In some of the Wedding Dance Classes New York City's prominent dance schools have strived to introduce and even leverage the pendulum swing into relationships. For instance, if a man is helping a woman out of a chair, and he goes to her, catches her hand and pulls her by the muscular hip-shunting method, it can jar her whole arm and it looks rather ugly. On the other hand if he goes to her, takes her hand gently using the weight of his head then he is actually transposing his weight slowly from the front foot to the rear one, as he draws her up with a slow and easy pull.

When adapting this concept to life, it leads towards better civilization and consideration for others. In addition when adapting this to the stage, it is obviously more graceful and the actress feels confident that the actor has good control of himself and the situation.

When adapting the above concept to dance, we can use it a little more obviously and the whole movement is graceful and charming and can start the flow and conditions for a good piece of creative improvisation once the partners have floated out on to the floor arena.

When teaching wedding dance the space to be kept between two partners is rather important. One must learn not to go too close to the partner (as when approaching a hurdle). There must be enough room to maneuver and take up difficult positions with ease. One also must learn about equidistance between people and objects, so as not to bump into one another.
