aquainted at the beginning. We'll still need to work out details, but we do know each other, albeit not for a long time. I'm thinking we met after she and her companion joined the band Edgar was in (based on her background), and are now fleeing that band together.

I'll hold my gameplay post until my idea gets the OK.

@Fanriel, any thoughts?

Heh...not the only one to miss that...

BTW, where is that in the rulebook? I must've read right over it...

Starting Gold: 2d10 ⇒ (9, 5) = 14

Hey adventurer33, since we both have outlaws, should we merge some of our background? Perhaps they are fleeing from the same band of miscreants...

So we have 7 players. i usually run a group of 4-6. So rather than select the group, i will let attrition whittle the group down. All of you are in, but some of you may die. Or you all may live for a long time, which would be very odd within this campaign setting...

Sweet! I should have background done later today.

sorry for the long delay everyone. i took friday off to attend a gaming convention and was in bliss for 3 days.

No worries...life intervenes.

Besides, I'm still working on background.

Torillan's PC here. I have a little bit more info to add, hope to have that soon.
