Drint glares at Rolly. "I think you are ruling out the obvious: that they are telling the truth and perhaps the king wishes to speak with me." He turns back to the kobolds.

Draconic:
The others are alright, but the dwarf is very distrustful. I will go with you, if you solemnly swear, both of you, not to resort to any treachery. Those crossbows were pointed at me, were they not?

"It happens!" Drint protests feebly. "They were probably just keeping on their guard!" Nonetheless, he nervously follows Quirk. When Roll says he will come too, the kobold spins around, furious. "I thought dwarves were supposed to be good! Even if the kobolds were aiming at me, two wrongs don't make a right, thug!" He turns and follows Quirk.

Male Kobold Rogue 3

Bump.

Male Kobold Rogue 3

Failed the roll.
Drint nods, looking nervously at the dead wolf. He takes a step towards the entrance. He raps hard on the door (if there is one), assuming nobody stops him, and calls out, "Fellow kobolds! Drint? Drint? Perhaps they want to feed some fairies with them, I did not suggest, those kobolds would eat them." Quirk hovers a bit out of reach of the irascible kobold trying to defend his own race.

Drint frowns. "That is ridiculous. First of all, if there are possibly carnivorous fairies, why blame the kobolds for every mishap in here? Second, couldn't it just be a wild animal? Third, kobolds wouldn't really have any reason to feed the fairies. Now, come on!"

From what I can tell, the children didn't freely follow your kind.

I think you have to accept that these kobolds are not that friendly towards other as you are.
Please consider this, when you try to speak to them."

Drint does not seem disheartened by this.

"Fjyndel. It is no secret that other races do not like us. If you were a child, lost in the woods, possibly hiding from predators, and a bunch of kobolds came--how do you think they would have been raised? To believe that kobolds are friendly? I doubt it. It is no surprise that they tried to get away. Now come on." He proceeds.

If we can't find anybody, then...maybe...we can go with Fjyndel's...umm...plan."

Drint frowns at him. "Perhaps we should send one group, consisting of Fjyndel and Skullsplitter, to follow the tracks. See if we can find the children. Then Coralee, Quince, and I go to speak with the kobolds. If the first group finds the children, they head back here to join us. Grendel would probably see better, but has no means of telling his discovery to the Gnome.
How recently? Survival to find out?

Finding the footprints and where they lead to, Fjyndel rides back to the others, stopping them with the words:
"Footprints. We found footprints of Kobolds and Children. No 3 hours old. So either the Kobolds have an orphanage built in that monastery, or worse things go on in there..."

Drint frowns. "We can't assume that the children were kidnapped without proper evidence. All you've got are some old footprints. Perhaps there was a kobold hunting party, and they found some lost children and are bringing them home! Or to shelter, at least. You can't always assume the worst."

Rolly smiles again, but this time, there's nothing good-natured about it; rather it seems awfully menacing. "'Twas a dwarven monastery, built by dwarves fer the worship of Torag. At least, that's the background I've heard of it. Now, I like ya, Drint. You've fought well and honorably in the short time I've known ya. And I'm a pretty good-natured chap, not the 'you've insulted my honor, now die' kind of dwarf you usually see."

His smile disappers, and he returns Drint's glare. "But no one, and I mean no one, calls me or my kin 'dishonorable' or 'thieves'. Maybe you might wanna rethink some of yer words?" He begins cracking his knuckles, as if just waiting for Drint to insult him again.

Drint glares back. "Typical of a dwarf. The minute someone calls into question his 'honor' he reverts to his normal brutish self and threatens the other into silence. Say what you will about kobolds, but at least we don't beat up whoever mocks us. We are willing to improve. Of course..." He says, putting a hand on his dagger, "We are also smarter. And...." He looks Skullsplitter straight in the eyes, looking uncharacteristically angry. "We also have the sense to actually care about our children enough to give them decent names which don't make them seem like bigoted, traitorous, twisted brutes. Of course, people already know that about dwarves, there's no sense in hiding it."

Fydyndel and the others probably notice that his accent has all but disappeared.
