My players just got into a big fight with a gnome illusionist. After they had him pinned down, one of the players decided to loosen his tongue by feeding him a bottle of illegal moonshine. It's approx half a liter (17 oz), and at least 100 proof/50% alcohol. Now the Gnome weighs about 40 lbs (= 18 kg). The player rolled a 20 on his attempt + the little guy was tied up so he basically chugged the bottle.
I know that a quart (0,95 L) of whiskey can kill fully grown humans. This was half the amount but it was stronger and the Gnome weighs about 25% of a human. Of course, they want to question him for his ties to the plot.
So basically my point is: the players want him to live, but pouring this (expensive, mind you) alcohol down his throat was a rash and foolish decision.
Shouldn't such a large drink kill a small gnome?
