Edel frowns as Katzuya uses her name over comms during an OP. She really didn't want the want to sacrifice the anonymity that the Zaku offered, but she brushed that aside before responding. +++Nothing so far Kraken-1, we'll keep looking. If I had to guess I'd say they're not going to try and take down the Zakus so they'll probably turn their attention to the evacuation. If they're making a move then it'll be against the civilians before their shipped out.+++
+++Desperation, it seems. Sergeant Riliah have your men cover the remaining civilians as they evacuate and prepare to accept any wounded. Make sure they're searched, we don't need anyone else making martyrs of themselves. If you have any demo specialists have them on standby as well - if they're willing to throw away that many lives then they won't do it just once.+++ +++Kraken-3 to Kraken-1. Sir, the Zakus could be useful for digging survivors out of that rubble but we won't be able to secure the area in the meantime. What do you want to do?+++ Edel notices Kanoe moving towards the hospital and switches to squad channel +++Dammit rook, stay clear of that building. If it blows it's going to take you with it.+++
++Copy that boss-man, Kraken-3 moving out.+++ Edel pushes the Zaku forward, careful to avoid stepping on uneven and shattered ground. She approaches the town with her shield raised. For this next portion I'm assuming Zaku's have some kind of broadcast or speaker system. If not ignore it. When she's within reasonable range she flips on the Zaku loud-speaker system: +++Attention Naranbulag defenders: our forces are observing a temporary cease-fire to allow all civilians and non-combatants to evacuate this area. Any remaining defenders are advised to cease all resistance immediately. Consider the lives of yourselves and those around you. Non-compliance will not be tolerated and an armed response will be met with return fire.+++ Assuming she gets through the broadcast without getting shot, Edel hunkers down and watches the buildings for any sign of a response. If there is continued fire she'll immediately return the favor with the 90mm. Return Fire: Gunnery: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (2, 4) + 10 = 16 If someone targets Edel
Any turn you use a 2H weapon you can't parry with anything besides the 2H weapon. The specific text: Quote: During any turn in which a two-handed weapon is used, you may not parry with anything other than that weapon (even if a Shield is mounted on your arm So you'd need to have a shield mated to the 120mm.
You'll probably want to invest in the Design skill. Remote control drones are pretty easy to build (though a little expensive) and there's some precedent for them in-universe so I can't imagine it'll be that much of an issue. You'll probably need to by Newtype though, since the examples I recall all used Newtype tech. You can also build a sneaky MS.
Edel slumps her shoulders at the moments reprieve and sighs. She moves over to Kanoe and gets down on her haunches, nestling her chin into her palm. She leans in to speak so as not to carry the conversation too far "I hope you take this to heart, rook, so listen close: you've got a lot of spirit, and I admire you for it. A little tempering and you'll go far but right now you're too damned head-strong for your own good. You've got a lot of fight in you, but what's there to be fighting for right now? You need to find your focus before you end up dead. 'Till then, remember that you're a part of a team and I'm relying on you. I need you to be a soldier, kid - not a martyr. Now, c'mere..." and Edel grabs Kanoe and pulls one of the girls arms over her shoulder (against her will if need be, Edel is way past the point of caring). With a grunt she pulls the both of them - herself and Kanoe - to their feet. "Kraken squad is ready to continue, ma'am." she says.
Endurance TN 15: 2d6 + 8 ⇒ (6, 1) + 8 = 15
Athletics TN 10: 2d6 + 13 ⇒ (6, 2) + 13 = 21 Edel only just manages to keep up with the push ups. She had wanted to visit the annex at some point to get some exercise but then Kanoe had fixed it with her. She curses the damned rook under her breath. Was this how it was going to be from now on? Kraken squad as the ass-end of the joke? By the end of the punishment Edel is panting violently but doing her best to remain composure. Best not give the Lieutenant any more fodder she reminds herself. G*!&%~ned rook...
I don't recall the GM ever saying that Dahvana is in charge of the base...My guess is that she's the wing/platoon commander and our direct superior, that's it. This may be better hashed out IC as an opportunity for interaction between our characters, but do you realize that these sort of actions put our entire squad at risk? Especially speaking on behalf of Katzuya who's already declined a promotion. Maybe it's just me, but I don't like sticking my neck out anymore than necessary when it comes to bureaucracy. Quote: And I DO know that ensign is a Navy rank and Sergeant is an enlisted army rank. You find me any real world Army Sergeant who will take orders from some Navy Ensign and not tell him to go stuff it, he's not in the sergeant's chain of command! How would promoting an Ensign to a Lieutenant Junior Grade help in that case? Besides, even though we are all O1s we shouldn't go around with our dicks out acting like we run everything. Even though we outrank NCOs, they'll still have more experience in their roles than us. We're all basically fresh out of training school. Just like USAF pilots, it seems MS pilots are all recruited out of Officers School. It seems to me that we're just normal pilots and Dahvana is our commander. Katzuya is just being given temporary command during this mission (and however many missions that follow) because she's not deploying with us. Saying we're all the same rank is a little misleading given the context of the situation.
Kanoe how much do you know about military rank? We're all O-1 2nd Lts. Commissioned officers. We outrank all NCOs (Seargents, etc.) by that alone. Really, calling for a field promotion is a long shot. We're all about the rank where we should be assuming that we are the equivalent of tank commanders or fighter pilots (O-1) and Lt. Dahvana is the platoon commander or squadron commander and a 1st Lt (O-2). To be fair, none of us have actually bothered to check how many bars Dahvana has but I'm fairly confident that she's an O2. In fact, she may even be under-ranked for her role (can't really say, MSs have a weird place in structure)! Katzuya is our acting squad commander and it's our responsibility to give him the respect that entails. He doesn't really need a promotion, because there's no actual gap in the overall command structure. Also: Corporal would be a demotion.
Edel kicks her feet while sitting on the edge of the examination table. Her examination passes with little incident: she answers questions, gives samples, and even has time to make small talk with the staff. It's only when she gets the results that she frowns. It hadn't occurred to her that she would spontaneously "gain" two dozen pounds when she got to earth. The inflated number hurt her self esteem a bit and she ended up leaving the med bay in a sour mood.
We are using a game called Mekton Zeta and possibly the update for it, Mekton Zeta Plus. There's also a third book, Gundam Senki, that uses MKZ's system, but it has no US release. However, Ben Wright, one of the co-writers for Mekton, released a series of rules for running gundam. They're notably different than what we are using. After some googling I'm fairly confident we are using a fan translation of Gundam Senki. However, I have not want nor will to make a Gundam Forums account to download the files and confirm. Plus, I think The Warlord may be withholding some information so we can't metagame. For the GM: if you've already posted everything you could find check out this thread. It seems like there's a lot more being translated by Mendou (including stats for the Guntank).
