Arctaris wrote: How do you get a critical hit on yourself? Tell me, I need to know. Is there some fun variant rule that I could introduce into my campaigns? The way I do it is this.. If the PC rolls a 1 do a D% roll and before hand I ask the player high or low. Example if they call low and i roll high they somehow do a crit hit on themselves.
Just the way I do it Have fun

What I would buy (If it were me) was as a DM I would get anoter monster manual. You can never have too many monsters to throw at your party. As a player it would have to be a toss up between any one of the race series or complete series.
Just my 2 cents.
Have fun with whatever you get.

There is another refrence to D&D in the X-files. I cant remember what episode or season. But mulder walks in to talk with that group of nerdy guys, and after he opens the door the guy with the long blonde hair is saying "cmon momma needs a new vorple sword". I was laughing my a&* off. Then agian it has been about 7 years since I've seen it so I could be wrong.

Hey all just a heads up. I just saw that Ie7 was out so I downloaded it and gave it a shot. Big mistake on my part. For starters it slowed down my sufing speed. Then it tried to erase my favorites folder. My usual download speed was around 6Mbps (broadband) af ter installing IE7 it droped to around the 150Kbps to 300kbps major drop!!
So IMO DO NOT get IE7

Wasatch micro (IN UTAH) has the best medium light ale called the cutthrought that is way good.

Hey I just saw your post. I have had the same type of problem on the wizards site. It took about 3 days to get the e-mail from them for my password. So hang in there it should come.
P.S. It might take a little longer because they are in the process of revamping the boards over there.
hope this helps.
Hey Lilith, MC, I was just checking out the NPC stat blocks generator, and WOW!!!!! I think I may have just found a new resorce for my game. WOOHOO!!! LOL
Great job you guys keep up the good work.
May the goddes of the forest watch over you.
6'2" and 280, mostly fat (been recovering from low back injury 2 years ago). But for the most part lossing it now.
WOOHOO!!!!
Just signed it myself. I think it would be really awsome for it to be re-released. :)
Hey All Name says it all for the most part. I'm looking to start a game here in the Ogden area (Roy). I'm also willing to join an current game as a player. I have played D&D for almost 13 years so I do have exp. in the game.

Thats bad Ultradan. Way bad, but at the same oh so funny.:))
I just need to add my two cents in. Frist I want to let the first poster know that I'm glad that he got his books back.
Second I am a rehabilitated theif. As a kid (15 years ago) nothing was safe. Now that I work and buy my own stuff it makes me realize what damage I was doing as a kid.
And as far as thieves not playing D&D I didnt untill I went to prison (at age 16). Going that young tends to make you think WTF am I doing. But I agree with you all that thieves SUCK!!! even though I was one myself.
I hope that all goes well for you all.

Still looking for another player if anyone is looking for a game.
But hey deshimp shoot me a e-mail and I will fill you in on how to get here.
laters.
I'm curious as to what your view was and why it took you so long to convert. Almost all the people that I encounter who still run 2e do it as a source of stubborn pride. The mention of 3e makes them growl the word munchkin and shake their fists at any nearby windmills. I can't imagine one of them actually converting, and they are about the only ones I know who are still running 2e in 2006. I would say that I am a mix of both was tired of 2nd, but couldn't afford 3rd for awhile. Due to the fact that it wasn't untill my kids got into D&D that I started back. So when I did I couldn't afford the new edition(due to health problems).
So I would have to say that I am from both camps.
Thaks for your input. I just wanted to share my new found interest in the game.
Hey all the name about sayes it all. I have played D&D for about 14 years now, and was just shown how the 3.x game worked. Now there is no turning back LOL. I even went as far as to take my old 2nd edition books, and trade them for 3.x. So I don't know if this is even in the right place but I just wanted to say something about it.

deshrimp wrote: Well thats great. So far we have three people, and i may have found another person who would play, now all we need is a DM. I plan on attending a D&D Greyhawk campaign thingy at Ebon Root here in Layton next month, March 18th, and I may be able to find a DM there, unless one of you two know someone who is interested in DMing, (and is good at it). Shoot me a line @ jonesjs77@hotmail.com
Maybe we can work something out. K hope to here from you soon

deshrimp wrote: Hey Drizzt1977. I live in Layton, and am also looking for a group to join. No im not a DM, but I am an experienced Role Player. I do know the 3.5 rules, and do have the 3.5 handbook. Hey glad to hear that there are some people from Utah here. LOL
But anyway Like I said I play Mainly 2nd edition but wouldnt mind learning 3rd. Would you be able to travel up to Roy?
The reason I ask is because I'm out due to low back injury, and it is hard to get around. But I would like to get together and work something out.

William Christensen wrote: Having played my share of solo campaigns and adventures, I have a few suggestions for you. If you feel that you can tweak a third edition adventure for 2nd edition rules (this really shouldn’t be too difficult, since the stats in second edition are much simpler), try the adventure “Gambler’s Quest” from Expeditious Retreat. It’s designed to be played with a DM and a single rogue (although it is easily convertible). I wrote the thing, so I may be tooting my own horn here, but it was a really fun one. I know that Expeditious Retreat is also publishing some new ones (one-on-one adventures) as well. You can buy either a print version through their website: www.exp.citymax.com, or you can download the PDF version right off of Paizo’s website!
If you don’t mind tweaking a standard Dungeons and Dragons adventure for second edition (this is really easy as well—you don’t even have to do anything, just run the monsters right out of the second edition MM and call it good), try running “Sword and Shield” or any of the Thunder Rift adventures. They’re designed for one DM and one player as well, and I had a great time playing them back in the day. In fact, “Gambler’s Quest” is sort of inspired by “Sword and Shield.” Anyway, let me know what you think, and have fun!
Thanks I'll have to give that a shot. Thanks for all the replys

Dryder wrote: Drizzt1977 wrote: Thanks for the ideas. But since I am a newbee to posting I forgot to say in my frist post that this is going to be a 1 on 1 game I dont know if the ideas will work. I have the boxed set rod of seven parts, and I know that one wont work. Any other ideas for a one on one game? There are some neat little modules you can use for a 1on1 game.
These are titled:
"Fighter's Challenge"
"Cleric's Challenge"
"Thief's Challenge" and
"Wizards Challenge".
There have also been second parts to them as well.
Look for those, there are easy to prepare and fun to play!
Don't know where to get them though... Just found them right here on Paizo thanks dryder
You're going to have difficulty finding a module that will work with only 1 PC. They simply weren't meant for that. If you can't find other players, my suggestions is to have your Player run two PCs and you run an NPC. You may also want to have them start a level or two higher than whatever the module is set for to help compensate. You can survive with 3, if you're very careful. :)
I know lots of people balk at that, but when I started DMing the player I DM'd for ran 5 simpley because there was NO ONE else around that was intersted. And she had a blast. Thanks Tiger Lily I'll give that a shot and let you all know what the outcaome is. :)
I don't think any of the good 2nd 'Classics' would work as an 1-on-1. I think your best bet would be old Dungeon mags. I were to be as bold as to make a suggestion, (which I guess I am) is to get a couple more players and do either Rod of Seven Parts or Lost Temple of Tharizdun (which very well could be a 1st for all I know). I'll try the idea of a few more players but I can't seem to find any that play 2nd edition. but thanks for your input

Hi I'm getting ready to run a 2nd edition D&D game and would like some help.
Frist I have ran 2nd edition games for a long time. They have just all been off the top of my head as we play, but would like to run a premade game.
Anybody have a good sugestion as a good 2nd edition modual to run?
Thanks all
Looking for any players or DM's in the northen Utah area. I Play 2nd edition AD&D and I am looking into 3.x.
If there is anyone from Ut here on these boards drop a line.
AAAWWWWW come on some body has got to be from Utah!!!! LOL!!! LOL !!!! LOL!!!
Hi all just wondreing if im barking up the wrong tree. If you read this let me know if you are from utah. PLEASE!!!!!
Good responses all around on this problem, and I have a very similar issue with my wife. She doesn't really like to play, but there is a room full of her friends over for several hours - so why not join in even if the game is not completely fun for her?
One thing that was not mentioned though - depending on your female player's knowledge - you might want to see if she might be interested in DM'ing. Sometime that is vastly different and more enjoyable than just playing and it might really appeal to her.
Just a thought. Hey cleric.. I have had the same problem ( the reason for the frist post). And my wife the was main problem, but this last sunday she Dm'd her frist game. It was a BLAST we all had fun. It was the answer to all my questions she is now reading the books. You all are great and thatks for keeping the post going.
With everybodys posts its good. I play the old 2nd and 1st editions of D&D so I havent even looked at the new campain setting. With that said all I use the forgotten realms for is the back drop and names on the maps. Everything else I make up that is the fun part of D&D you can do WHAT YOU WANT TO. Like it says in the forward of the 2nd edition DMG "MAKE IT UP" and have fun with it. If you get to involved with the rules the game gets boring. Thats my fellings on the forgotten realms. Have fun with it and enjoy.
Well besides D&D I like to play a number of board and card games.
my second choise to D&D is clasic battletech from fasa it a hoot!!!!!
nothing like being an elf or being in a 100 ton battlemech!!!!
Thanks a bunch Mike..
Some really good points will give them a shot.
and as far as the books go I've told th em a number of times that they can use mine. My whole group is family so I have no worries about lost books. Again th anks for the input.
Anybody from utah out there LOL!!!
Thanks for the suggestions I will give them all a try. Again thanks
hey all. Just a quick question. How can I get some new players that like the idea of D&D to read the books. Like the players handbook, and so on. They get real fustrated with the machanics of the game but wont read!!! Please help
Hey just looking for some new players for my 2nd edition D&D game. I play mostly in the Forgotten Realms, but use it more as a back drop. So if you want shoot me a line. Hope to here from you soon. until then fare the well!!!
You know I've played sooo long that I had forgotten that was the roll playing that got me going. Then after awhile I got better at the role-playing. So thanks for all of the replies.
Thank you guys for the help, and I will try your suggestions. lykusthedm When you get back there is a really good gameing store called the bookshelf it's on washington between 24th and 25th. It's my fav place. If you are looking to get involved in a game when you get back I would LOVE to have you join my game. That is if you dont mind playing 2nd edition. If you want shoot me a line here or at jonesjs77@hotmail.com.
P.S. If you know a ssgt Dearborn let her know that her neighbor says hi.
Again thaks for the help
Hi I have been a DM for a while, and I'm looking for some advice on a new player.
hear is the problem. The player (my sister-in-law) really likes the fantasy setting and wanted to play with my group, but she is more into the roll playing instead of the role playing. If any of you have had this problem in the past please let me know how you have fixed the problem.
thanks a bunch Drizzt1977
hey I thank you for the help, but just needed to look more closely.. LOL But again thanks a bunch
